DIY and omitting vitamins?

I'm looking to jump onboard the DIY bandwagon for 1-2 meals a day!

I was wondering if anyone's had luck making the ketochow with just the dymatize, psyllium husk, xanthum gum, salt, oil and heavy cream, and then taking a multivitamin and other vitamins separately? I already have several of the vitamins in pill form, but right now it seems easier to take them in pill form than crush them up and mix it in with the chow mix, or buy the powdered vitamins.

I guess my main question is, do the vitamins add significant texture/taste to the chow in some crazy kind of way? Or are the ingredients above the main contributors to the ketochow texture and taste?

Originally the vitamins were sent out as pills that you had to take but it got to be a hassle since about 1 in 50 orders I would forget the bag of pills. So we started grinding the vitamins and mixing it right into the powder. Solved a lot of problems.

There's no reason you couldn't just take the pills as a pill, in fact it has some definite advantages.

This was something that I was interested in knowing - thank you for answering it.

Awesome! Thanks for answering! I'll go ahead and finish up my vitamin pills. I'll contemplate looking at the powdered forms when I finish what I already have.

I take the vitamins in pill form, instead of powdering them, because that way, if I skip a few days with the shakes, I still take the pills, daily, so I'm not missing out on any of them. You shouldn't notice any difference between the shake with, and without the vitamins added to it.

If you keep an eye out for a coffee grinder, you can often find them at thrift stores for $1-3. You can throw in around a month's worth of pills to grind at once (I tried it once), and it takes less than 30 seconds to powder them.

What I did, is mixed up a month's worth of all the dry ingredients in 1 big container, then when I'm mixing it, I just shake it up, and scoop it out by weight.

I just mixed up a batch this morning and contemplated showing how I use my mortar and pestle to do this. It's super easy - but either way is fine :)

Thanks to your suggestion I am totally using my mortar and pestle for my multivitamin! :)

Haha admittedly using a mortar and pestle would be fun. But I can't justify buying one just for the sake of grinding up vitamins.

I DIY and only mix, Dymatize, psyllium husks, xanthum, cream and MCT. I realy like the taste and are too worried that the vitamins will alter it, the magnesium and choline-L- Bitaterate (spelling sorry) has a slight bitter taste I mix it in a bit of water and just chug it. My salt I take in Soda club seltzer flavored with my water.

This is basically what I'm doing plus a bit of salt (though I'll omit it if it tastes bad). Good to know someone else has had luck with this mix! Thanks!

I do the DIY method and just take the vitamins and fish oil pills with my first shake in the morning. I also seem to have almost no sense of taste and just use unflavored protein powder so I might not be the best person to comment on flavor.

I added 1 ingredient at a time to taste the difference. Some add a salty taste, but the only one I found that adds the "chemically" taste is the MK7. I don't add X gum, I do not like texture, and I 1/2 the salt
