So you're saying there's no real reason to watch it in the theater?

Generally the only Directors cut that was better than was aliens...What was in the cases bugged the shite out of me till the directors cut.

Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven, Brazil, Once Upon A Time In America, Supernan II, Heaven's Gate. There are tons of instances of movies being improved in subsequent cuts. Movies like Kingdom of Heaven actually went from mediocre to great with their director's cut

> Supernan II

That must have been a pretty radical cut :^)

buck_fiddle•

I like the fact that the director's cut of Oliver Stone's Alexander is actually shorter than the original release cut.

Blade Runner. Either the DC or the FC, really. Both beat the strange theatrical cut(s). Watchmen probably also counts, unless you want to get through it as quickly as possible.

CallMeBigPapaya•

Watchmen Ultimate Directors Cut is worth watching if you're a fan of the graphic novel. They weave The Black Freighter animated feature into the movie similar to the way it is in the graphic novel. Also some additional live action scenes.

Dragon Tattoo Trilogy. Blade Runner. Alien. Aliens. Alien 3, even.

I always feel like I'm missing out on content if I'm watching the theatrical release instead of the Director's Cut.

Neo_Techni•

Exactly. I'll just buy the bluray. Anyone know if it's in 3D?

7
TokenSockPuppet•

There is. I'm impatient as fuck and have been waiting for over a year to see it. Also, it's something to do for my birthday.

You ever want to see a sequel?

Fenrir007•

Is there any reason to go to the theater nowadays? You can fap or makeout at home in the comfort of your couch, home theater and best of all, no annoying kids (or adults with a kids mentality).

Director's cut is mostly marketing these days. This is like the super unrated edition they do for raunchy comedy films. Sometimes the raunchy jokes cut were bad.

1
UnplussedOP•

Since people were worried about cut content that was supposed to never see the light of day, here's some good news.

Please excuse me while I giggle and dance around in excitement.

at first glance i misread what you wrote and thought you wrote "Dance around in excrement" ....

4
Agkistro13•

That's in the 'director's cut' of his comment.

Zero_Beat_Neo•

I've heard that my dancing skills are shitty, but this is ridiculous!

CHIM_ERA•

Guess I I'll just wait til the directors cut is out. Maybe I'll watch it December, apparently it's a Christmas movie anyway.

Isn't it fucking ridiculous that an R rated movie was too obscene? WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE ADULTS

5
platinumchalice•

I doubt it's anything like that. I mean, they still let Hostel show in theaters. It's probably just shit that got cut for time constraints or to avoid an overly long run time.

5
Warskull•

Alternatively, it could be where they add scenes that are extremely over the top in an attempt to intentionally get the ratings board to tell them to cut those scenes. That way the ratings board gets to feel like they did something and they miss the dirty jokes they wanted to keep.

3
platinumchalice•

That too. I'd be pretty upset if the film didn't at least plan to have an over the top Japanese gore film tier massacre.

Pulling a South Park? Possibly.

1
liquidSG•

That just means I'll not watch it until that version is out there.

3
Claude_Reborn•

They had to cut a bunch of stuff, that would have likely got them an NC-17 rating, or had cinemas flat out refuse to show it.

I think Ryan may have got a bit too far into Character at times, so we'll just have to wait for the DVD release to see! :D

He does such a good job as Deadpool though, the video he posted to Facebook for testicular cancer awareness was amazing.

Can't wait to see the joke they had to kill that Ryan and T.J. made that would have given the movie an NC17 rating. The smart thing would be to release it Unrated. They would be stupid not to do that.

1
gossipninjaArmed with PHP shurikens•

a lot of theaters won't carry nc-17 or unrated films

1
Aurondarklord•

Really this is not an uncommon practice, while it's scummy when studios sometimes do it on purpose to make more money by getting some consumers to buy twice, it can also be a good compromise between appeasing the MPAA overlords and allowing their real vision to remain accessible. I see no reason really for GG to start getting upset by the existence of unrated director's cuts.

1
ShadistsRedditpedantic goldilocks zone•

It seems you've missed both the tone of the post and everyone's reaction to it..

I see no reason really for GG to start getting upset by the existence of unrated director's cuts.

It was more getting upset that they cut offensive content in the first place.

MaccusLiveI, a sneakier Satan•

I really hope this turns out to be good. Doesn't have to be the best thing ever, just entertaining and true to character.

Old school Deadpool is one of my favorite Marvel characters and that seems to be what they're basing it on.

1
UnplussedOP•

From everything I've seen, I think they're going to get it right.
