Friday Spotlight: Jaime_Manger

Goodmorning...afternoon...evening...night! Hope you are all ready to learn about a familiar user. Let's keep this intro short and get rolling. Let's do this!!!

###Who's Jaime_Manger:

First Name?

Tina

Age?

27

Where are you from?

Currently in Brussels, Belgium. Did you know there is a Brussels, Wisconsin? Born in China, moved to the US when I was a wee child of 18 months and lived there until recently

Occupation?

Nothing until the Visa gets processed. I was working in the Insurance Industry prior.

###Running Q&A's:

What are your PR’s?

5K -19:41 (December 2015)

8K – 32:58 (November 2015)

HM – 1:37:10 (March 2015)

Marathon - 3:24:47 (October 2015)

How long have you been running?

I would say I started consistently running in July 2014 as an adult. I’ve always been pretty active but running just “wasn’t for me”. I ran in high school but only ran to keep in shape for soccer. I think my mile PR in high school was 7 minutes.

Briefly explain why you began running?

In June 2014, I took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge 3.3 miler and ran it in 29:00. I thought I was in better shape than that given that I did HIIT and went to the gym (heh). I'd run back and forth to the gym and eventually just started running more rather than gyming it up. I ended up using the gym for core work and foam rolling. In 2015, I took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge again and was able to run it in 21:12 so it was nice to see the improvement that a year makes (3.2 mile course). Oh also the BF started running and I’m super competitive.

Most memorable running moment?

Finishing in 4th place at the Brussels Marathon. I chose a pace strategy and stuck to it. I think it’s why I didn’t blow up near the end. According to SmashRun my paces were within 6%.

Do you have a running mantra?

Consistency and Patience. Unfortunately I’m the opposite of patient so I’m trying to work on that!

What’s your highest recorded weekly mileage?

73.4 miles during AR’s super week!

What time of day do you prefer to run?

Afternoon or Nighttime. I’m not a morning person

Any big races coming up?

The RCB Hivernales 20Km (19.665km) and afterwards I'll debate on whether I want to run the Oostende - Brugge 10 miler which is pretty flat I believe

I know for sure I'll be running the 10km de l'ULB with a goal to podium and the 20km de Bruxelles

What are your short-term running goals?

sub 1:30 HM (or the equivalent in the 20km race) and sub 40, 10K

What are your long-term running goals?

Make it to the Olympic Qualifiers :D – not sure if that’d happen but a girl can dream

What’s one piece of running advice you’d give to the younger version of yourself?

Running ain’t so bad

What is something you need to work on to become a better runner?

Getting out of my comfort zone and being able to mentally overcome hurdles during races. My 5K PR came from a race where I laid everything on the line and just basically killed myself from the get go.

I also could work on losing a bit of weight. I think if I can lose 10-15 lbs, it’d definitely be beneficial but that means not eating as much sweets =(

Getting more mileage in as well

What is your current shoe choice?

Love my Kinvara 5s

What’s your comfy pace?

I’d say 8-8:30s

Trail? Road? Or Treadmill?

ROAD!

What is your ideal running weather?

50-55F, no wind

Do you have any social media accounts you’d like to share? [Facebook, Strava, Twitter]

###Just For Fun:

What’s your spirit animal?

A cat but let’s make it a lioness so I can at least seem a bit more fierce. Plus the Lion King was one of my favorite movies growing up

What hobbies and interests do you have besides running?

I’m supposed to have other hobbies? Can we call spreadsheets a hobby? But let see I enjoy playing pokemon on my phone, watching crime TV shows, eating lots of candy (but less so lately), looking at reddit specifically this subreddit, AR and aww, taking pictures of my cats (like all the time), and drinking good beer.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m pretty good at sleeping, which is partially why I think a cat is my spirit animal.

Biggest pet peeve?

I have quite a bit of pet peeves but I think I’ll make it broad and say inconsiderate people.

What songs have you been listening to recently?

Stromae – he’s a Belgian singer. I’d highly recommend Papaoutai. It’s super catchy (but lyrics are pretty depressing) even if you don’t understand the words

J. Biebs…some of his new songs are super catchy

###One Last Question:

What is the origin of your username?

My name means I love to eat en francais. Or some people (u/chickensedan) like to pronounce it as Hai-may Main-jur.

Another week down, another runner highlighted! Huge thanks to the Queen of Spreadsheets for taking time out of her Extravaganza Bonanza world and letting us learn a bit more. As usual, please tag u/jaime_manger's username when personally asking her a question. All responses come to my inbox and if you've not tagged her personally, she has to search each comment one by one which can be a daunting task at times when there's a lot of traffic. Please don't forget that jaime_manger might be away doing Brussels things so be patient in allowing her time to respond. Again, it's a totally different time zone over there so please keep that in mind when awaiting for response.
