Don't tell her;
If you miss her,
don't tell her.
She's already spent too many nights sleepless,
wondering if you do.
She's already woken up hollow too many mornings
with unanswered questions and resenting
every inch of her own body.
If you miss her,
don't tell her.
She's already been pushed far away,
and will only drift further away.
She's already struggled getting used to
a life without you and every word
will be a distraction and a razor you will swallow.
Convinced that with time and distance your
compliments and promises will have been meaningless.
If you miss her,
don't tell her.
She doesn't want to be the reason you listen to
melancholic songs while you struggle to fall asleep.
She doesn't want to know you still remember
how her lips and skin feel like because you still
kiss it in your dreams.
She doesn't want to be reminded that opening herself
and being vulnerable hurts too much for it to be worth it.
If you miss her,
don't tell her.
Just roll over, replay your melancholic pop tune
and hope you fall asleep before it ends and silence falls.
