#Oil

she digs, like a drunken surgeon

slices through layers to get to

          the true thing underneath.

"do you see the crow?" apropos nothing

(sip of wine, slash of scalpel)

"no but here's a schooner, rigged for
          deeper tides"
(gesticulating, clouds of cobalt and titanium)

  she sings:

"Do you realize? It's just an illusion

caused by the world spinning round"

and a swirl of her thumb creates

  dolphins and sea-spray spirit animals

          which are obliterated

again with another scrape of the knife
