MAPLE BROWN SUGAR POP TARTS

Very simple but what is now Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts was always Maple Brown Sugar in the past. Some point in the last ten years the record of them ever having been just plain old maple brown sugar pop tarts is gone. I remember eating a maple brown sugar pop tart for years. This is minor but has anyone experienced this one? It drives me nuts because I hate the brown sugar cinnamon ones. Not a fan of cinnamon.

Edit: I know about Quaker Maple Instant Oatmeal and I know about Quaker Maple Flavored Bites Cereal. I know that Brown Sugar Cinnamon has existed in this time/verse. The certainty I have in my memory of Mom bringing home Kellogg's Maple and Brown Sugar Pop Tarts is absolute. They were a family staple. We all loved them. I will have to ask family about it and come back with that info. Also thank you all for input. :)

Edit: If you don't recall the maple, that's okay, though your input is valued and requested, I am absolutely 100% certain that I've experienced having The Kellogg's Maple and Brown Sugar Pop Tarts. If you have not, that's acceptable but for the sake of r/MandelaEffect I am definitely looking for other Mapleverse People. Thank you for all input either way :)

Edit: I know about the Mapley Brown Sugar Whole Grain ones that came out three years ago and sadly :( that's not them.

Edit: I made a photo of what I have always known. It's basic but it's what it would have generally looked like. Mapleverse vs Cinnaverse http://imgur.com/gallery/sZGbL

TL;DR: I absolutely without reserve recall Maple Brown Sugar Pop Tarts by Kellogg's and not what exists in this reality which is Brown sugar cinnamon. Read above for deets...

I definitely remember maple brown sugar pop tarts, they were always my favorite growing up.

Thank You! I needed a confirmation so bad. My wife claims she's never heard of them. They were my favorite. They were the kelloggs too.

3
ThePusherRobot•

They weren't even something I was aware had ever changed till your post. That brown icing on them was the best!

5
SeansteproOP•

The icing is still a brown color on the brown sugar cinnamon but it tastes god awful to me at least now. I generally hate cinnamon unless it's in a big fresh hot cinnamon roll.

They were my favorites too.

This is interesting.. I've always known Brown Sugar Cinnamon tarts, and I can't find any sign of Maple Brown Sugar, but I did find this page.

Calorie Count: Maple Brown Sugar Pop Tarts

SeansteproOP•

Yeah but then you scroll down and it actually refers to the kelloggs pop tarts as brown sugar cinnamon. I can't for the life of me find the record of it existing.

I don't remember the pop tarts but I do remember another breakfast food you may be mixing it up with. Quaker makes a maple brown sugar oatmeal so maybe that's it?

6
RWaggs81•

I thought there were both, but I loved that flavor of instant oatmeal, so it may be spilling over on my memory.

2
RWaggs81•

Actually, screw that. Are you saying that there isn't a Pop Tart variety with maple glaze on it, and never was? I'm about 90% that I used to eat such a thing all the time.

3
SeansteproOP•

Only hint I can find online is a Whole grainy mapley brown sugar that looks new...and then there's maple bacon. I can't find the anything on the plain old maple brown sugar kelloggs pop tarts. It's killing me. I know they existed. It's all my mom bought and they tasted like a maple donut.

2
SeansteproOP•

The maple cereal by quaker is amazing. I wish this were my answer though. Thank you for helping :)

1
pillful•

I've never heard of 'Maple Brown Sugar', but Cinnamon Brown Sugar Poptarts were my favorite when i was about 11-12, so no..

I'm 19 and still eat Poptarts till this day.

5
Mycoxadril•

I've been eating Brown Sugar Cinnamon PopTarts for the last 30 years, and that's the only flavor (save for a brief affair with S'mores in my teens), and I've also never heard of Maple Brown Sugar pop tarts. I would definitely have been turned off to poptarts way back when if they were maple flavored.

4
pillful•

Right! Maple poptarts sound disgusting

3
SeansteproOP•

When I did have them, they were amazing. But I love maple. Haha.

2
SeansteproOP•

This is why I'm convinced they are a Mandela Effect situation. I'm just as positive as you are that I ate Maple Brown Sugar Pop Tarts my entire life until I took a break from pop tarts and now suddenly they are Brown Sugar Cinnamon. Obviously I have fallen into a new verse where Kirk Douglas is alive and well and The Pop tart with brown sugar has always been cinnamon and not maple.

2
pillful•

Well maybe it wasn't Kellogg's brand(?)

2
SeansteproOP•

Nope. I specifically recall getting them with my Mom, I was her shopping pal and I've always loved food, Im a fat dude, trust me on this lol they were Kellogg's indeed.

3
katamino•

It's very possible it was a test flavor put out in a test market region from one factory. Food manufacturers often do this and then either decide it's not getting enough traction and discontinue it or it's getting a lot of sales and they carry to the rest of the country.

2
SeansteproOP•

I like your thinking but I remember eating them for at least the time frame from I'd say 1989 to 1996. It was quite a long period of time for a test market flavor. That and I remember it as the same package and almost exact look as the brown sugar and cinnamon ones. It's like in the original mapleverse that I'm from, the Kellogg's company decided to make them maple brown sugar and in this timeline they made them cinnamon brown. I really wish I could show you all the package and have you taste them. You would understand why I loved these ones most. I abhor cinnamon. It is just bleh to me and always has been. Maple on the other hand...mmmm...my wife always makes me eat the maple donuts when we buy a dozen. I gladly oblige.

LimpyGimpy•

Okay, everyone, u/pillful has never heard of Maple Brown Sugar Poptarts. Everyone else can simply stop replying to this thread. Mystery solved!

1
pillful•

Lol. Get lost.

1
LimpyGimpy•

No, for real. YOU don't remember something, and that's a giant shock to the rest of us.

2

K.

I'm looking for fellow Mapleverse People.

This raises an excellent point. There ought to be a thread tag for this kind of post. Similar to how we have [META] and [THEORY] we should have [AFFIRMATION] or something similar. That way we all know that OP doesn't want to hear explanations, they just want to find people who agree with them. It'll save everybody time.

5
SeansteproOP•

Actually I'm gonna edit the edit above because I do wish to hear explanations. Please tell me how it could just be something other than mandela effect, I just don't prefer to hear the same theory over when I've already maintained that it wasn't "faulty memory" or "Mapley Brown Sugar" whole grain ones that came out 2 years ago.

1
ToBePacific•

Oh, I don't have an answer for you. I just realized from your post that I've seen many posts where the poster is only interested in finding other people that share the same experience. I think there ought to be a tag for that so that if that's the poster's intent, it's clear.

2
SeansteproOP•

I gotcha. That's actually a great idea. [Affirmation] would be a fantastic sub topic. I think it would clear up the possibility for hurt feelings that some folks can get at contradictory comments. I am not one of those. As long as someone is decent in their response to me I will always respond with a well thought out response.

1
ToBePacific•

Thanks. Your post also made me consider some other thoughts that I made into a new [Theory] thread. I realized, before looking, that I wasn't sure at all whether I'd ever seen Maple Brown Sugar Pop Tarts. (I'm a S'mores guy, personally.)

And for whatever reason that reminded me of something I read recently about wave-particle duality and the delayed choice and quantum eraser experiments. Basically, if you do not have a physical record of something being one way, you can change how something happened in the past. I expanded on this thought by thinking that maybe this can happen on a subjective level, where if a person has not had a record of one aspect of their reality for a while, possibly that aspect of their reality could become "unstuck."

2
ZugTheMegasaurus•

I'm also in the "I've never even heard of Maple Brown Sugar but the Brown Sugar Cinnamon are delicious" camp on this one.

4

I'm with you. I remember these distinctly because I didn't care for them, so I'd tell my brother "you can have the maple ones."

4
SeansteproOP•

Thank you for the affirmation. I know I'm not crazy lol. At least not because of this.

1
coladp•

Wow. It's always been Maple for me.

3

I remember maple brown sugar poptarts too!

3
arachnopussy•

Yep, I absolutely abhor the taste of cinnamon (and mint, and to a lesser extent, chocolate).

Maple and Brown Sugar sounds right to me, and I don't think I was eating cinnamon without triggering my gag reflex.

3

I'm 4 days late to this party, but I also remember them being Maple Brown Sugar as well. They were the only pop tarts I actually liked. What the hell.

3
dotchianni•

Oh man those were the best. I just spent a few minutes searching for them. I will just have to add that to my list.

5
Ubereem•

This sounds very familiar to me too. But maybe you're thinking of maple brown sugar oatmeal?

2
SeansteproOP•

Nope. I love that stuff too lol. I specifically remember eating the maple pop tarts. They even smelled maple and good. This was back in the 90s too

2
chibivenser•

No, I distinctly remember cinnamon sticks as part of the design on the front of the package. You're probably thinking of the Quaker's oats flavor.

2
SeansteproOP•

I know what they are now, I'm not experiencing something different. They "for me" used to be maple. I work at a grocery store for the last ten years. I look at pop tarts every day. At some point they changed or I changed. This is a Mandela Effect related post not a why can't I find them. Other people have now responded agreeing they remember them too

3
Kellarhi•

Do they taste different?

3
SeansteproOP•

Omg they taste absolutely different. I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon since forever. There were a lot of years since I was a kid that I went without eating a pop tart but, I've never liked cinnamon and I remember the maple ones tasting like a maple glazed donut.

1
pandahat79•

so... the name/flavor was changed?

2
SeansteproOP•

My theory, and I'm looking for others that remember the other verse, is that this is a solid case of Mandela Effect and alternate realities. I have a bit of a photographic memory for mundane details and I absolutely remember the Maple ones. Not the new maple bacon or the new whole grain mapley brown sugar but plain old maple and brown sugar.

2
ToBePacific•

Oh hey, I found some Maple Brown Sugar Pop Tarts. Looks like they came out 3 years ago.

2
SeansteproOP•

I found those online, sadly, that's not them. The ones I ate growing up were around at least while I was eating them between the years of like 1988 and 2000 at least. After 2000 things get dicey because I just really wasn't eating pop tarts much anymore. I didn't get a job in a grocery store until 2005 at which point I want to say I remember them still being maple and brown sugar (same box style as brown sugar cinnamon) but at some point in the last decade since I started working at the grocery store I'm still at, It totally switched on me or I switched to the Cinnaverse. Sorry for the lame multiverse names. I'm spit balling here as I'm trying to sort through this craziness.

2
ToBePacific•

the Cinnaverse

That is the best thing I've heard to come out of this subreddit.

I am henceforth describing this universe as The Cinnaverse.

4
SeansteproOP•

You are most welcome. :) :) :)

1
AncientNostalgia•

Rings familiar to me maybe. Have you found a picture of a box from any kind of brown frosting or filling pop tart from the 90s?

2
SeansteproOP•

Sadly no...

1
SirBrothers•

I want to say I remember just plain brown sugar -- no cinnamon or maple. Man. What universe am I from?

2
SeansteproOP•

You're from the Sugarverse. Sorry...I'm getting way too carried away with these universe nicknames...cinnaverse mapleverse sugarverse etc...

3
falling_into_fate•

I'm from chocloteverse yay! Everything had and was made of chocolate! Lol, just funnin'.

1
ninaplays•

I'm with the person who just remembers plain brown sugar. They were amazing.

2
buffalospringsteen•

I also remember just brown sugar. I can't imagine them having cinnamon flavor, that just wouldn't taste right to me.

I ate those and the s'mores all the time in the 90s.

2
lechango•

Maple Brown Sugar is a popular oatmeal flavor. Most likely our brains are pairing these two breakfast foods together as they were likely consumed with each other or both popular breakfast choices.

2
SeansteproOP•

I like your thinking but no I remember eating maple pop tarts. It seems there are a lot of people popping up here too that remember them. I don't even mean the whole grain mapley brown sugar ones that came out a few years ago. Though those are lovely. I grew up eating maple and brown sugar pop tarts. As well we always got the maple and brown sugar oatmeal too. Family faves. I hate cinnamon, I would have noticed for sure. Lol.

1
falling_into_fate•

I remember maple brown sugar for sure.
