I feel like there's gotta be something wrong with Y'Shaarj's Golden animation. It's really unimpressive.

233
I_dontevenlift•

Watch it be the only competitive one and we were all blindsided

67
yomen_•

No way, N'Zoth is easily the best of the 4.

83
TotalControll•

easily in wild. not so clear cut in standard

71
yomen_•

True, though I am expecting at least some good deathrattles to be added in this set.

14
Reknits-Sensei•

You might play him with Cards like Harvest Golem, Tomb Pillager and of course Cairn Bloodhoof. In Wild he might be pretty overpowered because of the Shreders.

2
Nethervex•

You misspelled c'thun

5†
yomen_•

Eh, maybe. C'Thun strikes me more as the cornerstone of a competitive starter deck, and not much more. I could easily be wrong though, if you can consistently get him to 20+ attack, he'll be insane.

40
Austen98•

also has best animation

5
SpiderParadox•

If the 15+ power C'thun deck is a thing he will be the best one.

1
65rytg•

As a Johnny, my list goes more like Yogg-N'Zoth-Cthun-Y'shaarj

1
pSaCha•

For me,

N'Zoth > C'thun > Y'SHaarj > Yogg-Saron

12
Uptopdownlowguy•

Same, but I'd swap Y'Shaarj and Yogg-Saron. I have faith in RNGsus.

32
NeoLies•

If you truly had faith in RNGsus, you'd have Yogg at nº1.

11
Blargh9•

I am going to need a lot more goats for this expansion...

2
armoredporpoise•

Its like 3-1 odds that each spell Yogg casts is beneficial to you

8
pSaCha•

Yeah you could swap Yogg with Y'Shaarj. I don't deny that Yogg can be great on an average. But the body is just too weak compared to Y'Shaarj. Plus Y'Shaarj, although RNG based, is more predictable and you can time its play based on your remaning deck and has potential for repeated bonus.

2
XalAtoh•

If only Y'Shaarj could clone the minion in the deck to the board. He could be on par with N'Zoth.

Pulling simply a minion out of deck is just too boring and bad for the most powerful Old God.

3
supterfuge•

If we finally see this zoo-cataclysm and the dawn of a tempo/control aera, I can see Y'SHaarj being really good in Standard. I can see an old Warrior Control list with lots of removals (weapons, armor, board clear) with a long place for late game threats (Sylvanas for a starter, Ragnaros, Grommash, Ysera, mb even Frost Giants and whatever new good neutral/war legendary we have) and no (or almost none) small cost minions.

The biggest opponent to this is the loss of Death's bite, but Warrior keeps Bash, Revenge and all the Classic set cards.

But it would be a CW similar to the old one we used to have.

1
pSaCha•

The problem with Rag and Ysera with Y'Shaarj is that, their end of the turn effects do not trigger. Same with Grommash, you do not want him to be played without getting a chance to attack.

2
Ildona•

All I'm saying is... N'zoth in Druid. Here, have a 7 minion super sticky board to Savage Roar off.

Also good in Hunter because deathrattle is basically a second tribe. Leper, Toad, Highmane and Sylvanas, etc. Sounds tasty.

1
Chad___Sexington•

It very well could be. It has the best stat line and its effect is very powerful. People compare it to Varian and I think that's wrong. If Varian was not a warrior card he would be crazy good. Warrior doesnt want to draw and slam down minions. In nearly any other class he would be super strong.

1
revoopy•

I think the gif format is messing up the subtleties of the the green effects.

4
ShinyGoomyz•

It's basically a standard Yu-gi-oh holographic...

3
pLUable•

Maybe something that will make him good.. I dont know, I feel the same way.

1
DaWarchief•

Not very exciting but he will likely be the most competitive of the bunch in standard, depends on the rest of the C'thun cards.

1
Alvanix•

Fitting because his effect is also boring as hell

1
Sherr1•

Because he is the only one OG who don't have lightnings on the background.

Blizzard probably think that we are bunch of magpies that will be always happy if they put shinny object infront of us.

And they are correct.

1
RCcolaSoda•

looks like he's vomiting up a bunch of glowsticks.

1
I_was_a_sexy_cow•

lol just watch it to the end, the lightning effect at the end is just insane

1
GrumpySatan•

It fits his lore (He consumed hope and begat despair; He inhaled courage and breathed fear.) even if it is an underwhelming animation.

1
TheOGCupcakes4life•

he defo got dicked in the animation department

1
MushinZero•

It's really just the most unimpressive art out of all of them.

Art ranking:

  1. N'Zoth

  2. C'Thun

  3. Yogg Saron

  4. Y'Shaarj

Edit: Yeah i was talking about animations, my bad.

41
jokeren75•

nahh, i'd say Yogg-Saron looks cooler than C'Thun.

32
velrak•

Yshaarj has really good art just his animation is not as good

16

Specifically for animation, I agree with you. But for actual art quality I'd go with:

  1. N'Zoth
  2. Y'Shaarj
  3. C'Thun
  4. Yogg-Saron
5
Con45•

Any reason why C'Thun didn't get a fancy title?

Cards refer to him by name, and it's confusing if his whole name isn't written.

I don't see how it's confusing. You would have to be literally retarded if you didn't realize C'thun meant C'thun, Infinite Watcher or something.

-11
DaLegendaryNewb•

To be fair we now have several cards with similar names
Hogger/ Hogger, Doom of Elwynn
Mukla/ Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale
Ragnaros/ Ragnaros, Lightlord

19
NamelessLime•

This is a good point. Since there are multiple cards depicting a single character now with different card titles, it could become a trend in the future as well. It's entirely possible future sets will have alternate universe or alternate chronological era versions of legendary cards and, while C'thun himself is unlikely to be reprinted in a new form, it would be reasonable to try and make all card text refer to other cards by their full name. C'thun does not have a title because all of his supplementary cards would also have to mention the full title (which would just look clunky) to avoid confusion a couple years down the line over the possibility that there are two different C'thuns.

2
ConcedeDota•

You've have to be literally retarded

considering you couldn't even spell your insult correctly, maybe you should just hold off on casting the first stone?

5
XalAtoh•

Those titles makes lorewise no sense... because all the Old Gods are corruptors, rage unbound, hope's end.

15
Dsh5•

They don't even have titles when being referred to anyways. Mean while Neptulon runs into the character limit for his title.

18
Akuuntus•

Except "Blood of The Ancient One" is one character longer than "Neptulon the Tidehunter" :L

6
velrak•

they said its because its too long in different languages

23
Maveil•

To be fair, Yogg-Saron does have a ton of titles. Just none of them are the one they chose to name him.

2
Acrymonia•

Rage Unbound makes sense for Y'Shaarj, cuz he had seven heads which spawned the seven Sha Primes, one of which was the Sha of Anger

1
realk4•

what u/Aetari said, but also since all players get C'Thun automatically, they didn't want the card to be too confusing (in typical Blizzard style) cough deckslots

2
forgot_again•

These cards have terrible synergy with each other and probably won't be seen in the same deck together.

I think that fits the lore nicely though! They weren't exactly buddies with each other.

15
Boaba•

I am so going to craft a golden version of each of these. If the right cards get refunded when standard hits, I should have enough dust. Been saving for awhile.

7
neodar•

Holding onto Nozdormu just for a little hope

2
benny3932•

I thought cards aren't getting refunded, after all you can disenchant...

1
TalixZero•

If a card is changed, you can generally disenchant it for full value for a while.

2
Xtatica•

I don't think I've ever wanted a golden legendary as much until I saw N'Zoth's golden art, it is beautiful and impressive.

Y'shaarj looks like he is puking all over the floor.

6
halfanangrybadger•

Yeah, I may well craft Gold N'Zoth, especially if the minions he summons will be gold as well...

3
sirunknown91•

Oh man I didn't think about the minions he's summons are golden! That's almost as much golden value as jarraxus!

2
WyMANderly•

N'Zoth still the best golden animation. Dat tentacle sway...

4
Waxtree•

Yogg looks the best by far for me. Very nice design.

3
Rias-senpai•

Yogg saron looks like someone pasted his face over the golden animation from Drain life.

3
ShinyGoomyz•

I thought you were gonna line them up so I could compare them all at once.

2

2
malevalice•

Poor C'thun. Someone give him a damn title!

2
Cimanyd•

"C'Thun, Wherever It Is"

15
[deleted]•

N'Zoth is by far the best golden card. It has rain, moving water, and his tentacles move in a cool way. The other 3 are pretty boring. Y'Shaarj just looks boring and like little care was taken for his golden animation. Yogg-Saron has all those mouths with big, bad teeth, and none of them move. And C'Thun is fine, I guess. The lightning looks cool.

2
LarsAlexandersson•

Man how cool would it be if the promotional C'Thun we get is golden but soulbound so we can't disenchant it.

2
Nuber132•

I think they should make their golden versions non-craftable and once when u have all 4, you get their golden too or atleast some achiev for gold/dust.

2
enche•

Are these stored as GIFs in the game

2
XalAtoh•

Y'Shaarj, the strongest Old God. Disappointed in everything. Only 1 head drawn, boring Gold animation, boring card-mechanic, underwhelming mechanic compared to N'Zoth.

Because hes the most threatening -> Titans took him out first -> Realizes that killing Old Gods is bad for the planet -> Imprisoned the rest.

It's not always beneficial being the strongest.

I still don't know why you think he's the " strongest"

Tons of warcraft lore that says so.

3
Thing124ok•

He took over most of the super-continent, and even when he was dead managed to corrupt shit

Him dying kill tons of titan servants and made the Well of Eternity

1
supterfuge•

According to the Lore, he is.

Warcraft Chronicles :

Context : The Old Gods have arrived on Azeroth and created the N'raqi (Faceless Ones) and the aqir (insect slaves)

« Through their new servants, the Old Gods expanded the borders of their remote dominions. The n'raqi acted as ruthless taskmasters, employing the aqir as laborers to erect towering citadels and temple cities around their masters' colossal bulks. The greatest of these bastions was built around Y'Shaarj, the most powerful and wicked of the Old Gods. [...] Y'Shaarj's holdings, along with the other Old God domains [...] become known as the Black Empire. »

1
XalAtoh•

If you try to follow new Warcraft lore you know that Y'Shaarj is the strongest Old God. He is the only Old God that the Titan's army couldn't defeat. Y'Shaarj started even to control the Titan army, so Aman'thul was forced to kill Y'Shaarj by himself. This never happened again with the other Old Gods and the Elemental Lords. The Titan army defeated and imprisoned them by themself.

http://i.imgur.com/IApQXXG.jpg His empire is far bigger than the other Old Gods. If Y'Shaarj would be alive, Azeroth would be doomed. Because Titans don't exist any more. No one could defeat him except for Sargeras.

1
tion24•

Therazane is like the Lichtenstein of the Black Empire :(

1
jn2010•

It seems like C'Thun is the strongest. If there are deathrattle cards as good as Shredder and Belcher, N'Zoth will be the best though.

1
NeoLies•

Yeah in Wild N'Zoth will be a complete beast. Dunno about Standard.
