Untitled
#I.
A brilliance rains upon you,
in rays- warm and soothing.
Your kin have come to find solace-
experience has instructed far better, only you
They bathe in the gold
paid to them by their heavenly mass.
They scurry about dodging shadows as they swing
fearing the hands of nature's clock
they gather warmth as a currency-
the only one they have ever known
Only you they scorn
the fool, the laggard
they take from you that which you do not seek
to rose-tint themselves: triumphant trophies.
##II.
A stillness casts over you,
a silence- most serene.
your friends have learned to burrow deep-
the cracks in the ground teach those who read it, only you
They bury themselves
behind walls and beneath towers
They take from the mother and remake her as theirs
fearing thy neighbor be greater than they
they build only taller to embody their safety-
the only way they have ever known
Only you they forbid
the outcast, the no one
they keep from you that which you would not take
to armor themselves: impenetrable imitations.
###III.
Night's blanket drapes over you,
stolen sight- breeding terror.
darkness to them is the thief of all kind
a lesson it has for those who have listened
earth's temper beneath you
it shatters- such fury!
their walls will crumble and towers will tumble
still it is master to all who are students
Only you brave the dark
Only you hold your ground
kept safe by the coat of your shed ignorance
kept standing by two legs, two pillars- tempered in chaos.
When sky falls in torrents dousing all flames,
when ground destroys home and itself in equal parts
Only you shall see the dawn: vaunted vagrant.
I am accepting name suggestions if anything comes to mind, but I would ask that you please offer feedback on the poem itself if you intend to offer one.
