A Collection of Brief Poems about Humanity's Ignorance to the Earth, from a Non-Environmentalist
Ok, a little background. This collection of poems was written in the last week during my daily commute to NYC. I don't consider myself an environmentalist in the slightest, but apparently that side of me comes out in my poetry.
They are not one continued piece. Each stanza is it's own poem, but they all share a similar theme
Across the swamps
Of sludge and poverty
Lies that dreaded leviathan
Towering obelisks
Dedicated to our ignorance
It’s skyline, the maw of a rapist
The deer
Exiled from its land
It’s hooves calloused
From the pavement
That coats her breast
Her bones melted down
Misconstrued
Into terrifying sculptures
Of oppression and utility
Repairing what she did not break
Bridging the gaps in her skin
The streaks of stone and glass
Burrowing into her flesh
Housing the parasites
That feast upon her virginity
The complexes
Of pipe and steel
Electricity
And hellfire
Oozing tar
Into her fertile skin
The small flames
Burning in their bulbs
Fueled by her blood
Drown out her admirers
Who cast their love through the great void
The massive towers
Like severed legs of a deity
Bright artificial
Eyes peeled
Shoving its way in
Screaming inside
Their vascular curves
Coursing with vice
Begging and spitting
Attention seeking
Curb stomping
Fucking and screeching
A meld of flesh and fat
With orange heels
And leather jackets
Claws hollow
Her hallowed ground
The juices of her innards
Spill unto her skin
Greedily gulped and slurped
Selfish feasts
Teeth grinding
Jaws gnashing
Splintering
The ligaments
Melting her chastity
Molding it
Into bullets
And shells
Instruments of war
And rape

for the most part i thought they where pretty damn good. i don't see myself as a environmentalist either but i still often am amazed at the damage and disregard we have for the planet.
