Im so happy. Since I won it off the website and its going to be transfered to my account, its going to be tax free. I havent seen my parents since last year in February, so me, my wife, and our newborn, are going to go down to Texas. My parents will be happy that they get to meet their grandchild!

Oh, they put a number to call under the message. I just didn't include it cause lazy. The number will lead to a call centre the attacker is paying for (or the attacker themselves). The idea is to phish any sort of information or even install a rootkit on your machine

That, and it's entertainment. If you're doing it to win money, you're doing it wrong. But there are worse ways to spend however much it is per week, divided by 2 (Because you're expected to get half the money back, on average).
Sure, it may go to a "decent cause", but it's poor people who pay for it, as the majority of regular lotto players are the poor.
Even then, we're talking about a fraction of the income, mostly to increase PR. It's first and foremost companies, designed to make profit.
Lotteries in Europe tend to be state-run; the profit goes to social causes (children's hospitals, sports etc.).
