crafting turn usage

I have been loving this game so far but i don't like the way crafting takes up so many turns.

is there a simple mod or tweak i can do to lessen it?

i see the game is mostly in XML which i can change, but looking through the files i cannot find something that looks like it might be related to turn use. please and thank you
