[Fallout 4] A Coursers Perspective, Part 4: Making new friends and influencing people
Holy hell! Its been quite a while! I hope you are doing well; more importantly, I hope your ready for another Chapter in X2's Journal. Anyway, I was watching a bunch of For Honour trailers when I was writing this. It sort of crept in on the story. Anyway, go ahead and tell me what you think. Feedback is important, I need to know if you like where the series is going.

Day 9: Commonwealth of Boston - I hate this place even more!
Where to start? Well, I worked on a way to be “off the grid” so to speak. I have a ‘chip’ so to speak, implanted in my head. It is a lifeline. I can read and process data within milliseconds, I can react faster than average. It makes me who I am. If it's removed, then my reaction time dulls, data takes hours to analyse and most of all. Everything I know will be locked out. All the memories of the Inituite, gone in fourteen seconds, every operation and every failure. Every lesson i’ve learnt will be locked out. All of my knowledge of the Institute will be gone.
Because of that fucking chip that I have to serve these bastards. You know what that goddamn Chip does as well? It allows me to go to and fro from the Institute at a whim. If someone were to remove that. I would have no idea what to do. I would become like those Wasters. Yet, it's to valuable a life line to loose.
I made contact with a Railroad member...by ambushing and interrogating him. He doesn’t know much, but with what I gleaned from him, there should be a Safehouse nearby.
There can be no loose ends. I killed him and left him as food for the Watcher Crows.
After teleporting back to the Institute, I looked through the SRB’s current events list. That Safehouse was being raided today! However, I had a few hours to prepare. In fact, I already had an idea on what to do. If someone were to “heroically save” a few agents and Heavys, it would allow me to gain trust in their organisation. I need to do something outlandish, something no one in the history of this place has done. The Railroad and the Institute needs a recognisable figure to pin them on.
The Institute has the technology to create what I need in seconds. In fact, looking through historical records of ancient human history, I found something that will help me. To the Railroad, I will be there oathbound defender. Protecting all who I find. To the Institute, I will be a deamon incarnate. Striking down all who threaten my charges.
From this day forward, I will be Aflan the Unbreakable. I already made the construction order seconds ago; then I wiped it from the Institutes logs. No one can find out about this. If they do, i’ll be a footnote on Dr Secords report.
A few minutes later, a set of heavy leather boots appeared at my quarters, then a tabard. After that came the chain mail and then, the heavy leather armguards and shoulder pads came along. I’m going to die of heatstroke in this. That's not mentioning the closed face helmet I can barely see out of. I guess I might as well get some practice moving in the armour.
This is one of the stupidest plans I have done. I sure as shit hope it works.
Day Nine, Part Two: Operation Fief - Four miles away from Safehouse Tubman
This is fucking stupid! Here I am, dressed up as a Knight, its hot as hell in this armour. But this time, if X6 is leading them, i’ll crush his skull with my hands! Anyway, in the scant few minutes I had to get here, I managed to create a Longsword, with Institute technology, I managed to electrify it.
I managed to download a few combat programs on basic fencing. I hope they help.
Currently, i’m on a low overpass. Below me, is a train tunnel. Its dusty as fuck in here. I should’ve gone without being a medieval knight, but what am I gonna’ do now? Its now or never.
Right on time! Alright, the agents should be walking across the road now. There! Stupid idiots are still wearing the Armoured Jackets. Now, the Insuites force composition should be minimal. They're not going after any Units, just agents.
Seven Gen 1’s and three Gen 2’s. One commander, who wears Insuite issue combat armour. I would say this would be easy, but to go from wearing the standard issue trenchcoat which weighed practically nothing and didn’t hinder movement, to a set of plate armour which weighs 35kg. Its heavy and i’ll be slower, so I need to account for my reaction times.
Its now or never.

What they saw was a idiot dressed in plate mail with a battered tabard charging towards them. They raised their weapons at me, but seconds before that, my longword came free of its sheath.
I cleaved through the exoskeletons of the Gen 1’s. Delicate circuitry cracked, fizzled and smoked under punishing blows of the Longsword. I wasn’t even using it correctly. I was using it like a cudgel.
Every ounce of strength I put into my blows. Until the Gen 2 Commander came along. He beat me in close combat. Within seconds, I was locked in a one on one duel with it.
While the agents fired there automatic rifles into the Synths around me. The commander had a close quarters weapons as well. A Baton. But not any baton, an electrified one. He was much faster than me. Each time I moved or let my guard drift, he would exploit it. He was wearing me down; he knew it.
No one had the advantage. Until, just as he was about to strike, he cocked his arm to far back, that is when I took the advantage, using all of my remaining strength, I thrust my longsword forward, into the Gen 2’s chest.
He did not die. He kept coming. However, each time he moved, he slowed, the Longsword was doing its work. All I needed to do, was keep on dodging. Have you tried dodging and rolling out of the way in plate armour? I don’t recommend it.
His false skin crackled and sloughed. Until all his skin burnt away, leaving a hollow husk of himself. Two bright, red eyes stared at me. Analysing, looking for openings and most of all learning. His exoskeleton was polished to a high sheen, his face a mockery of the human skull. His canines were almost vampiric in nature.
However, I had a plan. I still remember my close quarters combat training. No filthy Generation Two Synth is going to claim the life of Alfan!
I blocked, I countered, I parried. I was much better with my fists then I was with my weapon. His blows were absorbed by my armour, my blows pounded upon his skeleton. He still wouldn’t die. His reactions were becoming faster. He was adapting.
Then, he fainted. I took the bait. He delivered an impressive uppercut that almost shattered my helmet.
Until I noticed something in my peripheral vision. The Agents. They unloaded everything they had at the Synth Commander. His attention turned to them. I knew I wasn’t going to get another chance.
Using what little strength remained, my systems screamed at me to stop. I didn’t. If I was going to gain their trust, I had to act now. Clapping both of my hand around the Gen 2’s head, I pushed against it. The reinforced skulls was reduced to mush within seconds.
I introduced myself to the dumbfounded Agents. They couldn't believe what they were seeing. So I gave them my title. They were still confused, even after they thanked me for the assist.
This is it. One more step closer to being a renegade Courser. I would say I have a plan. But currently, I have no fucking clue what i’m going to do. Fuck it, being a Knight who protects people is...well, a bit better than being a remorseless murder machine who kills for fun.
