The Path to the Ocean
She shivers in the sand,
left to her inhibitions.
Not a second for goodbyes.
But with fortitude of mind,
she can find her ocean.
She splits her shell to bits,
and trudges through the alley.
Eyes turn and look away.
Though the path has many blocks,
she'll reach the smoggy city.
She's called to by the stars,
they tell her she must come.
Shaken, woken, groggy.
Like life under a tree,
she'll shake the hand that's guiding.
She's seemed to found her home.
It's broken, but it's brilliant.
Yelling down the stairs.
The lights, they never end.
She finds her life unfair.
She treads into the storm,
the current pulls her in.
It's all turned for the better.
Holding on to hope,
She can find her ocean.

Very personal, obscuring the meaning. Enjoyed the cadence quite a bit. What pulls her to the city? Is there a mixture of metaphor and literal imagery? Interesting stuff.
Oh yea. The outside story is of a newly hatched sea turtle who is trying to find the ocean. Sometimes instead of following the stars to the water, they follow the city lights instead. (At least that's how it works in my story.)
I definitely intended for multiple meanings here and want to revise it some more.
