To all X1 Carbon 5th gen WQHD owners - Your opinions please

I'm looking for your opinions of the WQHD screen of the X1 Carbon 5th gen (owners only please). Where I live, they haven't starting selling them yet, only the 1920x1080 available so I was wondering whether or not you are happy with your WQHD.

Are you on Windows or Linux?

Extra points for images. Thanks.

I received mine few days ago and I am very happy with the screen quality. I do emails, texting, web, and code editing. I am getting up to 10 hours of battery life. It can last 10+ hours if it is just idle with wifi on. I am running fedora 26 with tlp service on. It is worth the wait for me.

I've only had mine for a couple of days but I'm really happy with mine! I actually had the FHD X1C before, then did an exchange when I saw the WHQD was released. I'm really glad I switched over, I haven't noticed any significant loss in battery life (yet) and the screen is noticeably brighter and clearer. I'm no expert on image quality and color representation, but I think for the $70 difference and marginal loss in battery life, it's a great upgrade. if you don't need a X1C ASAP, I would highly recommend waiting a tiny bit longer for the WQHD. It's a thinkpad and in the end, waiting another month or so will feel so little in the scale of owning a thinkpad for years. Best of luck.

I've posted a number of pictures in my delivery thread from a couple of days ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/6nb76k/x1c_gen5_wqhd_delivered/

I'm very happy with the screen. Very even brightness and good viewing angles. Absolute brightness is more than acceptable even if I wouldn't mind another 20-30% for when I need to use it outdoors.

I had it for a few days and the WQHD looks great on Windows 10 with 200% DPI scale. Came from FHD and never look back.

Is anyone interested in doing a formal battery benchmark? It would be really helpful for the rest of us.

Yep, I am happy to do this. I have the FHD and my WQHD will arrive in a couple days.

Just need a good testing methodology, it's been suggested to use a Selenium script to automate Firefox.

Wow. I'd be hugely appreciative, and would be very interest in your testing results as well as your advice on the appearance of the screens.

I'm in a stalemate right now and unable to decide. Your opinion would sway my purchase decision.

I ran a test last night and I'm just about to make a thread about it. I'm going to run another one tonight to get some more data, but indicatively here they are: FHD: 5 hours 26 mins WQHD: 5 hours 2 mins

Not much of a difference! I'll post more info in the thread :)

I'm surprised it's such a small difference. Also a relative small price difference. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your tests! I'll likely by WQHD based on this.

Is the WQHD screen visually nicer? Would you pick the over the FHD again? Noticeably different?
