Since the X1 Carbon in Europe is still missing the WQHD option, I'm affording myself these days in waiting to look at my other option - the P51.

I know many of us tell ourselves that one of the great things about it is that you can change just about anything and everything on it. In real life, we rarely do. At least that's true for me. As an example: I've looked at my T420s and thought "Hmm... maybe a new battery and perhaps a screen mod", but then I know that I wouldn't use it since the CPU lacks so many hardware capabilities that is needed in 2017.

In any case, I like the P51 and I like the fact that I know that it can be modified, even though I probably won't.

So, what's your tho

I'm looking for your opinions of the WQHD screen of the X1 Carbon 5th gen (owners only please). Where I live, they haven't starting selling them yet, only the 1920x1080 available so I was wondering whether or not you are happy with your WQHD.

Are you on Windows or Linux?

Extra points for images. Thanks.

Some thoughts on buying my next Thinkpad.

My daily driver today is a modified T440s with the LiteOn keyboard, the AUO screen and the T450s trackpad.
I'm eyeing the T470, the Carbon X1, or the P51.

My use case is development (sublime + virtualbox), photoshop stuff, browsing etc. No real heavy lifting, nor any gaming.

My pro/con list for each are as follows:

T470

  • Really good overall computer with two batteries.
  • The only real downside is the Innolux screen. Having the AUO today on my old T440s it would actually be a step back to buy a new computer. Feels weird and I would have to buy an AUO screen again and become a hardware tinkerer that I really hate b

I'm eyeing the P51 as my next Thinkpad (currently running modified T440s).

I'm a bit hesitant though, seeing as how it's north of $2000 in a quite modest specification, probably closer to $2500 if I got it spec'ed the way I want it.

So, my question is really, why is it so expensive compared to say the T570? Also, is it worth it, do you think?

Thanks.

I'm looking at the summer sale of the X1 Carbon but I'm worried that when using it on the lap, it will "easily tip over" from the fact that it's so lightweight, that the screen will actually be the part on it that almost weighs more than the base.

I'm not saying this is the case, I'm wondering if it is?

I'm considering the T470 (as it has changable batteries and seem a bit more sturdy) or the X1 Carbon. Thanks.

I've been struggling to find quality shirt fabrics for typical shirts for men.

As an example, you can see these shirts:

http://www.canali.com/en_us/clothing/dress-shirts.html

I mean, they're nothing special as such, but I'll be d**ned if I can find any shop on the internet having anything remotely like this, when it comes to fabric.

Just to be clear. I'm looking to sew a couple of shirts and I'm drawing zero so far when it comes to where to find cotton fabric to make them.

Any help is much appreciated.
