Testament
journey forth my boy,
where red sand shifts air, steams,
stings the eyes, skin sweats cimarron,
rubber boils, soles bubble, shatter
but be not deterred by pitter patter -
baby steps at steady pace
and soon you’ll see
the sea, my boy,
you are destined to be
urchin of tranquility-
heat is but a feeling,
skin is but a shell and
by the sea, my son,
all shells are unique-
please arrive alive
where soft shore salt tickles,
trickles up the land. dip your
toes into ocean, ripple loud
as you skip melted shoes, count how
long it doesn’t matter after
they sink, since you already arrived-
make it through.
I know you as the dreamer,
know you travel air above
since thought is light
and you are most full of it.
if one can survive inferno
you are he: half man, half infinity,
or as long as thought exists-
you, ascream with blisters
eyes bulging, red to the core,
tattered mess of flesh,
you, my love, exist further
than pure skeleton can move, or
rather I know that you live,
I know your purpose,
and you can reach it intact
