If WG removed or nerfed arty, would WG compensate those that own it? How?

wow so expensive to generate fake currency!!
right? It's not like they're writing him a check or something..
Yes but you're not the problem, RKT, I've played on teams with and against you and you're consistently good support. Window lickers that focus single tanks until they're gone against all reasonable access to shooting positions are damaging to team play. Players that xvm focus when they don't have a real shots on the players in question aren't helping either.
And this would be no problem if those players were driving a TD or light tank, right?
No of course it's an issue if they're playing other classes. The effect is just magnified by the bad mechanics artillery provides.
Not at all.
But to avoid even your whining all they would have to do is allow the player base to decide if they wish to play with arty or not. That way you would still have all of your pixel ego boosters just I feel a lot of people would not wish to play with you which would take the fun out of it for you.
Don't hate the player hate the game I guess.
Well if you hate the game so much, there's an uninstall button lying around somewhere.
WG will never remove arty, no matter how overwhelmingly game-breaking it is, ∴ there is no need to ask the question.
sad but true. Maybe they will consider this move when they release the defender black and nobody is buying it...
Arty pulls people who otherwise aren't capable of faster paced action to the game. Removing it would mean less $$$ and outrage from part of the community. Some people were really up in arms when you couldn't play arty in platoons even.
That being said, they could buff large first aid kit or spall liner to counter arty in a significant way, or just redesign spall liner altogether to indirectly nerf arty including the lefh. Sucks for arty players but WG likely wouldn't need to compensate them.
So you are saying that arty takes less skill than other classes in a skill based game?
Why have a skill based game?
Would arty players not be just as happy to buy Win8 and awards or just have tehm given to them?

Diminishing returns on the stun, lower the splash radius to previous values, and arty is fine.
the should just make an active camo net make you not be visable to arties wile in arty view lol
by removing arty they would be compensating them with a far superior game. just think about those games where there are no arty (and TDs). how fun and dynamic are
You win. This so much.
Arty are the lowest XP earners in the game
And the lowest damage dealers in the game
And you hope that WG will ignore the actual stats and nerf the most nerfed tank in the game?
If you get rid of arty, then you will find heavily armored tanks locking down entire maps with no fear of being damaged. Arty is there to stop that happening
I like playing arty, I like hunting them down and killing them, I like using them to farm assist damage, and I like them to help whittle some of the HP off top tier tanks that would otherwise just steamroll through teams
Games without arty generally suck, be careful what you wish for
There are no issues with "armored tanks locking down entire maps with no fear of being damaged" currently in matchups where there is no arty. How would that change if arty was removed?
Ever played Karelia when neither team has arty (or other high-caliber HE) and a T-62A, IS-7, or other tank with good turret armor blitzes the southern hills? It isn't just a powerful position, it completely shuts down that flank as all the enemy vehicles who went south are helpless to remove you. Even if they try falling back, they're going to be in a much worse map position, and if they try digging you out with low-caliber HE you'll be able to drain thousands of hitpoints before they remove a noticeable chunk of your own health.
This is just one example that I've seen used multiple times to extraordinary effect. "Now wait", you say, "that's just bad map design." That is true, which leads to my next point.
If you want to seriously design a plan for the removal of artillery, you first have to list all the positive impacts of arty. What is the class good for? For every such bullet point, you need to come up with a way to compensate for the loss of arty to perform that task. Just saying "lol arty is cancer delet this" isn't really sufficient to convince anyone.
Just saying "lol arty is cancer delet this" isn't really sufficient to convince anyone.
It's quite convincing, but not in the direction they would like.
They never answer that, just downvote. LOL
WG: You can’t see a tank twice 06Wallst: Unless you paint it black
Not sure how compensation would take place but it would. The game can't sustain artillery now that it's reached full capacity of three per side again after the latest rebalance. These moronic developers have dug themselves in a deeper hole with the latest Stun mechanic. Now in addition to being bombed, they fuck your crew skills. 11/10 development team.
Just allow players to select between a queue that has arty and one that does not. No compensation needed at all.
I know WG won't remove it, but the game would be better in almost every single way if they did. Of course, they would have to modify other aspects of the game (i.e reworking the maps so it is easier to counter hulldown tanks) but overall the game and the player base would be better for it. As for compensation, as much as I'd like to laugh in their face, have them get nothing and say "That's what you get for ruining everybody else's fun", something has to be done. Probably just give them the xp they used grinding whatever lines they did in free xp and that would be enough, plus give gold to the people who owned the LeFH (it is incredibly hard for me to say this) and the Sexton premium sky cancer. If they nerfed it, no compensation at all is needed. The Hellcat owners didn't get any compensation when that was nerfed- there was no reason for them to. So arty players shouldn't get anything either.
EDIT: If you're going to downvote me, at least argue your point. Either that or I'm going to assume the downvoters are a bunch of butthurt clickers who can't think of any counter points^oh^wait^there^aren't^any.
This comment was in response to general distaste for arty, but I felt it was worthy of a top-level comment.
Not everyone plays the game to get the purplest stats or the highest winrate. Some people actually play the game for fun (a shocking revelation I know).
Most players don't care about skill ceilings or competitive metas or any of that, they're just here to drive around in WWII-era tanks and shoot other tanks, artillery included. That's hardly an uncommon motivation - it's what brought me to the game initially.
In particular, thanks to this game's slow pace, forgiving mechanics, and historical backdrop, it is very attractive for older adults who aren't particularly skilled and haves no intention of changing that. For them, gaming is a fun activity, maybe even a hobby, but not an obsession.
The game is a casual game and it was always meant to be like that. The fact that a handful of us players have gotten good enough at it to create a competitive scene is basically a happy accident. WG is willing to listen to us but at the end of the day it's the core playerbase who matters most to them. That's why we have tanks like the Super Conqueror, which was buffed way beyond the point of reason because average players weren't doing well in it, as well as the entire artillery class because it's very accessible.
Whenever I see a player with lots of battles in arty and a poor winrate, I imagine a 70-something disabled veteran with hand tremors sitting behind that screen. There aren't any other games made for him - when the only alternative is staring at the TV as dementia slowly sets in, I'd much rather him be playing this game.
It's hard to cater to both audiences, and many times WG has managed to make both groups happy, but at the end of the day the core casual audience matters most to them. The best us theorycrafters can do is try to come up with ideas that make both groups happy, not just ones that help our group at the expense of every other group.
