Grats!! I noticed the image is a little soft (I have the medical variant 20m2mdu), could just be the svideo doing it but, you way want to try adjusting focus on the flyback for a sharper image (some people like a slightly soft image though :) up to you!! )
Mind if I ask how much you paid? I am looking to get one of these as the 14" i have leaves much to be desired and I'd like an idea of a good price.
I paid $300, and that seems similar to the prices you will find for them on eBay. I'm not the best person to ask about any of this though.
Hell, I may have passed on a better screen today. These same guys had a PVM-2030 (I'm pretty sure that is not as good as the 20M2U), and a type of BVM which I didn't get the model number for. The BVM probably would have been better, and was about the same size, but I'm pretty sure that it would be a bit much for me to deal with and it looked a bit beat up.
Yeah, that's what I have seen as well. I have a PVM-2530 that has really warped geometry and it's a much older set (late 80s I believe) but the stereo speakers are really nice. Definitely not as good as a 20M2U.
I picked up a cheap set of Logitech speakers + subwoofer and have been very happy with that. I think I could probably do better, I believe some SNES games support the original Pro Logic standard, but I don't really want to go down that rabbit hole.
I was finally able to find a nice PVM locally!
Previously I was using a Philips LTC 12919/90: https://www.reddit.com/r/crtgaming/comments/6kaky8/philips_ltc_291990_it_isnt_perfect_but_im_happy/
However this PVM-20M2U showed up recently on Craigslist about an hour and a half away from my city, and I had to jump on it. Super happy to finally have something that supports RGB, and it is the perfect size for me.
Currently I have most of my systems hooked up via s-video, as I will need to order some s-cart cables for the relevant consoles, a switch and a s-scart-to-BNC break-out cable (I believe that is all I will need). Still, it looks noticeably better than the Philips even just comparing their display of s-video content.
Any suggestions as to where I could do some reading on how to get the best image out of my display? I'm definitely a layman when it comes to the image settings.
