I like that this poem is pithy and clever! I think in a poem this short, it's important to use the absolute most powerful/precise words possible to contribute to the mood you're going for. 'good', for instance, doesn't contribute much semantic punch.  

Last line could use some work, I think. It has one too many syllables and becomes kind of awkward and forces the rhyme. Similarly "you're yearning" is disruptive for me, it feels a little clumsy which takes me out of the harder sounds that give the piece sound 'precise' (where that does work, by the way, I think it reinforces the tone very well. Especially "clench the dial turning').

There's a neat idea here that is well on its way. Good luck with this, I hope my comments are helpful.

I like the first 4 lines but the last 4 lines could use some revising. The last 4 lines lack the rhyme and imagery which the first 4 painted. Since it's a relatively short poem, it should have a much stronger finish. I think this poem will be much more interesting if it was longer and you continued with the store telling of the thief :)

Study the sounds of the gears

with good ears. 

Clench the dial turning,

for fortune you’re yearning.

Disarm the alarm,

don’t get caught,

or you’ll be trapped 

without them having fought.
