PvP Weapon Talents - Deadly/Responsive/Competent or Unforgiving/Responsive/Competent?

Question

Managed to complete a classy striker build this weekend (thanks RNGesus) and looking to get into some good PvP action. Essentially the talents come down to deadly vs unforgiving. I'm running a 7/6/3 build speccing into CHC/CHD where possible.

My inexperienced thoughts are that since I'm running more FA that deadly might be the better option, and if I had a 9k STAM build then unforgiving would be the best choice? I crafted the weapon specifically for the free competent talent which I believe is pretty solid for PvP but please correct me if not. Any input would be appreciated!

Personally, I would opt for Unforgiving over Deadly, especially if I'm running Assault rifles. If you're using an SMG and have really high CHC, then Deadly probably becomes a better option.

I've heard good things about running an AR with Responsive/Deadly/Unforgiving for PVP. I'm currently crafting LWM4s for that roll.

I was thinkin the same and just scored one from a dz boss :)

Swap out Competent, as deadly on an AR is just meh, due to lack of native CHC

Deadly is additive to all other headshot and crit damage on your build. If you're spec'd to crit, you are going to have a lot already and you will not get a 15% boost to your total damage (only on crits of course). It's usually closer to 6%, but would need to know your actual CHD total.

Unforgiving is all weapon damage, so it is additive to your Striker stacks and gloves (because I'm going to assume you have 12% AR on the gloves). That means you start at 112% AWD, and your Competent kicks that up to 122%. Then with Unforgiving your second health bar is 132% and your last bar is 147%. As with Deadly, the impact to your total damage is going to be significantly less that that 10/25%. But it will be there all the time, not just when you crit.

Bottom line, there's likely to be negligible difference between the two, but Unforgiving will be more reliable.

Responsive, deadly, unforgiving. I only go competant if im going in on skill haste to make it worthwhile.

Why on earth would you not use Competent? And what does it have to do with skill haste? Logically the only deciding factor on whether to go Deadly or Competent should be how much CHC you have in your build.

ANY skill use (pulse, heal, etc) results in a 10% damage increase for 15 seconds on EVERY hit. 15 seconds is a long time in a PvP encounter.

I tried all combos on a LWM4 and I prefer Vicious/Deadly/Fierce

I've tried both and have had more success with unforgiving on lwm4 PVP. LWM4. House Responsive. Responsive Unforgiving. Deadly Competent

Didn’t see weapon types, I only use deadly with SMGs.

Responsive, Unforgiving, Competent is a great PvP set.

Deadly is always a great choice for any crit chance build imo. I run 2 LWM4’s on my 6k striker, my main gun has deadly, responsive, and determined while my trade gun has deadly, responsive, unforgiving. Best way to figure out for sure what works for you is to try it in both ways.

Low returns on Deadly IMO. If you're CHC chance is low (as often is with ARs), you'll benefit from Responsive far more often.

If you're running SMG, Deadly is more useful.
