Reflections on Activism and Protest.

Today I experienced the great joy of going to class on a modern college campus and not only learning from my professor that Hate Speech wasn't the same thing as free speech and thus not protected by the 1st amendment, but also I got to sit through twenty minutes of "March For Our Lives" speeches.

Immediately I was transported to an almost cult-like ritual, the were tears in the classroom as we watched the camera pan as a bald-hispanic woman by the name of "Emma Gonzales" I believe stared silently at a crowd of people, countless placards lifted above the crowd with a sundry hashtags and slogans, perhaps the most disturbing being pictures of Ms. Gonzales herself, with the stereotypical "Hope" design as though she were the Dear Leader of some third world country.

Now while others seemed more brought to tears by the stereotypical mantras of "Enough" and "Common Sense Gun Control" and the professor told us to admire their bravery, I was more amazed by how slick a production the whole thing was. Honestly if you were an anti-gun politician, "March For Our Lives" was perhaps the most perfectly slick response to a mass shooting in human history; you had a brave teen who suddenly without prompting interviews his classmates about their views on gun control during a shooting (or he did it after the shooting, or he immediately rode on his bike to get to the shooting to interview people about gun control, the story's been all over the place), you had these teens surprisingly become a plucky cast of characters for the news, frequently appearing on CNN where they show off their #Wokeness by talking about how much money the NRA donated to certain politicians, then you have extra survivors visit a townhall where they had a 2 minute hate on guns, then finally--and most shocking of all--these plucky teens somehow had the resources to finance a major rally in Washington DC, with speakers and television screens, and sister-rallies all across the country!

Of course the question is never raised as to how a bunch of teens got the resources to organize a rally, where the money and the placards and banners and permits came from, almost no attention is given to the caste of "professional activists" that exist to serve the whims of the political establishment.

The fact is there hasn't been a major grassroots protest in America since maybe Occupy Wall Street--or rather, there hasn't been a major grassroots protest that's affected anything since OWS, because for all its faults at least OWS changed political discourse for a while. The Pro-Life movement attracts massive crowds to its rallies, but it goes essentially ignored by the political establishment and media, the Democrats have openly admitted to starting a riot in Chicago that injured numerous police and civilians all to disrupt a Trump Rally as well as essentially dressing up the mentally ill and homeless to be disruptive of their political opponents, a tactic they term "bird dogging" I believe and the media ignores this insane kind of Mafia Politics.

Activism, especially on the Right in modern Western Nations, is utterly useless. Not only has the establishment perfected the art of quashing protests it dislikes, they've also mastered the ability to spearhead marches and protests for causes they do support. "March For Our Lives" was elevated to its current position because there's nothing more tantalizing to the Global Political Establishment--and it is indeed a global problem, as that's the only thing that can explain the sheer arrogance of European Union ministers lambasting American Tax Policy as "unfair" and former President Obama trying to threaten Brits to stay in the Union.

Right Wing Protest is useless, because the Western Establishment is not Right Wing and in fact hostile to Right Wing interests. Right Wing Protesters can fill out all the correct forms and be as peaceful as possible, but can still expect the police to violently crack down on them whilst turning a blind eye to leftist violence, because the modern Left is nothing less than an arm of establishment politics. If The Right is violent, the police will break them up instantly, if it's peaceful, then Antifa will be there to make violent threats and throw rocks in order to trigger violence so the police can break up the protest, if neither of those things happen, the police will still break up the protest because "the risk of violence is too high, this is a state of emergency", and if that doesn't happen, one can expect the protest to have no coverage unless it's profoundly negative and built on lies more than anything.

Protests then, as the great Jacobite Magazine has explained before, are nothing less than victory parades for establishment politics. The cabal of professional activists are like minutemen of old, ready to--at a moments notice--block a street here or stoke a riot there. Protests are not a challenge to established political power, but rather a buff to it, an enhancement to it, the lie that it ever "changes" things is simply told so a few people do the professional's jobs for free.

Meanwhile in countries where the Right is in ascendance, we see the opposite of The West. Poland can have a rally to celebrate independence that The West disgustingly calls a "Nazi Rally" and when thugs break up a pride parade, it's with the police conveniently turning around and winking at the right.

Change can only ever come about through violent revolution wherein a minority party monopolizes politics via force, or through a peaceful coup of the establishment machine, more than mere populism but an active concerted network to seize the apparatus of power and use it for one's own ends.

Thus the objective of The Right shouldn't be "protests", political activism is entirely useless without power to back it up, what the Right needs is a concerted effort to not only grasp institutional power, but to wield it offensively. The Right should mimic the left in being actively discriminatory in every field it enters, because while the old saying that "any institution which is not openly conservative inevitably becomes liberal" is true, there's no reason it cannot be inverted. Conservative teachers should actively attempt to fail liberal students who express liberal ideas just as the left does to the right, wherever possible, classrooms should become indoctrination centers where the worst excesses of the left are put onto prominent display, Conservative Judges should not try to rule "fairly" but to rule Conservatively, the law should be abused in conservative states as much as possible towards partisanship--after all, California is currently attempting to prosecute a man for what amounts to hate speech, the left does not care about the law when it doesn't suit them.

Thus in all things the Right must be conspiratorial and discriminatory, as borrowing The Left's own tactics is the greatest weapon against The Left. The media will under no circumstances side with The Right Wing, and I'm being entirely literal here: the media always sides Left. The Weather Underground after multiple attempts to murder people and a bombing campaign got off scott-fucking-free and more than that, the brains behind them was given a glowing Times article. By borrowing the Left's tactics, The Right renders them irradiated to the Left, the media cannot bitch about masked goons shoving a speaker off the stage if it keeps writing "Antifa seeks peace through violence" pieces. Either the tactic goes out the window as "unacceptable" (because the right is doing it) or the media stays mum and Leftists get a taste of their own medicine.

But The Right should never protest, protesting is only something that should be done when your side actually has power, it isn't an offensive tactic but rather an internal cleansing, an attempt to saturate establishment ideas on all levels of society. The Right needs to trade the placard in for a white collared shirt, ambition, and a willingness to not be fair but to be right.

Beg to differ. No one is siding with commies or even socialists. Besides, most commies and socialists don't want gun control and see this all as a liberal charade.

One must be extremely retarded to believe the media always sides left

Look at the CNN, which went into mental gymnastics to portray Antifa as "seeking peace through violence".

Look at it again when it wonders aloud why Putin isn't celebrating the soviet takeover of Russia

Here's the simple fact of the matter, leftists will generally complain that the media isn't on "their side", but this almost always manifests in some referral to the size of FOX's audience (ignoring that it exists as essentially the only network with tangentially conservative views whilst every other network skews left) while essentially complaining that the media isn't talking about the Labor Theory of Value constantly.

The fact is that the media will do everything it can to protect anything perceived as "Left Wing", to the point of eventually resorting to caveman speak with "Fascism bad, Communism Good-ish.

The only "opposition" to leftism in the media is that the perception of "communism = the soviet union", and even then they still try to whitewash the Soviet Union's reputation, they are not actually opposed to communism, rather they'd give a vague "Oh well, it's a great idea on paper but not really feasible" kind of thing, more a waiting for the revolution to happen rather than actively stoking the flames of revolution.

The media is left, in no world would the Weather Underground be given what is essentially a love note in Time unless it were left.

...Please, explain to me how the line:

Why is Putin worried about something that happened 100 years ago? For starters, Russia's strongman does not want to draw attention to a popular uprising that toppled an empire.

Which implies the Soviets were a "popular uprising" and insinuates Putin has his own "Empire" is somehow a liberal wondering: "Why doesn't this communist celebrate communist day."

Again the explicit goals behind them accurately make them that way. And they're still hedging on communism.

So you'll say the media calls communism a good thing but still try to insinuate it isn't left?

Why do you think the establishment is leftist? By what metric? Certainly, they are ubquitously pro-capitalist with very minor exceptions outside of the mainstream (Jacobin magazine, etc.). If it has to do with some kind of anti-white sentiment, what about Trump and Fox News? Certainly they carry enough authority to be considered at least part of the establishment.

4
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

Trump is arguably the exact opposite of the establishment and the closest you'd get to an independent president.

That's the thing, people tout his status as "president" as somehow making him a member of the establishment, forgetting that the Republican Party essentially schismed over him, Republican senators come out of the woodwork to rant about him and try to undermine his policy, hell in some primary states they wouldn't even let Republicans vote, just declaring their delegates instead for Ted Cruz.

Not a single major paper in America supported him and we're currently going on another year of some partisan investigation that's yielded us only indictments over procedure and little else. The opposition to Trump exists on almost all levels of government and media, and hell, people were out and out asking for a deepstate coup when he came into the reigns of the presidency.

As for "ubiquitously pro-capitalist" these people are "pro-capitalist" as much as a slave who stays quiet about his master is "pro-slavery". These people will sigh and complain about capitalism all the fucking time and are only "capitalist" by virtue of not knowing anything else and being cynical about Soviet Communism.

You can openly advocate communism in an American classroom, whilst you can't even insinuate anything "fascist" without protests and calls for your resignation beating down your door.

The New York Post supported him, actually.

I wouldn't say Donald Trump is part of the political establishment, but the dude is a billionaire heir to a real estate fortune from Manhattan. He is much more a part of the powerful class of capitalists that control this country than most people. To me, "the etablishment" is multi-faceted.

Besides, the Republicans are absolutely the political establishment at the moment, and I think they would qualify as right-wing. Does right wing have to be fascist, to you?

3
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

Never feel comfortable explaining personal details like that because of the propensity of Right Wingers being doxxed, but I'll provide some background that should be helpful.

The way the college I attend "works" is that you have to have a certain amount of "points" in a broad group of subjects with specific classes under the umbrella of the subject.

So let's say you have to have some "points" in "Critical Thinking/Philosophical Insight", well you better hope to Christ you get into the one or two "Western Philosophy" classes available or you'll have to take, as an example, an "African American Studies" course as the lone white guy because "Critical Race Studies" falls under "Critical Thinking"--in my case I ended up taking a course on "Hispanic Studies" in spite of having a major involved with business because I needed to meet aforementioned "Critical Thinking" requirement.

Imagine being the only white person in a room filled with posters where the only white people are depicted as violent thugs with blood dripping from their mouths, and with a professor that ended the course saying "I don't know whether the Whites will give up power peacefully, that's for you to decide." And you'll get a taste of the class.

More than that, the school also decided "Social Justice" was important enough that it encouraged professors to incorporate themes of it in classes not even related to social justice.

So imagine you're majoring in a subject related to business, and you have to take a course on "International Business", only for the professor to smile and say that because of the work of Dean so-and-so we were instead going to have a course on Privilege, Racial Politics, and the legacy of colonialism, with the final being actually attending a protest and coursework such as "all males in the class sit like women" or "write down your privileges because of race/gender/religion".

I got it better than a buddy, he and the men in his class had a midterm where they were marched into class blindfolded while the women were told to catcall them, then they had to sit in a fucking circle while the women explain their personal problems with "men" and "male privilege".

Beyond even the social justice courses, leftism permeates virtually every single classroom and every level of the campus. I've sat in on a western civ class that insisted that all the great innovations of western civilization were stolen from other cultures, and divided the old Capitalism vs Socialism debate into two camps: "Capitalists thought you couldn't treat people well and make a profit, socialists thought you could still treat people good and make a decent amount of money." After the election I had professors incorporate "examples" such as "Compare Trump to an animal, just one animal", going row by row, refusing to let you refuse to answer, so if you're the one or two Trump supporters in the class, all fucking eyes are on you and you have to look at the seven other people on your left who all said some variation of "Oh he's a pig, he's a baboon".

Honestly college probably helped radicalize me from milque-toast libertarianism to what I am now: the free market can't do shit and leftists will abuse any kind of institutional power they're given. Get rid of the institutions and they'll just abuse private power, and adopting a laisez-faire "live and let live" attitude sure as fuck isn't going to protect you while the crowd of "Whitey gotta give up his power" grows larger and larger.

2
Emoticone11For Planning and Information Theory•

Never feel comfortable explaining personal details like that because of the propensity of Right Wingers being doxxed, but I'll provide some background that should be helpful.

Completely fair. I also avoid giving out any information that could uniquely identify myself in real life. I'm just interested about the course topic & degree.

as an example, an "African American Studies" course as the lone white guy because "Critical Race Studies" falls under "Critical Thinking"

I'm not really sure I get why taking an African American Studies course is a bad thing- I audited such a course at my university, and while there were a number of other white guys in the class (not that it matters to me), I learned a ton from the course itself. It was mostly about literature and culture, which I find extremely interesting, especially circa the 20s. Du Bois is also one of my favorite authors, and I was mostly introduced to his work through the course.

And there's plenty of critical thinking to be applied to race. Why would a Papuan and Mbenga, upon moving to somewhere like the US, both be considered "black"? Why have our boundaries for "whiteness" changed over time, historically? Answering these questions requires some amount of critical thought towards the notions which are held "popularly" by society.

Imagine being the only white person in a room filled with posters where the only white people are depicted as violent thugs with blood dripping from their mouths, and with a professor that ended the course saying "I don't know whether the Whites will give up power peacefully, that's for you to decide." And you'll get a taste of the class.

Truthfully, I just don't believe an ounce of this. It's pretty standard for "____ studies" courses to consist of looking at the history and cultural movements among a demographic (music, clothing, dance, literature, etc.) You're portraying the courses as being focused primarily on popular media, which I find doubtful considering the way "_____ studies" are typically taught.

Of course, I don't know your particular school or professor, and you can't give them out. But I do think I have ample reason to be skeptical, considering the propensity of the right to have no problems using outright lies and misinformation to either "redpill" people or score points against ideological enemies.

At the very least, do you have images of these posters? Nearly all university lecture rooms are used for multiple courses. Are there just permanent posters of evil white people there for all the courses, or does the professor diligently put up & take down the posters before and after every class?

So imagine you're majoring in a subject related to business, and you have to take a course on "International Business", only for the professor to smile and say that because of the work of Dean so-and-so we were instead going to have a course on Privilege, Racial Politics, and the legacy of colonialism, with the final being actually attending a protest and coursework such as "all males in the class sit like women" or "write down your privileges because of race/gender/religion".

Oh, come fucking on. Please try to be more subtle. This reads like a fucking shitpost.

I have never- never- heard of a university forcing a course on something such as business to be instead a topic in a completely different field of study. This simply doesn't happen. The decision's not even up to the dean- all the decisions are passed through a board of directors or shareholders, who would never approve something which would create such controversy and potentially harm profits. Nor have I ever heard about a course in which midterms and finals are something different than, you know, exams, papers, or course projects. Certainly not something silly like being catcalled or sitting like women.

So if your uni is indeed doing these sorts of things, it would be a huge transgression from the norm. Which begs the question: why aren't there articles on this? I mean, the right jumps on things far less than people literally being forced to undergo verbal abuse as a midterm. All it takes is one of the poor men in that class speaking up. Where's all the news on this?

You know what I've realized, just analyzing your tactics here? You talk too much. If you had more self control and just stuck with your original example, you might have more of a chance of "redpilling" people or whatever game you're trying to play. Your examples are too silly; they only work well on people who are far removed from colleges and only see them through the political media- e.g. rural population, grandpas, etc. People who have experience with the way universities are typically run will find them very difficult to believe.

As someone with an abiding love of history, we talked about the history of Hispanics in America from something almost resembling racial revanchist propaganda, how the Americans "betrayed" Mexico during the Mexican-American War, our textbook was called Critical Race Theory I believe, thoroughly uninteresting.

You can choose to not believe it, but it's what I experienced firsthand.

Of course, I don't know your particular school or professor, and you can't give them out. You're skeptic of me giving my personal experience whilst trusting some liberal college professor to give his?

At the very least, do you have images of these posters? Nearly all university lecture rooms are used for multiple courses. Are there just permanent posters of evil white people there for all the courses, or does the professor diligently put up & take down the posters before and after every class?

I'll admit to a fib in calling them posters, if only because I'll change a term around here and there to try and protect my identity when it comes to what college I'm attending.

The truth is it's a mural. An ugly painted thing taking up an entire wall; I don't want to go into too detailed a description, but it portrays various culturally important hispanics, with the one white person on it being some fat ICE agent with fangs and blood dripping from his mouth whilst attempting to beat someone with a truncheon.

I feel that description is far too specific as it stands, but it's my hope that the sub is small and dispersed enough that most wont know what mural I'm referring to.

I have never- never- heard of a university forcing a course on something such as business to be instead a topic in a completely field of study. This simply doesn't happen.

It does and did happen. Hell I remember the first day of class clearly, the professor comes in looking like some remnant from the hippie movement and smiles saying that whilst we thought the class would be about business overseas, we'll be really discussing colonialism and white privilege.

The decision's not even up to the dean- all the decisions are passed through a board of directors or shareholders, who would never approve something which would create such controversy. Nor have I ever heard about a course in which midterms and finals are something different than, you know, exams, papers, or course projects. Certainly not something silly like being catcalled or sitting like women.

All I remember of her claim was that the college allowed it, fact of the matter though is I spent my final editing together some cringe as fuck footage of a protest the rest of my team went to with the old union song "Which Side Are You On?" playing in the background. I fucking loathed it.

So if your uni is indeed doing these sorts of things, it would be a huge transgression from the norm. Which begs the question: why aren't there articles on this?

Because no one fucking cares. They like explosive shit, students expelled for wearing MAGA hats, being forced to be an "Activist" (which included things from attending a protest or taking a tour through a local refuge for LGBTQ youth who are kicked out of the house) doesn't fucking matter to sensationalist conservative news, leftleaning mainstream media still want to give the illusion that all of the insanity on college is a gross exaggeration, and no conservative wants to be the one guy to speak up on campus and either fail the course or get lambasted as a homophobe or what have you.

That's how it works, you just fall in line, and I fucking hate them for it. After sitting through these fucking classes again and again, I just have a deep hatred of the left that's been left to simmer unabated.

You know what I've realized, just analyzing your tactics here? You talk too much.

What fucking "tactics" when I'm just explaining what I've experienced at college?

If you had more self control and just stuck with your original example, you might have more of a chance of "redpilling" people or whatever game you're trying to play.

From my perspective the only one playing games is the guy trying to say "this isn't happening! Trust us!"

Your examples are too silly; they only work well on people who are far removed from colleges and only see them through the political media- e.g. rural population, grandpas, etc. People who have experience with the way universities are typically run will find them very difficult to believe.

You're skeptic of me giving my personal experience whilst trusting some liberal college professor to give his?

Look, if you actually read the article, and analyze the specific details he mentioned, you'll find that much of it can actually be verified. For instance, just looking up this guy's name along with "ratemyprofessors" yields this 4chan thread, where if you scroll down it mentions the Josh Cuevas raid, and a few comments later proposes falsely attributing quotes to the main target of the thread.

I don't want to go into too detailed a description, but it portrays various culturally important hispanics, with the one white person on it being some fat ICE agent with fangs and blood dripping from his mouth whilst attempting to beat someone with a truncheon.

Even assuming this is true (I'm still not clear why there would be a mural such as this in a college lecture hall, which would be used for functions other than hispanic studies), you've already revealed important context which affects the narrative you're trying to make: the mural is a statement against ICE agents, not against white people.

All I remember of her claim was that the college allowed it

"Her"? Earlier you said it was a "he".

Because no one fucking cares. They like explosive shit

Being forced to be subjected to verbal abuse as a midterm, being lied to about the course you're taking, aren't explosive shit? At least half of the things on sites like campusreform.org are more trivial than this. And you seem to be implying they're a big deal here...

and no conservative wants to be the one guy to speak up on campus and either fail the course or get lambasted as a homophobe or what have you.

All such a conservative has to do is anonymously write to a conservative news site after your course is over, and boom, you instantly have all of the "big name" conservative news sites sharing it around and making a huge deal out of it. Quit it with the crocodile tears.

Then you either haven't experienced how universities are typically run or you're a liar.

I'm a graduate student at one, and have worked with campus committees in the past. You are right about one thing: university administration is fucking incompetent. They never do anything without looking at what all the other universities are doing (benchmarking), and even then they can't get it right. Which makes me even more skeptical of the claim that your college is somehow taking big leaps against the mainstream in the ways in which the dean can just "command" courses to be a completely different subject, substitute midterms/finals for abrasive performance art, etc.

Let me put it like this: all forms of right-wing thought are unaccepted to some degree outside of deep red states, but some are more unaccepted than others. If you're a milquetoast conservative you can expect constant arguments and some sneering, if you're a libertarian you can expect people to give you frequent questions the always devolve into "Either regulate something or support pedophilia", if you're further to the right than those two things, expect angry screeching and attempts to actively ruin your life/get you fired.

You seem to be a right-libertarian of a sort, the worst you'll get is maybe a lefty calling you a cunt, while being a monarchist over a fascist might give me some reprieve (in that I'd be seen more as "eccentric" then dangerous) a cursory look at the things I promote and leftists can't help but try to ruin my life.

So the more right wing you are, the more you have to be careful with your identity, because the more the left will try everything short of killing you... and if you're a vocal right winger they may even try that.

Yeah. I can't imagine if I lived outside of where I do (Oklahoma) the kinds of crap I would get. I do constantly already, but we also have open carry, so I never fear violence

Do leftists really get that upset when you say that you are a monarchist? I would imagine that position is so uncommon to them that they wouldn't know how to respond.

Quit and go to an engineering school. If your college works like that, there's a pretty good chance the degree you're getting is worthless anyway.

I think he’s lying. His examples are too ridiculous to be real.

I wouldn't doubt his examples, from what I've seen in US universities. Antifa throwing bricks through windows to keep Jordan Peterson from saying the words "individual responsibility," etc.

But it's possible that he is lying. Who knows. 2018 is a "post-fact" world.

In what universe are the interests of the establishment contrary to right wing interests? The establishment is controlled exclusively by rich business people, that’s how it gets its endless stream of campaign donations. Sure, some of those businesses support socially liberal candidates, others socially conservative ones, but either way they all want right wing economic policies because that’s the only kind that’s in THEIR BEST INTERESTS.

Haha hate speech isn’t free speech that’s fucking hilarious lol

2
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

It's dangerous is what it is.

We were given three "points".

Point 1: The First Amendment applies to freedom of religion, the press, and the right to express ideas.

Point 2: Free speech is a concept related to the free expression of ideas.

Point 3: Hate speech is offensive speech derogatorily attacking certain groups.

The professor tied all that together to say that the first amendment doesn't cover hate speech and hate speech is a concept distinct from free speech.

Beej67(less government would be nice)•

Once you allow speech to be shut down for being "hate speech," then anyone can move that bar wherever they like.

You have activists throwing rocks through windows at Jordan Peterson events because they think the words "individual responsibility" are hate speech.

2
Thinking_KingClassical Liberal•

Wtf that is not an argument. Speech is speech, whether it is hate or love speech. The definition of hate speech is very dubious and even if it were, the whole point of free speech is so that people can express ideas you (and pretty much everyone) thinks are disgusting.

Once you have anything remotely close to "hate speech" you no longer have free speech, you have allowed speech.

I read about half of this. You seem to be trying really hard to be a victim. Also, just come out and say that you believe organized protests are a deep state conspiracy.

1†
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

I don't know why you're reducing everything to a conspiracy theory, or where they're coming from.

I'm saying that the only "big" protests, the only ones we hear about and that are perceived as changing anything or "doing" anything are woven in tight with establishment politics, professional activists, whereas anything the establishment may dislike is hushed up or broken up.

0
PerfectSocietyPost-Left Anarchist•

And where is your evidence of these “professional activists” and their spearheading of these protests? You’ve asserted this multiple times but have never offered a shred of evidence to support your paranoid rhetoric.

1
Panzermacht•

I agree with everything except that change can only come through violent means.

Sure, it's easier and faster to create change through violence. But I'm guessing you want more than just change. Specifically you probably want things to get better, and violent protest makes things continually worse.

Lastly, there ways of changing the world outside of protests. Protests don't change people's opinion. Talking to people, friends and family, is what changes people's opinion on things. I'm assuming you live in a democracy which means that all you need to do to affect change is to make convincing arguments until a large enough portion of people agree with you such that politicians will notice and comply with your demands.

It seems clear that "grassroots" activism--at least "grassroots" activism that you've ever heard anything positive about--is a complete myth, going back as far in history as you care to look. It's astroturf as far as the eye can see. By the time the people are marching through the streets in moral triumph, all the moves have already been made, and the game is already over. As Sunzi says, "the general who wins the battle makes his calculations in his temple before the battle is fought."

The right has been ceding cultural ground to the left for a long time, and there are very good reasons why. One is that the left has patrons, and the right doesn't. If you go out and protest without patrons, you get a Charlottesville, where, instead of controlling the mob of violent nincompoops, the police actually push you into it. If you protest with patrons, there is institutional pressure behind the scenes ensuring that doesn't happen, and that instead your enemies are made to look like the instigators of chaos. The right doesn't seem to understand this, and just talks about "optics" without showing any discipline or organizational acumen, thus failing to audition themselves as useful tools for patrons. The left has had half a century of auditioning as useful tools for patrons. So they win.

Politics is downstream of culture, but culture is downstream of power. The right needs to abandon this folksy idea of power emanating from the bottom-up, as the shrewder leadership elements in the left already have.

The thing is, the right just naturally is better at organization, so it's not like it has to court 51% of the patrons the left has (which is basically everyone but Mercer). If it merely got something like counter.fund off the ground, ensuring that rightists can self-fund anonymously, that might even be enough to tip the scales.

kettesiReally hard to categorize but generally anti-authority•

Protests then, as the great Jacobite Magazine has explained before, are nothing less than victory parades for establishment politics.

Ever wonder why protests in Japan always seem to be Anti-China protests, and (less surprisingly) all the protests in China happen to be anti-Japanese?

hmmmmm

And this is why right wingers are fucking shit. We’ve had this problem for AGES, and the ONE time there’s any real push to fix it, it’s supposedly evidence that the media is left when they’ve kept the pro gun status quo until now. This is a classic case of right wing victimisation. Every time the left does anything it’s the end of the world and they’re somehow the victim even when it comes to things such as protecting LGBT people because they’ll no longer be able to discriminate against them.

0

Had what problem for ages, exactly?

He's imagining a world where the media was supposedly right wing.

Fact is if the media was you'd sure as fuck not see the gay rights or a sundry other civil rights movements get off the ground.
