Boys can be just as (if not even more) emotional then girls.

I know its kinda obvious but i feel like its overlooked too often. noone thinks a guy can be depressed or cut his arm, but he can, and i felt like it needed to be said.

I never really learned this about guys, my parents divorced when I was little. But seeing emotion in my husband is the single coolest thing ever to me. Like when he fell in love with a kitten at the shelter. She’s laying on my foot rn <3

Yeah, when men express their emotions, they are told to "man up". It's sad.

Not just that, I think there's a biological difference in how men and women deal with emotional problems. Men tend to bottle up and weep alone; women tend to bawl and seek companionship. Doesn't apply to everyone but it's the general trend.

Point still stands: men can be sad too. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean we ain't busting our balls.

"Biologically, there may be a reason women cry more than men: Testosterone may inhibit crying, while the hormone prolactin (seen in higher levels in women) may promote it. But a desire to cry is not all nature. ... Crying may also reflect attachment styles, research suggests."

From the american psychological association. Men are generally less likely to cry due to hormonal differences.

Agree. Also some women are more logical than emotional and that is also overlooked. When my husband shares problems he just wants someone to listen and I try to solve them logically with no emotion and he hates that.

I totally get this, I know girls who will totally put me in my place emotionally, they are like rocks. I also know plenty of men like this but this Is totally overlooked!

100% agree. As a female I have noticed it a lot

Actually, this isn't true. According to the research site women are more emotional than men.

You're correct even if you get down-voted.

Yes, but the point is that men can get emotional too, and we shouldn't be taught that all men and boys should bottle up.

After all, men still dominate in the suicide stats.

shouldn't be taught that all men and boys should bottle up.

We aren't taught that. If a man chooses to bottle up their emotions it's because they chose to.

its kinda a social thing tho. i have never once heard a story of a male kid who had depression or committed suicide unless there was something seriously messed up (psychosis etc)

Almost all the 'emos' I knew/saw were boys (they were very visible) does it count or was just a trend

3
AriadnesCrown•

Absolutely. The men in my life have been very emotional. I've never even questioned this because I just took it for granted.

As the Mom of three (teenage) boys - I totally agree.

The biggest thing people need to NOT DO is tell men that shit as normal as crying or thinking an animal is cute is GAY. Im gay and growing up in the closet sucked. You are monitoring your behavior/speech/movements 24/7 so that people dont think youre gay. It suppresses a horrifying amount of emotion and has turned me into a very irritable adult. My blood boils over the tiniest shit now and im 100% sure its because of how i grew up. CRYING AND LOVING AND SHOWING EMOTION IN GENERAL IS NOT GAY. ITS HUMAN.

I cut... I have all of these problems. I only hear "suck it up"... I got over depression by myself. No one by my fucking side. This is agreeable and you can open up much more from this one opinion
