Worth grinding season 2 iron banana?

Came back to D2 with the "go fast" update after a 5 monthes break ( hey Fortnite ). I have not a single idea of what Iron banner has to offer this season and also have a lot of free time this week end.

Should I grind it? What stuff should I look for?

  • I play all 3 classes, all kind of weapons.
  • I'm just looking for meta stuff, I dont care about cosmetics/collection.

Is there a brave soul to help me figure this out ^^ thank you.

Look, people here are gonna tell you about what weapons you should get and there are some good ones. You should get the SMG and the 450 RPM auto. The SMG with a range masterwork can feel like cheating sometimes, especially if you're on PC and good at hip firing.

Here's the thing, though- find yourself an image of the full armor sets with ornaments. Ask yourself how you're gonna improve as a player without them. Can you really say you're "playing the game we have" if you don't reach for the top of the fashion mountain?

Acquire every armor piece, every ornament, and deck them out in Iron Wolf. Bullets will start bouncing off of you. Bungie will give you a last-minute invite to the community summit with carte blanche to re-write the sandbox, including a handwritten apology from every senior developer for not inviting you sooner. Your crucible opponents will offer their lives in exchange for trials carries, where your opponents will also offer their lives in exchange for additional trials carries.

Don the armor. Apply the ornaments. Become legend.

Just playing 6v6 again is worth it for me. I played that exclusively in d1 so I'm having fun in crucible for the first time in d2. Don't really care much about the grind , I've been trying to use random weapons that I normally don't mess with.

It's been good fun

even got some of the old clan back together! I don't understand why it's so much better with 6, but it is!

2
anarchyreigns_gb•

Yes! It's better because you can have your old 'crew' just like d1 crucible. And you can all bitch and talk over each other and complain just just the good old days.

Yup...an upvote for you.

You want hero’s burden(submachine gun) ormunds anvil(auto) wizened rebuke(fusion) and maybe crimils dagger (he’s selling that now.

100% agree with this comment. Crimils dagger is really good if you can hit headshots.

Hmm. I deleted my Crimil's Dagger that I got from a package because I thought all 110 HC's were bad. Oops.

LOVE the rebuke. I zapped a guy from a quarter map length away with it.

Time worn spire is pretty good too.

The dagger is OP af. Been using it since the update when not running around in all blues

I don't have the smg. Will it drop from rewards packages?

Yup. I turned in a bunch last night. I got 3 in a row.

Awesome, thanks!

For me it’s not even the grind but just the fact that it’s actually fun again. Worth playing at least for a bit.

yes...something wrong with the fact i could care less about grinding ib...at all. i'm just playing it for fun.

at some point, bungie dun goofed beyond belief with their easy, no grind philosophy, that we're here.

none of the ib weapon are really any good, well, tws and heros are intriguing although not even really better than a handful of competitors. anyways i've had both for months.

grinding used to be half the fun of ib!

I'm at work and can't look up the weapon names but stat wise the IB grenade launcher is objectively better than most any other launcher I have seen. I replaced my beloved Play of the Game with it almost immediately.

Orewing's Maul hasn't been mentioned, but it is secretly really good and a lot of fun to use.

Same for The Forward Path. It's a laser 600 rpm auto (Tap the Trigger perk). Get it Masterworked for mag size and run Extended Mag, and you can get double and triple kills like crazy.

You get 2 tokens for a loss. 5 for a win.
15 tokens for the daily reward (3 in game tasks listed on the side of the screen when the match starts or when you pull out you ghost) These are per character so can be done in each character each day.
20 tokens rank you up with Salidin and gives you an engram which will have armor or a weapon.
Salidin also has 3 weapons for sale this week - 60 tokens each (I think)

Do you know if they adjusted the drops so you don't get as many duplicates for your IB reward packages? I've been away for a while.

1
artmgs•

I don't think there is duplicate protection or a knock out loot system ( eg crimson days) for IB :(

I think Hero's Burden 900 rpm energy pulse is the standout for PvP. Orimunds Anvil (450 RPM kinetic AR), Wizened Rebuke (high impact fusion with Plan C'ish perk), Crimils Dagger (highest range high impact HC in game, can kill in 3C) and Time-Worn Spire (540rpm kinetic pulse) are definitely strong too. Frostmire's Hex (full-auto energy scout) and the slug shotgun (highest OHK range slug in the game) can also be decent. Depends on your gamestyle and weapon preference.

2
xpandaofdeathx•

You want the SMG its awesome and has HCR. (Heros Burden).

I have heard the scout Frostmires Hex is good its stats are misleading.

Note since the pulses got a buff the 540 rpm Time Worm Spire with zen moment is like the old D1 pulse (blanking on name, it was good).

Hand cannons got a buff Crimils Dagger could be a good High Impact HC.

Winzied Rebuke fusion is a plan c.

Pvp is fun again there is no meta so you playwith what fits your playstyle now? which is nice!

Clever Dragon. So good!

3
shark978•

tws isn't even close to as meta as clever dragon at it's height...it's considered a solid gun that's about it

1
ElusivePineapple•

I was sharing the name of the D1 pulse OP was blanking on. I certainly wasn't comparing their placements in the meta.

2
Dinorobot•

I really liked the feel of Frostmire's Hex scout rifle along with the others mentioned here.

1
SnavlerAce•

Yes indeed, I'm using Bad News with kinetic reload stacked twice and having a great time! 6v6 has reinvigorated the banana!

snecseruza•

Even setting aside some great weapons, 6v6 is awesome. Here are the best IB weapons though:

Hero's Burden: top tier energy SMG, super stable with great hipfire and HC rounds

Time Worn Spire: great rapid fire kinetic pulse with zen moment

Crimil's Dagger: possibly the best high impact hand cannon, has opening shot and feels great (my bae)

Orimund's Anvil: solid 450 kinetic auto with longest range in precision frame

Gunnora's Axe: slug shotgun with opening shot, longest range slug shotty in the game

Wizened Rebuke: good fusion rifle that is made great because of the perk Back-up Plan, greatly reduced charge time when swapping to it

The rest of the IB weapons are mostly either decent or fun to mess around with, but those listed above are the ones that stick out and IMO are 100% worth grinding. Make sure to complete the daily IB challenges on all three characters for a nice bonus of tokens.
