Would anyone like to see a prequel prequel with Jedi Master Dooku and his padewan Qui-Gon Jinn?

General Discussion

A one off movie about their adventures as Jedi, similar to Anakin and Obi-wan in the Clone Wars shows.

I always thought a sort-of "Episode Zero" would make a good movie. Set up who the Sith were, why do they pick this moment in history to rise again, that sort of thing...

Yeah, I think new trilogies should have a leader movie to set the stage without starting the actual story of the trilogy. TPM kinda did this, but it only left 2 movies for 3 (or more) movies worth of story.

In a way, ANH did this too.

True, ANH just used the same character (Luke) throughout the trilogy as the main character, so it felt more connected. Switching from Qui-gon to Obi-wan to Anakin muddled things a bit.

The OT is also simpler, with the bad guys ruling the galaxy being really bad, and the good guys being totally lawful good. Meanwhile the PT has galactic regulation on the armies of factions like the trade federation being a larger motivator for events in the PT. I'm not sure how you make an interesting movie that explains that well though.

Hell yes!

I would take a trilogy

  1. Yoda & Dooku

  2. Dooku and Qui-Gon

  3. Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan

Simply perfect. The third one could also have a live-action Satine.

I would enjoy that.

UGHHHHH anything more I can get of Qui-Gon Jinn the better honestly. He was such a great character and only in it for one movie.

Not OP but.. Mostly Liam Neeson. Also, IMO Qui-Gon seems like the closest to a “pure Jedi” as we get in the movies.

We might get to read a bit about their relationship in the new Master and Apprentice book coming out. Its going to focus on Obi Wan and Qui Gon, but Dooku could've been a Jedi at that time. It'd be cool to see them interact.

I’m pretty sure Dooku turns after Qui-Gon dies, so we may very well see Dooku! I could be wrong though. He definitely wasn’t a sigh until after TPM

Only if it involves Sifo-Dias.

He died at the hands of the Pykes, didn’t he?

Pykes? Does that mean he got properly fucked?

It would give r/prequelmemes more material

Maybe not a movie, but I'd read a novel or a comic, certainly. Or even a few episodes of a pre-CW cartoon. I think the longstanding relationship would be better portrayed in one of those forms of media than in a full-length movie.

I don't think a movie would preclude a show. I think Disney needs to strop trying to crank out trilogies, instead focusing on telling the story the best way possible. This could be a movie, followed by a few years of a TV show, followed by another movie, or 2 movies, or 4 movies, etc. I don't think there is any benefit to them sticking to a strict 3 movie structure.

Yeah, I totally agree. I just think the episodic structure of a show would work better to demonstrate a long-term relationship between two characters than a movie would. I'm thinking along the lines of Anakin and Obi-Wan here. We see them in all 3 of the prequel movies, and see their relationship progress through them all. But it's really much more involved and nuanced in The Clone Wars TV show. So much so that watching Revenge of the Sith before watching the Clone Wars and again after, is a significantly different experience. When I first saw Revenge, Obi-Wan's whole speech at the end of the Duel felt kind of...flat. Like it was clearly this huge emotional moment for the characters, and even though Ewan McGregor did an excellent job in the scene, I just didn't feel it. But watching again after having seen the Clone Wars, the line "You were my Brother, Anakin!" hit home in a way it hadn't before.

That's the kind of relationship I'd like to see develop between Qui-Gon and Dooku.

I'll take any star wars movie, not really worried about the time period.

I like Star Wars too

No. I want a post ROTJ movie that's before TFA.

I, too, would like a movie in this era. Any particular subject to focus on?

A wartime Luke could be interesting, and give people the ass kicking skywalker fix they didn't get from the OT. Peaceful Jedi temple Luke, Politician Leia, or legit non-smuggler Han Solo could also be interesting.

MrTwo-Face•

I think all that sounds cool, but casting would all be really hard. Also I just wanted to say I don't think a Qui Gon movie is a bad idea, I'd just rather see his time with Dooku as an animated series.

2
jmknsdOP•

Someone else said something similar, and I don't disagree. I think we could also get a good movie or two out of it as well though.

Similarly, the era between ep6 and 7 could do great as an animated series, especially if we can get Mark to voice Luke, but one or more movies in the era could also be awesome.

CosmosBear•

Hell no.

I’m not sure. I find those two characters interesting. But i personally don’t think the two characters could really hold a movie or book on their own personality wise... I’d require some interesting side characters.

This is probably my most wanted Anthology film. I've never felt either of these characters were developed as much as they could potentially have (at least within the movies/Clone Wars, not sure about other EU material) and I'd love to see someone take a stab at it.
