So what do you all want this place to be?

I started this after reading a thread that suggested a childfree only community with a zero tolerance policy for parental bs be established.

So let's do this as a community. What are our rules? What do we want to put in the sidebar? Who wants to join the mod team? Let us know your thoughts.

No parents No people justifying children No ‘explain why you’re childfree’ No ‘on the fence’

Honestly, I'd love to see something along the lines of the 'no uplifting posts' idea that was proposed here. I think it would help limit a bunch of the parental stuff preemptively, and provide support for kicking people who try to pull that anyways.

As for other rules, it might be a good idea to make our stance on pet posts clear. And I don't mean ones like this - I mean 'my child woke me up at 4am, but then I remembered it was just my cat because I'm never going to have kids and so I rolled back over and went to sleep isn't my life amazing' that inevitably lead to posts about 'am I the only childfree person who doesn't want a pet for the same reason I don't want kids??'. Not sure if I'm advocating for or against these, but I figure it might be something worth sorting out in advance.

And then I'm not sure how practical it is, but I'd suggest implementing some sort of 'quality control' for rants that get posted here? I love a good rant as much as the next person, but the key word there is good. If someone's not going to put any effort in, then it's just the same 'wow I can't believe a child did this' post we've all seen a bazillion times.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in a mod, but I'd be interested in helping out! Lemme know what you need, and I can tell you a bit about myself to see if it's a good fit?

To be honest I don't have much use for 'consensus politics' in a group. Don't want politics involved at all. No block happy mods who turn into weinies with control issues. No breederpleasing, no yabutters, no lunchtablequeens (you know the ones who wouldn't let you sit at their table in middle school, and they come in both, or should I say all, genders. No breeders, no incels, no netnannies brigading unpopular opinions. I'd love to see more 'academic' links in issues that are relevant, and I'd say that overpopulation and women's rights are relevant. I love the how to fight a bingo posts, myself.

Info about sterilization and how women are used like lab rats and treated like children when we seek to control our own fertility. Oh, i have a story about my fight to get sterilized . . . and nearly got killed by a ham handed surgeon who was as sexist as any male and used a method MEDICALLY CONTRAINDICATED and then wouldn't let me see the surgical report or give me pain meds! ("Patient uses medical terminology correctly" yeah, ya fucknob, just because I'm not an MDIETY doesn't mean I have no knowledge, in fact I did my own medical research and told my primary care guy stuff he didn't know! And he's respectful, unlike that scalpel jockey who tossed me out of the recovery room still bleeding)

oh, and as a Boomer, don't bash my generation. Hey, when I was young, I thought my generation should NOT breed. MY parents were not typical of their generation, and neither am I. You kids think YOU get bingoed? Sheesh. The only people who didn't look down on me for not wanting to marry/breed were my family!

I think there are a lot of us aging CFers who never had any kind of support, and I am so glad this is SLOWLY changing. Kinda like being a witch in the Burning Times (yeah, I know most of those burned at the stake were the wrong brand of xian, not witches, but still) you hide in the broom closet.

I adore a well written rant. i love the horror stories!
