Rhetoric and Retrospect
As the charcoal mountains of the sky turned
Alongside a river of stone that had yearned
To travel in the company of those
Who soared too far before they decompose
As life rose above to grasp, hold, and kiss
The few who sit silently on outcrops
Pondering answers forged in the abyss
And relocate questions ravaged by elops
I was caught between what is and who is
As I soared and pondered, glaring at life
For they are the ones who drift when it says
And I’m who decomposes without strife
They are impeded, never succeeded
I will have said all I had needed
