Muse Tour FAQ: What to Expect about Shows, Setlists & More
Hello, and welcome to r/Muse! As a new tour begins, it's natural that a lot of questions will arise about what to expect of the upcoming concerts, so we'll try to answer them all here! Consider this a FAQ of sorts about seeing Muse live. If you have any other question that isn't already listed here, feel free to ask in the comments!
Separate discussions about gigs and buying tickets will be removed while this thread is stickied to reduce clutter.
1. Is the band touring right now? When are they coming to [my country/city]?
Yes, Muse have announced the 2019 Simulation Theory World Tour. You can see a full list of upcoming gigs, including other promotional and special gigs, here. Not every city's date has been announced yet, so if you don't see your city listed on the tour page, check here to see if a gig is currently planned for that location. For example, Matt has indicated plans for more US cities, Mexico and South America, and Japan at the moment. Other than that, if you don't see a specific place listed there, don't worry, the band plans to announce new locations, but for now, this is all we've got.
2. I don't know a lot about the band, is their concert worth attending?
Sure! Check a few of Muse's most recent singles to get a taste of what they are all about. Their live concerts are still considered very good and should entertain even casual listeners.
3. I'm going to see them live at [location]! How early should I arrive to get a good spot?
There is not a single answer to this. The rule of thumb is to arrive at least a few hours before the venue is opened. The times are usually listed on your ticket, and if not, check your local events promoter website. Be aware that there are two premium packages available (discussed more below) and they will receive priority entrance into the venue. If you're really worried about getting good spots without the package, mid-afternoon should be safe enough.
4. What songs should I expect? Are they going to play [specific song]? How long are their concerts?
We have no idea! A new album will bring completely different setlists, so all we can do is wait. As gigs start happening, check this sub for our specific gig threads for more info. During the Drones tour, arena shows were about 90 minutes long, with 18 to 19 tracks performed (including jams and prerecorded tracks). During the last stadium tour in 2013, shows were over 2 hours long with 24-28 tracks performed (again including jams and prerecorded tracks). We can probably expect things to be similar, but don't be surprised if the band decides to change things up as they're prone to do.
We also don't know anything about the setlist for the London Royal Albert Hall show this December. We can hope that there were be some special songs, but, for now, nobody knows except the band.
5. What is the stage going to be like? Is it going to be in the round?
Mostly, we don't know. We do know that the band is going to return to a typical front facing setup, not in the round, but other than that it's a mystery.
6. Will there be a support act? Who is it?
There will almost definitely be at least one support for regular arena and stadium/park shows, but they haven't been announced yet.
7. Do I get a copy of the album with my tickets? How do I get it?
Yes, each ticket entitles you to a CD or digital download of the album, which can be gifted to a friend as well. Information on this should be emailed to you around December 3rd.
8. How can I buy tickets?
Prices range from 60 to 110 EUR and will vary slightly depending on venue and location. Expect to pay 80 EUR (US$90-100) for a standing ticket. You can check the ticket site for your specific gig from the muse.mu page for more detailed prices.
9. I missed out on tickets! Can I buy them from a resale?
Ticket resale will be strictly limited to Twickets, a fan-to-fan ticket resale platform.
Buying from these sites is not recommended (thanks MuseFrance): Viagogo, Stubhub, Onlineticketshop, Tixwaves, Paris Event Ticket, Live Booker, Next Concert, Finestickets, Rocket Ticket.
10. What are the Experience packages, and what's the difference between the Premium Ticket Bundle and the Simulation Theory Enhanced Experience?
