obviously some not good things in there but that last image with just "the tables always turn" makes me wonder if vindictiveness isn't the primary motivation for this, and trying to further damage his already shaky public image more than anything
wonder if there's legal record of him refusing to pay child support because a lot of this stuff is fairly anecdotal and doesn't come anywhere near domestic violence imo
She probably is happy to be heard, not being vindictive (or maybe just a smidge of both). It's not domestic violence, but still shitty and it's gonna be hard to cheer for him if he's on the cubs.
It’s definitely shitty. But trying to get your child support lowered isn’t illegal, especially if his counsel is telling him to do so.
Right. Idk what’s going on in his personal life. All I can say is I’m sick of reading these stories about him and he sounds like a POS regarding his personal relationships. As a fan I’d rather they just drop him. It’s too much
I’d rather not lose him for nothing, but yea this is getting a bit tedious.

there absolutely is a record of payments. I'd be shocked if he has not paid a significant amount of money in child support. If he is a real dead beat then I'll change my mind. But she did not say he was tens of thousands of dollars in debt or anything.
I would really like to know their legal agreement before I pass judgment.
Well isn't this consistent with who he was back then? This isn't that surprising. The idea is that now he's learning that behavior like this is pathetic and unacceptable. It's courageous by Mallory to open up about it after keeping quiet, of course. And he deserves for it to come out as well.
But this isn't something he just did last week. I don't see how this would change opinions on Russell from yesterday to today. We all knew he acted like a bastard 4 years ago. My hope is that assuming this therapy he's going through is somewhat effective and eye opening for him that he will look back on this and be ashamed of himself, and maybe do right by his past wives and current children in the future.
I think people believe this is something that happened now, which is not true. It’s just more mudslinging for past shit that he’s already paying for
Bringing her side of a child support argument on the internet seems unimportant to me.
Frankly, I'm disappointed in Addison. How someone could treat the mother of his child AND his child like that is beyond words for me. I'm ashamed to be a fan of his.
You may know me under my other account at u/OwnagePwnage123, but I just want to say that I verymuch hate every part of this scenario, and I still maintain my opinion that this isn't the Cubs way, and he shouldn't be employed if he doesn't show intention to make a complete 180.
I don't know how to feel about this one. I would really like to know more details about it.
She says that they were abandoned 4.5 years ago, but on the very next one makes it seem like they were with his family 3 years ago.
She also doesn't say he didn't pay child support, but it sounded like he was fighting to not pay as much. Imo, the child support system is broken, I don't think someone making 500k a year should have to pay the same percentage as someone making 50k. There should be a Max amount somewhere in there.
I'd like to hear a statement from him on it. I also don't think the Cubs would just block her because he wanted them too without looking into it. There's more to this story than what is being told.

for real though, this is just getting worse and worse
Team of "advisors?"
Take care of your kids and ditch the fucking "advisors." It's probably cheaper, moron.
(although the "advisors" are probably related to him)
I’m sure it’s his lawyers telling him what to do. I would bet that his child support is high and his counsel is telling him ways to get it lowered.
They’re usually some combinination of: A.) Maternal uncle who is “looking out for family” B.) That one friend who took a semester of accounting at college before dropping out to be you manager C.) Minister/former coach/“mentor” (or all of the above) whose in charge of keeping them “grounded.” Amazingly each of them will need multiple family members on payroll to assist.
More consequences from past mistakes. They’ll keep coming.
If people can be fired just like that in real life, the same should be able to happen to athletes. F all this “but contracts” stuff. If someone isn’t making an organization (sports or not) look good, they should be dropped
Unions.
Clearly, this isn’t a one and done with Russell. Time for him to go, even from a baseball perspective all he did this year was that catch. Won’t miss him at all.
MANNY!!!
He was given a second chance and it looks like he blew it. He needs to be gone.
It's time to drop him. It's going to be a burden and a distraction on the locker room, and as everything comes out, he's someone who genuinely doesn't deserve to wear the Cubs uniform.
Aside from how shitty all of this is (the domestic abuse and now the allegations of being a neglectful and dead-beat father), his personal life continues to be a distraction for him and the team. I'm all for allowing someone to make amends and be a better person, but his personal life overshadows anything he does on the field. He's on baby mama #3 and I have a feeling his personal life will continue to be a major distraction for years to come.
I'm definitely out of the loop on this one - what's going on?
He was suspended for 40 games for Domestic Abuse against his ex-wife (https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/09/28/addison-russell-domestic-abuse-investigation-ex-wife-speaking-out-chicago-cubs)\
And now this. He seems to have a very loose grip on how human decency works.
Jesus... What a piece of work. Yeah this will definitely turn into a circus if they don't handle it and get him out of there.
