Hysterical

AntiIntellectual•

gg. fuck this internet poker shit I'm gonna go play 10/25 this weekend.

24
FurplesOP•

It’s just so nice to face a bet and think “well he’s probably never bluffing and only has these value hands” instead of having to worry about some big brain 2000 IQ reverse blocker triple range merge mixed frequency BS from good online regs

62
aw_dam_its_mic•

I chuckled.

AntiIntellectual•

update - won 10k this week at 5/T plo. you're an inspiration furples. an inspiration.

1
FurplesOP•

u owe me 10%

1
IDontHuffPaint•

It is known.

1
AntiIntellectual•

cashier check ok?

I gotta stop playing online lol. these live regs are just absolute trash but are obviously making more than me. extreme adhd + live is rough though.

also gotta remember that nobody has a basic understanding of polarization and calling down light is often inferior to just ripping over just to be safe.

1
shanghaidry•

5/T live is great in a lot of places until you hit a 20-buyin downswing and realize, shit, $20k is real money.

-1
JuqeBocks•

i lost $60 live and have never gone back cause i can't afford it.

7
M1ghtyObserver•

Shout out RI.

22
FurplesOP•

The games are really good, most of the players are friendly, and the 5/10 doesn't play like Bellagio 5/10 with regs tanking for 2 minutes on every street. I've been in providence for work for a while but this is my last week, definitely bummed to leave

16
M1ghtyObserver•

Yeah I usually play 1/2 but I enjoy the poker scene there, I wish they would expand the room, every time you go there on a Saturday the line for 1/2 is insane.

8
TheCatsActuallyLAGtard•

What city is this and what city do you usually play in?

2

Twin is in Lincoln , RI

1
shanghaidry•

Interesting, last time I played there the 5/T players were talking about how it's so much better than 2/5 because the 2/5 players tank too much in small pots. Gotta love the time charge, too, so I end up paying less time charge at 5/T than I do in rake at the 2/5.

1
hefty244•

First the Oscar's shoutout and now in r/poker? Lil Rhodey going big time!

3
kevm0•

What was the Oscars shoutout?

1
hefty244•

The Green Book writer /producer, Peter Farrelly, thanked the entire state of RI when he won an Oscar.

1
kevm0•

Oh cool

1
yanader2NL Hero•

fuckin hell, big chips to the front. doesn't matter whether you cover or not

21
FurplesOP•

I agree and you're right, I shouldn't have had my black stacks in the back. With that being said, this was not a situation where making this mistake ever had the potential to affect anyone

11
JLPcard•

Looks like $9950 there? Nice stack for 5/10!

19

Apparently it was 1/1

2-5 Mississippi straddle?

Please tell us the big hand or two that won you 10000 playing 2-5.

9
FurplesOP•

5/10, 1k cap, no crazy massive exciting pots, I just won a lot of ~100-200bb pots and didn't lose many. Most of the hands were just bet/bet/bet and either getting a bluff through or getting called by worse, which was insane rungood as far as card-distribution

edit with hand examples:

  • 3bet AJdd BU vs. SB, bet/bet/bet on Td2x2x 7d Kd and get a fold on the river
  • 3bet KK and bet/bet/bet on Q73K4 and get a fold on the river
  • Defend a small 3bet OOP vs. tight bad reg with 67hh, x/r his half-pot cbet on 568r, barrel large on Ao turn and he folds QQ face-up (exactly why you can't be betting my boards bruv)
  • bad reg opens MP to $50 with tight range, 3k effective with us. We call button QTdd, SB who doesn't 3bet bluff 3bets to $175, we both call. Flop KQJhhd, SB bets 250, MP calls, we call. Turn 5o, SB bets $500 into $1200, MP folds what he later says was AK, we call. River 7h, SB has $700 behind, SB checks, we check and beat TT
  • Tight UTG opens to $40, badreg SB calls, we call BB QTcc. Flop 863ccc, SB leads $60 into $120, we raise to $200, he quickly calls. Turn 863ccc 5o, SB leads $375 with ~$1100 behind, we jam and he tanks for like 3 minutes and folds, mumbling to himself about how he definitely had us beat
  • UTG limps, one more limp, we complete Q3hh in the SB (villains were very bad postflop but this is pretty marginal at best, maybe slightly -$EV, whatever), BB makes it $40 (tight-aggressive but tilted and no understanding of sizing/ranges, saw him 3bet the flop with AK on K98r and proudly table his hand after getting a fold). UTG calls, one fold, and we call. Flop AQ5r, we check, BB bets $50 into $120, UTG folds, we call (it's whatever with BDFD vs this villain). Turn Qo, we might lead here vs regs with some Qx and KT/JT, but I don't think this villain checks his aces often enough to lead. So we check, he bets $50 into $220, we c/r to $200, he calls quickly. River brick and we bet $500 into $620, he calls and flashes us an ace (part of the reason the preflop calls and flop calls aren't super bad is just because we think he's just going to station when we make trips or two pair). Still could be too splashy pre but can't be too bad regardless

Honestly none of the spots were super interesting or tough, which was refreshing having been playing mostly online recently vs 500NL wizards who push every range advantage and frequently overbet turns and rivers. When your opponents don't 3bet wide enough, and when they don't turn hands into bluffs or attack boards that are good for their range, decisions get a lot easier

Good stuff Furples, glad to see you join the live pro ranks!

(exactly why you can't be betting my boards bruv)

You gotta punish them! Hope the run good continues.

Thanks for including hands. Well done.

Love the breakdown!

Not relevant to OP, but I was shocked to learn the Mississippi straddle isn't allowed in most poker rooms in Mississippi, at least not in Biloxi.

3
ic3m4ch1n3•

They did at IP when I played there. The room at the Beau was pretty dry when I was there but only played for a couple of nights.

I don't remember what it was now but the rake there was way high too

1
Maud_Ford•

Is it just me, or are those stacks 17 chips high?

5
Stringdaddy27Felt Wizard•

I used to try and count them all the time, but angled pics are incredibly deceptive. It will always appear as if there are less chips. I just accept that it's 20 because I'll count a different number in each stack and somehow they'll all magically line up.

2
Maud_Ford•

I’ve counted them several times and I swear they’re stacks of 17/18

1
wrongstyle•

Count the middle green stack. They’re 20, it’s just an odd illusion when counting the other stacks.

2
FurplesOP•

If they are, then the cage majorly messed up when I cashed out lol

1
crypto_dds•

Nice!

2
IntotheopenDouble Range Merging since 1842•

2

Yeah

1
Marinellistj•

Rhode Island?

1
Rye4444•

assuming those are standard 20 stacks.. you should have 10k in front of you if the 50 dollars past the line is yours.. I attempted to count a stack of greens and it was 20 but i had a hard time with the blacks.. in any case was your buyin 10k or did it just even out this way perfectly at end of session?

1
catsmeow492•

Dude, remind me how this feels again. Cuz I’m in the middle of a pretty serious runbad.

3 times in the last week I’ve jammed against hands I dominated and they got me every time. That’s just the start of it.

1
SuperAntonyC•

Get those big chips to the front of the stack bud! Let em know your balls big!

1

I hope you posted this after you left otherwise I can imagine you lost chips after this photo #commentatorscurse

I cashed out $9860 or something so not quite peak but close enough

At this point I’m just trying to rack up negative karma so happy to keep an open dialogue

1
FurplesOP•

I mean it does seem like a strange hill to die on, but now you’re pretty pot committed

2
mr_tapwater•

Meh just don’t like odd explanations for breaking rules in poker

1
FurplesOP•

It seemed reasonable to everyone else, it was mostly just odd to you. That’s fine though, I respect being super principled re: the rules. The rules are the rules, and I get that.

The idea though that someone two seats to my left would have thought I had $3500, as you said, is absolute bonkers. There’s clearly no angle here. The only stack with more than 3k sat to my direct left, who could see my stack clearly.

2
mr_tapwater•

I’ll just come to Rhode Island and stack you. 😏😏😏
