Hard pull off the caddy.
I also load strong hand. That barrel gets fuckin hot. I wear a glove on my offhand for that.
Shoulder the gun the second you have rounds in the tube. You're doing a lot with your strong hand while supporting the gun in an awkward position with your off hand. You should be picking your target and positioning yourself for the stage. You're still visually iding all the buttons you gotta press.
Thanks. Going into my second season of 3 Gun, still have to look where I’m going. Will work on the grip.
I would disengage the safety as you are shouldering the gun instead of making it a separate step prior to gripping and shouldering. My concern with how you are currently disengaging the safety is that it seems like it would be very easy to slip off the safety and hit the trigger causing a ND and consequently a DQ. You also seem to pause/fumble with finding the safety, probably due to manipulating it at an awkward/unnatural angle. It doesn't appear to be saving any time as opposed to taking it off once you have a proper grip and are shouldering the gun and acquiring the target.
I actually leave the safety off during this drill because I’m starting with the gun empty. You’re probably getting that mixed up with the shell release which is located next to the safety.
At comps I go to that would be a match DQ. Guns must always be on safe when not actively being fired or carried.
Your wasting a bunch of time transitioning your grip.
Instead of flipping it completely upside down, have it mostly shouldered and gripped like your going to fire and turn your forehand counter clockwise at the wrist and bring your left elbow in to your stomach.
You'll be much quicker and not need such a large transition.
This exactly! you are moving the gun way too much but the loading looks smooth :) I use a youth 870 20ga and load 4 or 2 and my gun only moves to flip it load flip bang! Just a local club not sure on your restrictions but you might try letting more of the gun/stock stick out past your ear or get it farther from your body so re-shouldering doesn't take forever. Extend that left arm more that stock is dipping below your elbows after you load 4, I understand the barrel must be pointed out a bit to not sweep your feet but try to keep it all chest height and eyes on your next target not watching them in the loading gate, load 2 till you don't have to look. then start loading 4 without looking.
Seems like some time was lost in stripping those shells from the caddy maybe mod it so its smooth with out lost of retention
The snap caps I’m using are a tiny bit bigger than real 12ga, feels smoother with the real thing (that’s what she said)
Ah alright well thats always a good thing when the real stuff is smoother lol
Take out your firing pin and use real shells... Cannot misfire without a firing pin (well... Normally)
Not sure how to do that on my Versamax, would be a little nervous about loading hot shells indoors even with the pin removed
Which ones are you using? My Fiocchi ones are friggin awesome and are actually a bit smaller than my normal 12ga.
A-Zoom. Solid aluminum, despite them being a little big they’re totally indestructible.
Try the Fiocchi ones. They are real weight, Basically shotshells without primers.
If you like that loading position, try flipping the gun to the other side when placing it on the table, so that the handguard faces to your left
Grab the handguard with your left hand like how when you’re shooting, curl the wrist the bring it to your loading position, while your right hand helps it by grabbing “belly” part of the stock instead of the grip for the whole duration, but leaving to reach your caddy as soon as the stock is over your shoulder
What's your belt / setup?
Chinesium belt, pistol pouches, shell caddies and magnets for rifle mags, Bladetech holster. Hard to get everything on there with a 32” waist. Wish I got a nicer belt, the knockoff ones aren’t as stiff, but the whole setup probably cost 1/3 of an equivalent CR Speed setup and seems to work just as well.
CR and dont look back when you get the money friend :)
I run Safariland everything except the shell caddies (Taccom). Holding 3 pistol mags, holster, 1-2 rifle mags, 24 shotgun shells. 30" waist. It can be done with proper setup.
For sure. The Safariland ELS system looks awesome. Will upgrade when I have the dough.
Practice both grips. Every day. Start slow then go faster.
Practice practice practice
Try weak hand loading and get better carriers maybe? 🤔
carriers and loading look good its just ergonomics of motion slowing him down.
Buy a vr80 so you never have to quad load again
But then I need an open pistol and I don’t have 2011 money
no you dont, run open division with the shotty and whatever stock pistol you have
Honestly man, I really enjoy seeing your posts about the vr80, but fuck off with trying to sell it to everyone. Not everyone wants to run open class against people with more money then sense. Some people like being compared to others based on things like their ability to quad load.
Wow mr grumpy didnt have his juice box tonight. Why dont you try shooting open before you say all this. Open is about having the freedom to shoot whatever you want. Basically the purest form of being an american.
Maybe I will one day. But currently I have no interest in shooting open. I'll run tacops til my hands are arthritic and I can't quad load anymore.

Yes it is? Nothing is more satisfying than just standing there mowing down targets with no regard for quad loads

I think if you shot open you would realize it's open shooting whatever the hell you want. You cant get that freedom in other divisions
Get your left hand off that barrel. You're not going to enjoy that grip after a few dozen rounds of rapid fire. Ideally your left hand should stay exactly where it was when firing.
Also invest in a good port job when you can.
For chambering a round, make a hook with your right thumb and index finger. Hit the shell release latch with your thumb, and your index finger should already be right by the charging handle for a quicker load.
Thanks for the tips, will work on the shell release/charging motion, that’s probably where I could improve the most
