FYI Jenelle has a live video that includes Ensley talking...for all those who keep claiming she doesn't talk.

TEEN MOM 2

You can hear her hear and there in the background, though Kaiser is really excited about the chickens and talking over her a lot. Then you hear her at the end. It's pretty age appropriate speech ability.

Hopefully someone can post the applicable clips. I don't have the right equipment.

Good! I don't like people assuming something is wrong w her. When I was a baby and kid you couldn't do shit to get me to smile or speak on camera. I was always somber or pissed. No developmental issues.

I feel better about it, too. I had an older brother and younger sister so I never spoke. My aunt told my mom there was something wrong with me. My mom was devastated and took me out for dinner, a movie, and shopping and I wouldn’t shut up. She decided the other two just never left any time for me to talk.

I’m sure it’s the same on the land. Maryssa, Kaiser, Jace occasionally. They probably all talk for her.

I was the oldest so I was a talker. But put a camera on me..not a peep. I still freeze up for pics. I don't like it! That's why I reddit...No pics.

I once read a really in-depth article in Time magazine about how birth order effects personality. First borns are definitely more likely to be chatty and willing to speak up. So interesting.

My_Boyfriend_Says•

I’m interested in that article. I’m a first-born & very talky. I can’t shut the fuck up & it gets worse when I know I can’t talk. I annoy myself with it so much but it still happens. When we were little kids, our parents would have a contest to see how long we could go without talking during road trips. Eight miles I got & it was a real fucking touch eight miles.

E: I tried googling time magazine bitch birth order but it came up with contradictory results from Time! Which one do I read? I’m interested. Maybe it’ll tell me how to stfu.

I will speak up, but not on camera!.lol it may be something I inherited from my popa and mama though.

1
_Ninnie•

I’ve definitely overcome it. Unless I have to speak in front of more than 3 people. Then I panic. My previous employer made me take a public speaking course and I thought I was going to die.

That sounds awful.

My little brother wouldn’t talk, he would just point. One day he just started speaking. Turns out he could speak but I was such a devoted big sister that I grabbed anything he wanted for him so he never had a need to speak. We’re about the same age difference as kaiser and ensley so I could totally see that happening

36
21ladybug•

That same thing happened to me. I learned to just grunt because my sister knew what I wanted. I figured it out

bootymoejrBrittany Stan•

I still translate for my younger (adult) brother sometimes because we are both mumblers/fast talkers, especially when we’re talking to one another. It happens.

4
spicyfoodforlife90•

All the words she said sound pretty clear. I doubt she is delayed. She seems fine.

27
PlaycrackerstheskyDebra, don't do that. •

Ensley is fine and the speculation about there being something wrong with her is gross and tiring.

23
bootymoejrBrittany Stan•

That shit will follow them into grade school and needs to stop

6
Sasshole-Mom•

My child didn’t talk much at ensleys age. We had a speech therapy set up per our pediatricians recommendation and it seemed like overnight she caught up. She doesn’t stop talking now lol

18
ronniesaurus•

Mine has been in speech for a while and still is barely talking. Just no interest. Talking is one of those things that really just happens when a kid is ready. Being physically behind is one thing, but when they aren't talking as long as they show cognitive ability is okay it's not so much a problem. I feel like a lot of people forget this.

7
ktrekker•

Usually the more kids in the house, the later the speaking begins. It’s very normal for her age.

18
sushiwalrus•

People will make excuses or conveniently forget this happened so they can keep pretending Ensley is disabled to satisfy their Jenelle boners.

Someone posted it on twitter, if anyone is curious. https://twitter.com/JenellesVag/status/1106349271702487040?s=20

Okay, so I watched the video. I'm about to say some shit y'all don't want to hear:

The set up for the chickens seems completely adequate and well thought out.

The kids look very happy.

Jenelle seems very engaged with both children.

When the kids did something somewhat out of line, Jenelle demonstrated a lot of patience and softness.

These kids really seem to be getting a very cool outdoorsy childhood experience.

Alright, bring on the downvotes.

Hoophoop31•

No downvote from me. I’m truly happy that ensley is doing well and it’s good to hear that Jenelle is being a good mother to her kids.

Yeah I agree. Honestly my opinion is David is one of those stupid backwards assholes that thinks he lives in the south in the 50s or 60s where the woman's place was in the house and she minded her husband. I bet that's how his dad acted with him. He has a lot of anger in him. I think the bruises Kaiser has is from what David and Jenelle call spanking. But the thing is spanking should never ever leave marks like that. He probably got those kind of spankings when he was growing up. He's a total uneducated hillbilly. He and Jenelle both need some hardcore therapy because they have way to much anger in them. And those kids deserve better more stable and adjusted people taking care of them!

ColeatemycerealGod Bless America 🇺🇸•

Whoa whoa whoa- Jenelle is the spawn of Satan and her children are tortured all day.

J/k

I agree- I love that their kids have so much time outdoors and when David was setting up that tree swing/standing swing/pendulum thing last year for them I was insanely jealous.

8

Imagine having that to play with all summer. Super jealous!

7
LittlehouseonTHELAND"No more guns...we'll use fire!"•

Yes! And I'm not gonna lie: I'm also very jealous of their pool. 😍

2
spookyookydoopregnant and every daggone thing•

Agree. What they have going on right now for the amount of chickens is fine, they can easily add more fencing when/if needed.

I liked hearing her just laugh when Kaiser was being silly thinking the rooster would get him lol. There was a time she would have been pissed about it, she just seemed mellow in the video and the kids seem happy

8
LeveMeAloone•

I always got the impression that people actually wanted ensley to be delayed, just to prove how bad Janelle and David are. And it really bothered me. We all know those two are idiots, no need to start saying cruel things about the kids just to reinforce that knowledge.

7
cancancan1345•

Genuine question cause I know nothing about chickens but will it still be adequate when they add 20 something more chicks when they grow up? Seems like it might be tight?

1
scarlet-begonia•

This is 100% a guess, but I assume they'll let the chickens roam around The Land during the day and then lock them up at night. Once chickens learn where "home" is, they will instinctively come back to roost at dusk. You just have to make sure to close them in so that a predator can't follow them into the coop.

Anyway, chickens are pretty happy to cuddle up inside the coop at night - it makes them feel safe. But I hope they have more daytime space than that little fenced-in enclosure.

1
FukkenDesmadrosaALVCommonDemonToot😈💨•

My MiL usually keeps her chicks fenced in because they're very delicate and die ridiculously easy.

Then she lets them out when they're big enough to fend for themselves. They still huddle together at night tho.

1
lsiriusSlug-Kyler•

Kaiser being scared of those chickens is such a mood. I don't like birds either Kai.

1
chuapik•

I'm actually surprised, that is the first time I've heard her talk. She does seem to be talking ok in that video.

13
ladyandthebamf•

I noticed that most kids this age will talk up a storm around their parents but will come off somewhat reserved around everyone else outside their immediate family. Children more than capable of speaking in full sentences will regress to using hand gestures and single words to communicate because of (completely normal) social anxiety. I have four kids. 4/4 have been like this. I also take care of many other kids belonging to other people. Again, 100% of them have been like this. This phenomenon peaks around ages 2-3, but I still see the same thing to a certain extent happening in even kids up to 12 years old.

My youngest is by far the most outgoing child I have ever encountered. She is three. She says hi to almost EVERYONE in the grocery store. And yet, she still goes from full sentences to 2-3 word phrases or nonstop giggling when on camera/ in front of people she doesn't know very well. Her verbal skills are actually above average for her age, but if you guys interacted with her as strangers, you'd never know she can hold an entire conversation using complex sentences.

Phoxee•

My son will talk his head off and say the same sentence almost 200 times in a row before he finally falls asleep sometimes he does not stop talking on the flipside my older son didn’t talk until five because he’s autistic. Now neither will shut up just kidding LOL kids grow at different paces can we get off this train of ignorance? My youngest son is above average in every way and every mile stone my older son wouldn’t walk wouldn’t talk wouldn’t eat or talk it was a struggle the first six years, but now they’re both doing great and I wanted to actually cut people with rusty spoons anytime they talk about another kids development. It’s none of your goddamn business. Especially if you’re saying it in a negative light or trying to imply that she has some sort of disorder or delayed because Jenelle such a “shit” OK we know she’s a shit mom but do we really have to bring her kids into it all the time and discuss their development?? They’re going to grow up someday... they are probably going to google them selves and you know what they’re going to see? A bunch of assholes. They didn’t sign up for TV so let them be!!

Jenelle has had a couple of vids in the last month or two that have Ensley talking. I was honestly surprised the first time I heard her speak in more than baby babble because it had been so ingrained in our fandom that Ensley was super delayed in that department. If anything, she may be slightly ahead though I haven't studied the videos in depth to get a sense of her vocabulary and such.

10
lolwtfnodude•

Speech usually develops pretty rapidly. Takes a while for them to learn their first words and to structure very basic sentences, but then it completely takes off and you can't shut them up!

9
Phoxee•

I wonder how long some of these people were waiting until she got to that age where you’re supposed to hit the milestone for talking and immediately gossiping about a baby!!! I hate people like this and anyone who does this can put me on ignore block me do whatever you can I don’t want to talk to you and I don’t want people like this in my life that would even discuss another child and whether or not they have a disability or are slower than another or something like that I don’t tolerate it and I won’t tolerate it it’s tacky it’s disgusting it’s obviously not something a real mother would say or think. Real mothers know that every child grows at their own pace and that these “milestones“ are just meant to be some type of development tracking it’s not set in stone. I say this as a mother of two kids one who is on the spectrum and one is way ahead on everything every kid is different... how ignorant. 🤯🤦‍♀️

13
SugarSandDollar•

My older brother barely spoke until he was 4 because our older sister just spoke for him. Same thing happened with my niece and nephew. It's pretty normal.

11
uknowhowchoicezbe•

Same with my son. He was only child and only grandbaby and had such a sweet disposition, he would just look at something and everyone would jump up to get it for him. He also has high functioning Autism so that was a part of it too. But once he spoke it just took off. He has a great vocabulary and is an awesome speller too!

.. what’s age appropriate speech ability?

3†
InitialIntroOPBy the way my name ain't Sis.•

Here's a pretty simple chart of age appropriate speech development.

12
JessaBlessa•

Speaking appropriately for one’s developmental age.

5
crustyma•

Yeah. I’m asking what is she doing that OP thinks is age appropriate speech.

5
JessaBlessa•

I assume OP means Ensley was talking how a typical 2yo does. But I also haven’t seen the video.

4
Hoophoop31•

Watch the video. That doesn’t sound age appropriate to me. I was expecting a lot more. She does look engaged with her mom though and she seems like a normal little kid which is really good. I’m happy for ensley. I don’t think anyone wanted her to be delayed. Jenelle also sounded like a real mother in the video so it was very sweet.
