Hey guys, so earlier today I was playing Dota Auto Chess to somehow stress test my build because I just replaced my Swiftech 240X with a Noctua U14s just to stretch the temps. While playing, my computer suddenly restarted. Tried to reconnect after restart and after a while, PC restarted again.

Tried to run CSGO instead, and PC restarted at the end of Map Loading. Tried to run userbenchmark, and PC restarted in the middle of it.

Finally, the last restart was me doing absolutely nothing but Chrome. After that restart, PC won't even turn on for like 5 minutes or so.

Before all this, for the past week or so, my 240X's pump started to give out. It would start sometimes, sometimes it wouldn't. Along with 1 case fan. I just thought yeah well it's been like 4 years, maybe the AIO is finally giving up on me. So I bought the U14s.

And well here I am now.

Help? is this a PSU issue? Should I benchmark CPU/GPU individually to trace this? Temps are very low by the way for everything.

I also already tried to play CSGO last night after installing U14s and ran into no issues whatsoever.

EDIT: Thanks for all the inputs here. Tested if the issue was my GPU by removing it then running benchmarks and all that, but found out that it wasn't the issue.

Next, while fidgeting around with the cables, I noticed the mobo cable connected to the psu was loose (tugging would flicker the lights hence loose). Removed some cables and plugged them back in both to the mobo and the PSU. cleaned a small bit of my very messy cable management. Now, computer's running fine. Finally.

What temperatures are you getting on the cpu?

If the temps are fine, and it shuts off randomly, your psu might be faulty.

I think it was hovering around <60 earlier when I was running Dota. Way below what I was getting when I was using my 240X

Have you checked your internal power connections? Ive seen this with loose power cables going into the mobo.

not yet. Trying to install new drivers for my 970 and checking if that'll fix it.

Userbench crashing on GPU test makes me think that it might be down to either GPU or PSU. But yeah cables might've gone loose when I installed that U14s, so damn hard to install lol.

Yo dude fucking thanks!!!

Troubleshooted the GPU yesterday and it wasn't that, so it just left me with the PSU OR the cables. While removing the cable powering the mobo, I was surprised the cable came off the PSU too. and another one.

So for some reason (might be too much tugging from my removal of the X240 or something), cables that were plugged INTO THE PSU were the ones that got loose...

weird downside to modular PSUs I guess?

But thanks man fucking thanks. Here have some gold lol

Cool, glad the problem is solved. Its nice when its something simple like that. This kind of thing sometimes happens when installing new components.

Thanks for the gold!

Restarted when I tried to run Userbench earlier so I can't really paste results. gonna try it again later i guess hope it can finish

For Event Viewer, the critical error is just Kernel-Power, event ID 41. Same for every restart.

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Only thing before it is the event saying shutdown was unexpected, only ones after are startup events (and "Audit events have been dropped by the transport")

Alright so ran UserBench, and the PC restarted during the GPU Benchmark (CPU, RAM, HD benches were passed).

GPU prob uses more power than any other component at load. Makes me think a power issue is a real possibilty. The fact that it just shuts off and isnt blue screening also supports this.

sounds like hardware failure. troubleshoot psu, gpu. maybe throw the ram through memtester
