I find the statement about measuring differently intriguing. When does a transaction benefit to the value of the network and when doesn't it?

The value from tx fees is small compared to the value of ETH being used as a unit of account (e.g. Gods Unchained, CryptoKitties, and most NFT markets today, etc) and as a store of value (e.g. staking in Eth2.0 and locked collateral in #DeFi products like Maker, Compound, Dharma, etc).
Transactions don't mean much rn. What's more important is how many people are using ETH or are using product that will introduce them to ETH (e.g. games that are free-to-play but let you discover NFT products if you want more).
