I wanted to have a chat about this topic, where we stop focusing just on how they objectify, and belittle women, but also how they make men look like simple assholes who don't care about their relationships.
Recently, it's been the PS3 commercials. There's several other advertisements that might make more fun of one sex, but in the end, they're all based on stereotypes.
I think this is because it's suppose to be humorous. While I agree it's wrong to depict women as whiny and upset because her boyfriend isn't paying attention to her, the fact of the matter is that the commercial is also saying her boyfriend is too big of a dick to give her any attention, because he'd rather play a video gam
"Married life" From /r/pics... I was wondering what your thoughts on this were...
reddit.com/r/pics/comments/birjq/married_life...I know I've been making a lot of posts lately, and you're all probably getting really tired of that AnnaRKey chick, and trying to find the end of her epic posts so you can skip over the babbling. But I'd really appreciate some advice. :)
I'm finally feeling motivated to really push myself and stick to a diet, and try to get healthy again. I use to be really fit a few years ago, but after heavy partying, stress and being depressed for so long, I'm not as fit as I use to be. I quit smoking a few months ago, and already I feel better. Now that I'm over the "OMG food tastes amazing again!" hump, I'd really like to get back into shape.
I'm already working on a calorie budget, exercise goa
The "is there a number that says you're a tramp" post got me thinking...
Is there, or do we, or do you have a definition of what a tramp, slut or whore is? I know it's a terrible topic, but I'd like people to answer honestly, and boldly. This is how we learn our views, and possibly change them.
Personally, when someone says "slut", "whore" or "tramp" I don't think about women who've had lots of sex, or actual sex workers, or strippers or porn stars. I think about a behaviour, or intent. I think it's more of a moral thing for me. Someone mentioned that maybe a lady who slept with your SO, might be considered one of these. But I think that to me, no one deserves to be called these names
It's her birthday, and as the daughter in-law, I want to impress her, and make her something special.
We've decided on white fish (my father in-law is buying), probably Flat Head or Baramundi. We haven't decided on how to cook the fish, but we'll probably stick with our favourite chilli and fresh herb fish rub we normally do, and she loves. Planning on serving this up with a fresh salad, and normally we do potatoes. But I want to do something really nice that will go well with the fish. I was thinking a tomato and mustard torte, but I'm not really excited about making pastry, and I can't find frozen pie crusts. This is Australia, so I'm a bit lost in the grocery stores here.

My boyfriend and I are trying very hard to cut out starchy carbs at night, and keep our intake of "bad" fats to a minimum. We don't eat butter (we cook with grape seed oil), we get our grains in the morning/ lunch time, and prefer to have veggies and chicken or a lean, small portion of red meat with dinner. We're very conscious of what's in our food, and where it comes from, and prefer to cook our own meals. I'm always trying to come up with new ways to keep our style of eating exciting. We're not afraid of anything, one of our first dates we had crocodile, for some adventure, but I'm not expecting anything this exotic. There's nothing we won't eat from the fruits and veggies department.

After all this talk about advertising lately, I asked myself this question. I know what I don't want to see, but what do I want to see?
Real people, using products how we actually use them, and being realistic about expectations, while still being humorous? Maybe, it makes sense. It'd certainly be nice to see a couple standing in a kitchen, that's actually messy, cooking dinner in normal chaos, and having a spill occur. And maybe they both reach for the paper towel and bonk heads or something. That sounds pretty typical to me. Instead of mom baking cookies, and cleaning up the mess her kids left. Some how my scene seems more true to what happens in modern life, and isn't based on old
So, along with the "House husband" thread waaaaay down in the bowls of it, I made a comment, to clarify something, and this was the evil spawn that happened. Did I say something wrong? Or are these people really great examples of reddit assholes? This was the most interesting reply I'm not having a bitch about it, because I know what happens when I can't help but say something. I just want to confirm that I didn't say something that was wrong.
I'm looking for some advice, ladies.
I'm pretty bummed out today. I belong to a large circle of friends, where the ages span from 18 all the way up to mid-thirties. Most of us are nerdy gamers. I have one friend (we'll call her A) who is married with kids. There's a few other people in the circle she is closer with, including her husband, and they tend to be the more tightly-knit part of the group, and part of what holds everyone together.
Friend B, has said some rather nasty things about friend A, but mostly about her husband and people she is closer with, to me. I've brushed most of it off, and stood up for A and those closer to her, and tried to convince B they are over-reacting, or not
