x370 Taichi lagging behind as usual
x370 taichi is the only xx70 with 10 sata ports. I was seriously tempted to buy it due to that.
i bought my 470 taichi ultimate only because of 8 sata slots
its the only one that has 8 sata slots, asus has like 6... the fuck
Yeah, 8 is decent. 6 is too few. 6 is how many I want to put toward 8tb-10tb drives and then the 7th for a boot drive.
you mean tb

Calm down my friend. I too am hoping for a Zen 2 bios, but we're at least a month away from Zen 2, there's still plenty of time.
Not sure what you're talking about with the bios, what issues have you had? It has all the options and more that one could want. Where did you spent $300 for a x370 Taichi? It was $200 when the supply was scarce on newegg(in/out of stock constantly) in March 2017 when I bought mine, now it's $160. Even on Amazon it was only $260 back in May when they got it in stock, so if you paid $300 for the Taichi, I'm sorry but you got supremely ripped off.

Shockingly, it is rather difficult to read another person's mind to ascertain where exactly they're from when they don't specify, they instead just complain vaguely.
Don't be an asshole.
Oh man, you got me, hoho! Context. You say 300 bucks, I assume you're in the US. Is that hard to understand?
Now, since we're done with that, we have to take into account all the other boards that the Taichi competes against. In which case the 275-300 Euro's that you paid for it is/was perfectly competitive with its counterpart(Asus Crosshair, MSI XPower, Gigabyte Gaming K7). The Taichi had better VRM's than all of its competitors, and still has better VRM's than many x470 boards.
I have little doubt that it will have support for Zen 2. These latest bios updates were for APU's, as shown in the first line of the notes: 1.Support new Athlon 2xxGE series APU. I'll let you guess why Asrock isn't updating the x370 Taichi(Hint: No APU support/lack of HDMI).
300 bucks
You could've stated the currency you're using in the first place instead of shitting on someone who was trying to help and has no idea you were referring to european currency.

What other mobo brand would u recommend?

I dont know where you are getting that from. I have had a taichi x370 since fairly early on when we were waiting for AGESA 1.0.0.6 to come out for better memory support. I would know. I got it 2 weeks before my friend got it on his far more expensive Asus Crosshair and my brothers Gigabyte gaming 7. It was the first higher end X370 board to get there for official non-Beta BIOS. Since then, it has been behind by a week or so compared to other major manufacturers and has been behind their lower tier boards by a few days. Which to me is highly understandable as if there are BIOS issues, I would much rather them affect a cheaper, less purchased board than your almost flagship. When you buy a high end board, you do not want to be the guinea pig.
When you place the order of your new cpu then you will change the bios.It is known that degradation on latency is on current cpus.
Still better than their THE top series - Fatality Professional Gaming. It gets BIOS last, with months (6+) of delays.
As a warning to people running the Zen\Zen+ processors, there have been reports of a noticeable performance decrease for users of the older processors on BIOS updates designed for Zen2 using AGESA 0.0.7.2. Unless you have a Zen2 (and if you do share some info you fuckers!), you may not want to update!
My cinebench r20 is the same. 3200. I haven't ran any other tests but I didn't notice any performance decrease. If there is it's really small.
What about your latency, run aida64.People reported broken PBO and latency. So decrease in gaming performance %5.
Can you link to detailed information?
Search it in Subreddit,it was upload 6 days ago.
I'll try this once I get home.
Do you mean the memory latency benchmark?
Give us a break, you got ryzen and never used aida64 latency benchmarks, you never made stability test, you never tweat memory timings, but you came here to write your experience.
cinebench isn't too hurt by latency, ie it's not latency dependent.

Performance was great for me on The newest C7h bios. Stability was non existant though. Random crashes no matter what I did, even with no oc.
Yeah, got a ~10% FPS hit in games and it took me forever to finally be able to boot using 2x16GB 2933MHz DR Samsung B-Die + 2700X on the C7H. Back to 1201.
No X470 Master SLI yet. I can wait, but I hope 3000 support is not skipped on this motherboard.
I have the same board. I'd be pretty surprised if they skipped it entirely.
Can't flash A320M-DGS lul
If the current BIOS version is older than P3.40, please update BIOS to P3.40(Bridge BIOS) before updating this version.
Im on 5.50.
Really. So a random A320 board gets support... but my slightly premium AB350M Pro4 doesn't? Hopefully it will eventually, otherwise bye ASRock for any future board I buy.
slightly premium AB350M Pro4
What.
Well, it's not a bottom-of-the-range board. Certainly less so than an A320 one.
Yeah, I'd be curious if that's actually an A320 board. Might have just been easier to do and therefore faster.
Low effort as it has no features... basically.
They'll probably be rolling out updates in phases, as they usually do.
Don't worry. The update on it is broken. LUL
It actually did.... back on march 20th
https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350M%20Pro4/index.asp#BIOS
They just now updated the 5.70 description to say it includes AGESA 0.0.7.2
Weird, since it's not listed on the linked page.
The link only shows the most recent updates. Since this was updated nearly 3 weeks ago, its not recent.
Do you happen to have the same board? Have you flashed it? How is it? Any stability issues?
I haven't updated mine (still on 4.5 lmao) cause I don't want to break anything but I think it's time to update
I am still on 5.5 because AGESA 0072 is worse than 1006 according to basically everyone so far.
Nice, it's the board I chose for a friend of mine when putting together a PC for him, glad I didn't accidentally dick him over by limiting his upgrade options…assuming everything pans out, of course. Would be dope if he could grab a discounted Zen2 chip in a year or two for a nice performance bump over his R5 1600.
ASRock is weird about their bios updates. When ryzen first launched and agesa 1.0.0.6 was the big savior they were one of the last to have it, but they rolled it out to every single mobo simultaneously when they did get it (while others would leave some behind). Since then I've noticed they typically update from the lower end to the top. Some updates skip the middle/top end mobos even.
So AGESA 0.0.7.2 means support for Zen2? I think the Steel Legend had an update for that like a month ago.
Steel legend probably takes a while though. They are working on a BIOS right now which will weaken the throttling on steel legend board which will happen when you water cool your CPU (anything higher than a 2600). Some streamer tested it and got heavily thermal throttled even though the board has high capacity chokes on it.
Could you provide a link for that or something?
Yeah, that's what it seems to be.
I see. Not sure if I'll upgrade as everything is nice and stable at the moment. There's rarely changelogs for these, right?
Changelogs for AGESA itself are NDA'd, so you don't see those often. But people will usually figure out the major differences pretty quickly.
Why the hell would it be NDA wtf
Hard Launch 27 May on Computex show have been really nice but i predict it takes a couple more weeks after Computex before Stores have stock
I feel like at the beginning it will be tough to even get a CPU. These things will sell like hotcakes.
I dunno. Historically, AMD has never had cpu supply issues (with ryzen). The issue has always been the motherboards.
We'll know more by the end of this month. If stores get stock prior to Computex, we'll certainly know as leaks will be unavoidable.
Just updated mine and reapplied my overclocks, ran some stress tests and everything is fine. Now it's a waiting game for Zen2
I heard some options where removed, did you notice any removed? x470 Taichi
Some low level stuff is gone, mostly things you didn't care about anyway. The overclocking is still all there.
I didn't notice much change. But what I did noticed was that they removed the internet flash.
I will probably update my x470 Taichi when I get home today.
My only attempt at flashing an ASRock BIOS bricked the machine and required Twitter-shaming of ASROck to send me a physical BIOS chip.
Not doing that again.
Is there any reason to do this before Zen 2 is actually out? Seems like it would be premature to do this update on Zen 1 or Zen+.
Generally the rule is always the same - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Or stay one version behind to avoid bugs and bricking stuff , i call it the unifi wifi method :D If anyone uses a unifi AP you know what i mean :D stay one version behind :P
X370 Gaming K4 still cant reach 3200MHz,
Why no Taichi Ultimate... Aww.....
I have the X470 Taichi and I will not be updating until I get a Zen2 Chip. Hearing not great things so i will stay on 2.0 for now. Running my 3200 memory at cl14 at 3600 super stable so no way I'm messing with that right now
May maybe the real launch of zen 2
Steve from GN said yesterday he heard from mobo makers about June/July.
Possibly reveal may and release to consumers in June / July ?
I don't mind later release, I just want fricking official information and possibly some numbers. Being in the dark is killing me Lmao
Let me know when people actually update the bios and do testing to previous version on latency's and ram oc's until then i'm gonna hold off until i see no latency core degradation like i seen in other posts of this agesa.
i tried to flash back from 3.1 to 2.0 for my x470 ultimate with the original tools by AMI and the tools tell me: "nope dude there is something wrong here".
so Asrock was not joking on their website saying :"hey you cant go back"
btw if you guys interessted for AMI Bioses the tools are called "AFU" or AFUDOS AFUWIN etc.
i hope they can fix the microcode later because my fps got cut in half!
nice job AMD. good communication with your partners.
maybe you should have told them more clearly "its a beta and not ment for public use"
stuff like this was the reason i bought intel 10 years ago. this is my first amd system since then and im having a shit ton of problems again.
nice try amd... gg go next
my next system is gonna be intel again. i dont care about the money because it works and i dont need to work on bs countless hours because of bad quality assurance
its not worth the 300$ less on a 2k$ system if u have to bugfix shit for AMD for countless hours of your spare time.
i never ever had any problem like this in 20 years of buying intel both private and professionally.
"hey we have a awesome update but it cuts your performance in half and you will experience our awesome new neuralIQ TECH called HD STUTTERING"
good job AMD (or as some call it "bring me to the mechanic every 4 weeks"

x470
Where did you get that version for the X470 Taichi Ultimate? I've been stalking their website and it's only been posted for the regular Taichi
updates to beta firmware on a working system
gets bug
FUCK YOU AMD REEEEEEEEE
Yep, that's totally how it works.
God like it matters wtf...
...what.
For real now SOME MORE motherboards getting bios updates are news? lol how is this not sad. Ryzen 3000 wont even be out for another 2 months and for each and every mobo we are supposed to make a thread
How is this sad? It's good news for people who have those boards and are considering upgrading.
Because EVERY single board , be they A320, B350 OR X370 will certainly get bios updates. It's a given. Noone is disputing that. If a single board does not I shall eat my own damn arm.
Flashing it now out of sheer curiosity. Watch out - they're saying it can't be rolled back.
Update: running just fine now, will see how good the memory OC is later tonight.
Update2: got 3466CL14 stable with fast timings from the calculator and some procODT/CAD bus tweaking, slightly better than before - 2.00 could do 3200CL14 stable or 3466CL14 with odd one-off errors that I never got around to debugging.
Update3: nope, not stable - seems to behave just like 2.00 did, so I'm back to 3200.
That's my initial finding for BIOS 3.10:
Same setup, similar findings, to get it to boost higher, i have to open Ryzen Master each time windows loads and use a profile with EDC > 140, i.e manually overide or apply gaming with it at 650 or something.
Even then , multi is 4125 and single 4300 , previously i think i got 4125 but 4350 single. Not impressed !
CB20 scores are down from 4260 / 451 to 4230/440
