Thought people here might be interested in this article, as it mentions everyone's favorite Curvy Wife Lover, Robbie Tripp.
"corny doofus" haha
I don’t even follow them but I love the term “corny doofus”.
The last thing that nozzle needs is more press. Ugh!
DAE think he probably keeps a scrapbook with printouts of every article that mentions him?
I'm not trying to be a dick, but why do they say that Sassy Red Lipstick is "astronomically" out of Robbie Tripp's league? He's fine enough looking and she's a specific type that he's into, but I don't think either of them are out of the other's league in any way.
Idk, I think Sarah is beautiful and he’s- for lack of a better term- kind of meh. Every time I look at him I think of every character Seth Green played in a variety of 90s teen movies.
Yeah I mean he’s a little corny looking and not my type but to each his or her own!
Exactly, what’s objectionable about him are his behavior and beliefs, not his appearance
I think they are both pretty good looking physically, not stunning but average to above. What they might be alluding to in the article is that she has a university degree and 400k plus following and he doesn’t have either.
The few times I've seen SRL, I didn't think it was an ugly guy/gorgeous woman situation. I was going to say Mick Jagger/whoever he's with these days but I don't know if anyone could relate. :)
I had to google them, but they look like an average couple. I don’t see it.
Huh. I don't know anything about either of them, but just going by google images I'd say he's more attractive than she is.
I think she's a million times better looking than he is. TBF some of that is his styling choices, really not digging his hair style or clothing.
A specific type that he’s into? You mean above a size 8? 🙄 So I guess a fetish is required to be into a woman like that, huh?
Please don't put words in my mouth. Those are his, not mine.
No, those are your words. I realized that he fetishizes his own wife and that is one of the main reasons he’s hated but some of the attitudes around her in the snark threads are also problematic.
What are my words? "she's a specific type that he's into" ? Okay, well I am paraphrasing his words "my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones who were shorter and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to as ‘chubby’ or even ‘fat.’"
This article is perfect.
This is really an excellent article. Online discourse is frenetic, especially when controversies (like those caused by wife guys) erupt. This article does a good job of pulling back the curtain on why we’re drawn to this kind of drama. Because it really is so damn satisfying.
Also, this dril tweet is incredible:
judge refuses to award my criminal ex-wife ANY of my retweets or favs in the divorce proceedings #BLAMMO
I think Transphobic Richard Carmack needs to be added to the wife guy list. He is so thirsty and trying to gain a following thru FF’s following and it’s just so cringe.
Anatomy of the Wife guy is such a good title for this article, hahaha. Thanks for sharing
Tripp went on to write a self-help book, which Babe.net compared to the Unabomber Manifesto. Tripp later threatened to sue them over the comparison, adding him to another pantheon of online figures: the Extremely Mad and Litigious Guy.
Hahaha, Extremely Mad and Litigious Guy is such a perfect description, I giggled out loud in my office!
This is a lot, I like it.
Patricia Lockwood is a gem
What an interesting sentence. What a time to be alive. Great article, thanks for sharing.
I am so olds.
Kinda incorrect though. Heidi ("elf") is a professional cosplayer if anything (but not a professional like Yaya Han or Jessica Nigri are). Holly is a pigeon aficionado, true, but I wouldn't call her a professional video game player so much as a variety Twitch streamer. Even just calling Heidi and Holly cosplayers would have been more accurate.
I didn’t know there were people who liked pigeons.
There are people who are CRAZY about pigeons! It's a very old hobby and, during certain centuries, was very popular. When Charles Darwin wrote Origin of Species he got feedback about how it should have more pigeon info to make it more appealing to readers (unlike when my class read it and we were all like "what's up with this 20 pages about pigeons?")
I always picture Bert from Sesame Street.
Mike Tyson had a show about his love for pigeons, he has about 60 birds!
Learned something new today (and now I know what I’ll be googling all weekend)!
Nikola Tesla was in love with a pigeon.
Oh, ok.
