Current ps4 meta?

5
ASleazyWhale•

Sniper/recluse, hc/sniper, shotgun/hc. This is just from my experience playing QP and some comp. Meta seems about the same just with snipers now added to the mix.

Not Forgotten/shotgun, Ace of Spades/shotgun, and 390 rpm or 450 rpm pulse rifle/shotgun. A well rolled Erentil is good too.

The effectiveness of other 140/150 rpm hand cannons is limited by their recoil and bloom. Well rolled 180 rpm hand cannons are decent. The pulse rifle thing is more personal preference. Personally I like the 390 rpm pulse rifles more (Bygones/Last Perdition). Dream roll Bygones: Arrowhead brake, ricochet rounds, range masterwork, kill clip, and the last perk is unimportant. Dream roll Last Perdition: slo-21 post, range masterwork, accurized rounds, rangefinder, and zen moment.

Last Word/NF/Ace sniping is viable but not as strong as a shotgun loadout. Plenty of people do well sniping though, and it works better on bigger maps (duh). Recluse is a fun gun to use, but it’s not good in high level play. Its effective range is too similar to a shotgun’s for what its base time-to-kill is.

As for heavy weapons, your main options are Wardcliff Coil/Truth/Hammerhead/Max blast radius legendary rockets.

I want to get the recluse, but I'm fairly average in pvp and a mostly solo player. If I play the 3 game minimum (win or lose) will I be able to hit fabled by seasons end?

5

Technically yes, since I believe you get 120 glory every weekly reset but if you lose 1 of the three matches every week at least, this will delay it by a matter of weeks. You can definitely get it by this method but it's probably the most agonizing one at the same time

4
Esham•

Warlock about to start the comp grind. Looking to go void, leaning away from novawarp as i suspect it'll make me develop bad habits.

Should i just bite the bullet for the melee on mid tree?

Or slowva bomb?

5

In all honesty I believe slova is the way to go unless you are in Clash. All other gamemodes in comp usually rely on teamwork and staying together so Nova warp with get shot down while you charge up your attack. The biggest utility of slova is it's tracking and ability to wipe an entire team in a matter of seconds which is perfect for teams that stick together

3
Jud3P•

Personally I prefer bottom tree, devourer is just too good to pass up imo

2
coltont21•

If I use empowering rift, can I body shot 1 hko with a sniper?

4

Unfortunately no unless using Izanagi's burden with 2 bullets consumed at least. Even though you can't 1-hit bodyshot, you can follow up with another weapon with quickdraw and finish them off with another body shot

3
SovietRussiaBot•

you can follow up with another weapon

In Soviet Russia, another weapon can follow up with you!

^(this post was made by a highly intelligent bot using the advanced yakov-smirnoff algorithm... okay, thats not a real algorithm. learn more on my profile.)

RedditWaffler•

Is Recluse viable in PVP on console? Or best left to PVE?

3
refrigidator•

If you have an aggressive playstyle, it's super viable once the MoA perk is activated. Without the perk though, it's worse than my preferred Trackless Waste SMG (IMO)

6
turumti•

How does opening shot reset? Switching weapons or from not shooting a while? How long? Trying to understand if it’s worth grinding for.

Thanks!

BayLAGOON•

Has anyone else tried out the Calus Mini-Tool in Crucible yet? Had one come with Ricochet/Threat Detector/Feeding Frenzy/Stability MW, and it has a more consistent feel than The Recluse. I know MoA is what makes Recluse a game changer, but without the perk active, CMT gets more hits at longer ranges.

2
ZeroSkitzo•

Haven't given it a shot but wouldn't surprise me as Recluse is a regular/even sub-par SMG without the MoA buff active.

2
Twey25•

I am planning to try a moving target/ surrounded one

2
xhunkxx•

What is the best neutral exotic for hunters in pvp? Titans have OEM, what do hunters get?

2
Whiskeytangr•

My clanmates disagree, but I hold strong that Stomps are the best exotic in the game, across all classes.

4
MrBlueSky0898•

Across all classes? You think St0mp-ee5 are better than one-eyed mask and synthosnipes? Bro if hunters got either of those exotics I’d run them in a heartbeat.

1
Whiskeytangr•

Yah, across all classes. The uptick on all of positioning, agression, and defense is just unparalleled.

1
Eb_Ab_Db_Gb_Bb_eb•

10 mobility and stompies means maximum slide distance, jump height, and strafe speed. And also being the first to peek a lane at the start of a match is big in comp games.

3
xhunkxx•

Thanks all the input, it’s seems like the choice is stompies or dragons shadow. I’ll have to try out both and see which benefits my play style the best

3
CalyceGG•

i'm a fan of foetracer

3
no7hink•

This 100%, I have one with enhanced hand canon targeting and it’s my most precious item ever.

Strangely, I found the tracking better since the last sand box update. I wonder if they changed something about it.

1
Poiseromancer•

Dragons shadow is good, but you need to invest into paragon mods. Stompies and frosties let you run 5 super mods.

3
ASleazyWhale•

Stompies personally. Could also say knucklehead radar.

2
WarlocTV•

Fr0st-EE5's or Dragons shadow as they both provide a buff for dodging which you do on a regular basis. Stompies are good too but the extra abilities from the others like dragons shadows quickdraw and reloading all weapons or fr0st's ability regen for just sprinting bring a lot of value in pvp on top of the movement speed they both provide.

2
bongio79•

I say Dragon's Shadow. I've used it all my way up to Fabled rank in comp, now I just can't put it down. The buff to movement speed and weapon handling is just insane.

2
Elnoe•

I'm never taking off my stompees. I'd recommend trying dragons shadow and stompees then picking your favorite

1
xdiztruktedx•

what's the best way to practice aiming? specifically sniper aim and handcannon aim?

2
ASleazyWhale•

Practicing in PvE. Strikes are still a warmup I use to this day, or going to the edz and just killing mobs.

1

In all honesty I believe the starting Earth region of Trostland is a good area if you just hunt fallen. If you practice sniping and scope on them they usually run/hide but will peek. This allows you to practice reaction time when someone comes out from cover

1
bluusparks•

Maybe not the place to ask this, where should I report for DDoS specifically in comp? Took a picture and video of it happening just not sure where to do it as it’s the first time this has happened lol

2
Eternal_Eradicator•

Look up your game on the bungie website and you have an option to report a player.

The Supremacy is a favorite. Low-zoom, Rapid-fire for quick double-bodies, solid handling and AA. Limited perk set makes getting a decent roll pretty easy.

You get it from Last Wish, but you can get it from the chest between Kalli and Shuro Chi, so you can get 3 chances at it a week for free without doing the raid at all. You can also open the chest between Shuro Chi and Morgeth by teleporting to Morgeth and sword-flying across the gap with a Titan.

4

The Long Shadow is another good option and doesn't require any raid completions. Although it's not a rapid fire frame, it makes up for it with a good combination of impact, range and aim assist

1
Mathemathematic•

Best fusion rifle? And best roll on that fusion? I use Erentil with Under Pressure and High-Impact Reserves.

2

Erentil is arguably the best fusion rifle due to its impact and range and somewhat ease of controlling recoil. Your roll with under pressure is one of the three main perks to go for, but there are other perks that will make the fusion a monster. You could get a rangefinder roll if you want to map people but the charge time leaves you vulnerable to getting shot/flinched, completely ruining your shot if not used well. Personally I use an Erentil with under pressure and backup plan because if you swap to it from your primary, you can let off two shots in about 1.5 seconds and it doesn't affect range. I've gotten over 2k kills on mine and I just got back into Destiny a couple months ago, I couldn't recommend any roll more than backup plan

I'm on PC

What are the top tier warlock subclass/exotic combos for comp?

Is the new blink hat actually any good?

What are the upsides/downsides of AoS vs TLW vs Thorn?

Are there shotguns better than botherian that are worth getting since the last shotgun pass?

Sorry that's a bunch of questions.

2
The_OG_Snorlax•

Super extending dawnblade is very good. Otherwise storm caller top tree. I’m actually weird and use bottom tree.

New blink hat is good for blink shotgunning lol.

AoS pros are range and having a 6 bullet, not times killed clip and it’s 13 mag. Cons are if you put the gun away you lose the memento mori buff. TLW pros are that it can melt shotguns up close, pairs with a sniper well, and is decent from a range on PC when tap firing. Cons are that it doesn’t come close to competing with ace from range. I think thorn is just inferior to AoS, but it can potentially two tap if picking up enough soul devours.

Lord of wolves is currently so good it’s broken. But for non exotics With the menagerie you can farm dust rock, but in general I’d say dust rock and mindbenders ambition, which can also be farmed this week are your best bet.

What are the reccomended splits of the 3 stats on PC?

2
D1rtydeeds•

I'm playing Titan and interested in getting into competitive. Where should I start learning/reading up on builds/strategy? I'll likely be solo mostly but might be able to round up two more noobs like myself to go work as a team. Thanks for your advice.

2
GhostFranks•

I’ve just started a titan character and can’t get used to the jumps, which is everyone’s go to jump?

1
rykef•

Catapult jump is probably the best for aggressive mobility

celcel77•

Sounds like you need to get comfortable with lift canceling. You can press jump while the lift is active to cancel it, allowing for very small vertical lifts. You can also repeatedly lift cancel to "feather" the Catapult jump if you want to travel more horizontally.

The basics are: press jump to jump, then jump to lift, then jump to cancel. Jump again to lift again, jump again to cancel again. Sorry if that's pedantic basics, but just thought I'd try to be crystal clear.

The lift has a lifespan, more or less, and it goes on cooldown after you've used it up (so on long insane-o drops in a strike or something, sometimes you can actually get a little bit of a second lift). So depending on how you feather the different catapults, you can eke out some finesse control once you're really comfortable with it. I'm on console and I greatly prefer Catapult in PvP because it allows me to reproduce some of the obnoxious Hunter tricks like stepping off a stage, then lifting back up to the edge to survive, or it allows me to go aerial, then lift when I want to be more evasive.

2
GhostFranks•

This is a great help, thanks man!

2
rykef•

Catapult jump works better due to the quick movement, slower movements are easier to track. But either way if you are in the air when you shouldn't be you are a sitting duck anyway

1
ZeroSkitzo•

I would go with strafe for in-air mobility and overall "easier" to use. To go back to the ground faster, hit the jump button again once in the air and it should take you down (google can help here too).

Hunter has much better vertical spacing/jumps and titan/warlock are more horizontal/speed jumping although you can float high in the air easily on either but can make you an easier target floating in the air like that.

1
Brutorious•

Strafe IMO, Where Hunters are vertically superior, Titans can utilize cover and be aggressive horizontally even without skating. Works well if you like to play aggressive with shoulder charges, shotguns, and other close range weapons.

1
imean_iguess•

Is range still the key stat to prioritize on pulses, or has the meta shifted in a way that you can go with something like stability now?

1
Tw1st3dCory•

both are great choices, range and stability on console and range for pc

2
Whiskeytangr•

Thay have so much range already that I would generally prioritize stability and handling.

1
HoopersTits•

I am starting my mountain top quest. Any suggestions for grenade launcher rills? What is the best one to use? Fighting lion for special and play of the game for heavy? Mods?

1
Tw1st3dCory•

yes

1
Redsnow3•

Freehand grip for play of the game you should almost never be adsing, shoot it while you’re in the air with the ground as a backdrop so you force an explosion regardless of a direct hit or not. Never ever ever ever ever ever shoot at a person without some sort of solid backdrop if you want consistency. Play outside the most outer range of a chaperone for maximum efficiency. I finished my quest in three days with the loadout nite of the Fox recluse and play of the game. Securing heavy is the name of the game here.

How many points will I get from the weekly bonus. Currently at heroic 3.

1
Tw1st3dCory•

i too want to know this. currently sitting at 2018 glory points and wondering if the reset will push me into fabled, i skipped the last 2 seasons entirely so i need to get my recluse and MT.

1
Tw1st3dCory•

Just checked and its 118

1
celcel77•

The weekly reset is +120 Glory if you've completed three matches, win or lose. Happens on Tuesday @ 10am PST.

0
Tw1st3dCory•

Is this confirmed or are you assuming it's the same as last season?

Just checked and its actually 118 points at heroic for bonus points at reset.

1
celcel77•

I mean, I haven't confirmed it myself, but they also didn't announce any changes, so I have no idea what would be different. It's open ended to me if it's counting for the Revoker quest, but pulling 3500 Glory seems easy enough to me I haven't really worried about finding the answer.

1
Tw1st3dCory•

I skipped the last 2 seasons and the points matter cause now I'll be picking up both the mountaintop and recluse when I get home. Just wanted to make sure it hasn't changed since last season
