Spectrum Community Solutions

My apartment has recently forced me into using the Spectrum Community Solutions ( re-branded MDU).

Spectrum installed a microtik router and no name AP that they and my apartment management can remote into for tech support, updates, etc. I have no control over the configuration, DHCP or anything else. I have been talking with the apartment management and have gotten the OK to mess around with things. Each apartment has their own routers and log-ins so I won't be messing with other peoples things.

I plugged an Ethernet cable into the router and managed to get an internet connection. What I am wanting is to use that as the WAN_IN, on my Edge Router X, on their side it would look like a single device connected while on my side I would still be able to have all my Static IPs, and VLans. It does not have to be publicly accessible. I'm more than happy to go off and do tons of reading / research but I'm not sure what term I'm looking for.

Do I want a NAT or DNAT or maybe something else?

Does it make a difference if the WAN_IN is a LAN from a router apposed to from a modem?

Thanks for the Help

Sounds like a basic NAT situation would work.

I basically use the same setup, my ISP's modem doesn't like to bridge correctly, so i'm just having to NAT out via a 192.168.254.x address, and use DMZ to route incoming traffic.

However, in your case, to make it seem like a single IP address is accessing the WAN port, just use NAT for outbound.

You're "Double NAT'ed" in this case. If you're able to getting into the Mikrotik settings you can set it to forward all the inbound traffic to whatever ip your USG is so if you want to remote into your network that will still work.

If you can't set up forwarding it will still work you just won't have external access unless you run something like team viewer.
