I thought I added this, but apparently forgot; the outside appearance of the building is inspired by this vintage sci-fi architectural artwork. I can't remember who made it.

Thanks. I lost the bookmark I had of it. :)
This is AWESOME!! I will certainly be using this as some inspiration for my next build! What modpack was this on?
This was a modpack we made ourselves for our community. But it was a fairly standard kitchen sink pack. Basically something like ATM3:R, but slightly less extensive. ATM3:R lacks ArchitectureCraft for the slopes, though.
Very nice build. I've certainly been inspired by simonsays as well, I did something mildly similar for a couple IE:E and IE:ES builds. Which pack? The terrain generation looks a bit like enigmatica.
It was a pack we made ourselves, a kitchen sink pack. I think the terrain was generated by Traverse, but I can't say for sure.
Looked it up, level-type=quark_realistic.
Now this is what a sci-fi base should look like. Well done, sir. The interior reminds me of the first Halo title and the level where the player first encounters the Flood. This screenshot in particular made me wonder if the Flood was about to jump out at me from that left corner near your terminals. Either way, this is superb design work.
Unfortunately I never really played Halo. Thanks for the compliment, though!
It's coming to PC, in case you aren't aware. Highly recommended
Sexy AF. Definitely want to make something looking like this!
Go ahead! :)
I'm playing GT: NH, and I've got a 6:30-4 job. And its my first GT pack. It'll be awhile before i can make enough esthetically pleasing blocks to build a nice looking place :/
Most of it is concrete (chiseled) and Flat Colored Blocks. Don't know how expensive those would be in a GT pack.
Wow! Really nice build. Since you used Chisel and Bits, I'm guessing this was on 1.10.2 or up. What mod adds the carpenter's block functionality back?
Thanks! Yeah, on 1.12.2. The slopes etc. are from ArchitectureCraft
Damn noice
Thnx!
By far the most amazing FTB build I have ever seen, bravo
Didn't expect such high praise. Thanks for the compliment.
Great looking build
What's the terrain mod?
Found it; level-type=quark_realistic
I think the terrain was generated by Traverse, but I can't say for sure.
That's a great design taken into account of the terrain.
Would you be willing to upload the pack/world? Looks great!
What are the walkways in the reactorroom made of? Very nice build :)
Chisel glass, called Thick Grid. And then used with Chisels & Bits to make it thin panels, of course.
So I guess u invested some time in this detail? :D
It's not too bad, you can use designs to copy and paste chisel stuff, that speeds up builds like that.
This looks really amazing. Would've love to see more of it, maybe even a walkthrough on how you did those natural walls.
Thanks. I don't know if I can make more screenshots, since that server is currently down. Maybe if we boot it again I can make more.
What would you like to know about the natural walls? It's a combination of Roof Tile, Roof Outer Corner and Roof Inner Corner from ArchitectureCraft (the first three on this image), and then combined in several orientations (rotations) and 'depths' on a wall, until you end up with something like this. It kinda takes a bit of practice until it looks nice. It needs to be random but not random, if you know what I mean.
looks really good you can build something like satellites too. might be useless but will look good
How do you guys have these ideas
What I usually do is think of what kind of vibe I want my base to be, and look for inspiration in architectural history. Or the other way around, I stumble upon a cool building or interior, and go from there. As a graphic designer I'm always looking at stuff online that tickles my fancy, sometimes architecture, and sometimes that ends up being a modded mc build.
That's probably one of the best designs I've seen and I've played forever basically. I will definetly pick some things up for the next time I play a modpack. Thanks for showing!
Thnx! Borrow whatever you want! :) Maybe share it once you've got something cool.
This looks like it took a long time to build
Yeah... that's why we never got to finish it :(
Don't know how long the server was up. Probably took 6 weeks or so.
It still looks fantastic even though it's not finished
Too good to just upvote.
I'm quite impressed, amazing work!
Credit where credit is due; the natural wall formations are inspired by u/simonsays476, who came up with them a few years ago on this subreddit.
I approve of your build, well done!
Much appreciated. We always loved your posts back then. Wonderful stuff!
Think you'll ever come back and do more? :D
Also hi~ ;)
Hi!
Likely no, but maybe if Carpenter's Blocks gets ported over to newer versions.
ArchitectureCraft fits that niche nicely for me, it's what I used in my build.
There is a early build 1.12.2 version of Carpenter's Blocks too, but I don't know how stable it is.
Architecture Craft is waaaaay better than Carpenter's Blocks :)
Architecture craft is the new carpenters blocks. I didn’t think I would ever get over carpenters blocks but architecture craft does everything and more. It also has FAR less FPS hit. Also, wait until you try little tiles. It’s deadly.
