spider-thug, spider-thug, does whatever spider-thug does....
[deleted]
LOOK OUT! Here comes the spider-thug!
Is he strong? Listen bud, He's got crystalmeth in his blood.
Can he pump some serious lead? He'll take a shot at your head.
[deleted]
this whole song just made my day :p
Is he weak? Listen Dawg, He's got cocaine laced blood
Can he swing, from a thread? No he can't, he's a thug.
It's anybody's guess really
BIG APPLE, 3AM
Turtle Power....
Pizza time!
Crazy coincidence is that I was actually playing that game on Friday. O_o
To be a coincidence, two incidences would have to coexist. You can't bank events for possible coincidences later.
It was the first game I ever owned with my SNES. Special place in my heart for the first level: BIG APPLE, 3AM...
Yes, but wouldn't you be correcting him even harder if he had instead said that it was "ironic?"
###Good God Damn Answer!
Maybe you mean incidents or maybe you mean incidences. The incidence of confusion about these words is very high, provoking many incidents.
I was playing it too, actually. Now it's a coincidence.
Original or the ps3 remake? I recently downloaded it, and it's not bad.
It's not a remake; heck it's not even a game, it's just a bunch of code and lies.
Original. I brought in the TV, and a coworker brought in the SNES and Genesis and we have a blast at lunch time.
you called?
Let's kick shell!
PIZZA TIME!
I am so fucking proud of you right now.
I LOVE THAT FUCKING GAME
i certainly hope you're referring to this game, and not this game even though i shit my pants when i could play it at home
Actually, this game:
i hated the original top view game. the arcade game was one of my all time fav NES cartridges though.
is that because the original game was to the turtles series as the game that, to this day, has the best jump for a single character, was to its respective series?
I sincerely hated that sidescroll top down nes ninja turtles game. The arcade game was SO much better.
Bury my shell at wounded knee
My brothers and I always joke about the guy who did the recordings for the level titles. I would seriously buy a t-shirt that had the image of the boss and text saying Big Apple, 3am with the life bars on the top. Pro reddit shirt makers, if you make this happen, I will buy one.
i second this idea. someone, make it happen.
This is an amazing idea. My friends and I are always quoting the level openings from this game.
Awwwhhh, Shell-shocked.
i <3 u
Couldn't have said it better.
Wise man say, "Forgiveness is Divine," but never pay full price for late pizza.
Cricket? Nobody understands cricket! You gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket!
"Ninja pizza!"
"Ninja pizza?"
"Pizza that vanish quickly without trace!"
*full price
Prehistoric Turtlesaurus!
TURTLES IN TIME YES
Turtle power.
I rejoice knowing that there are other SNES brethren out there.
I'm so glad this was the top comment. I was about to write it.

Naw, freerunners.
From the police, maybe.
Say what you will, those kids are fucking living life, knock on wood.
No no. They're grounded and sneaking out to a party.
As someone who grew up in the Bronx, this is the most logical explanation. I've had to climb the fire escape many times because I didn't have keys to my apartment when I was young. Good times.
and it takes TWO people to get back in?
Including two people already in the apartment leaning out the window...
[deleted]
context please.
Did you mean: nigga please
I think he meant ninja please
FLIP IT NINJA!
HEY! african american please, thank you very much
My African friends assure me the proper term is black American.
like every black guy is american in america wtf.so just black. ot is this too racist in america???
Blamerican.
Why's it gotta have blame in it?
Beats Americack.
Blamerican on Americack crime!
What do they call black people who don't live in America? I'm assuming they don't tack on "African" in front of everything.
I'm pretty sure it was just a joke.
[deleted]
None really. 4-5 years ago, was coming back home (yes I still live in that area) and saw this gem. Was pretty drunk so don't remember if I asked them anything or if anyone fell down.
Still surprised to this day how well picture came out since it was deep at night and all I had is regular P&S camera. Street view pic http://goo.gl/6aQI
I don't know why I expected to see two people climbing in the Street View picture.
I know why: Street view is full of weird shit!
the world is full of weird shit, street view just captures it.
I'm going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and say they were locked out and were breaking in to their own apartment. I had to do the same thing two nights ago, only I had to climb over a fence to get to the fire escape in the back.
Actually, I did some extreme building scaling when I lived in Spanish Harlem, similar to what these guys are doing. Although I only had to go one floor up.
They look quite young to me. I think the most likely scenario is they were sneaking into a friend's place without parental knowledge. Probably some young women involved. In either the robbery or own-place scenario, they would have just had one person go in and open the front door.
I am going with this scenario since I see what look like girls waiting at the window just above.
It's new york...they're taggers.
Hah! I didn't even think about that. It's pointless having both of them go up.
Did you notice one of them put their foot through the awning? They must have wised up and realized they should stand on the metal braces.
Maybe or maybe not. In any case if I saw that I would immediately call 9-1-1 and let the police sort it out. I don't know if that is innocent or a home invasion in progress, but it is suspect enough to qualify as an emergency in my book.
Then why both of them are climbing? usually if you're locked out and are accompanied by other people then only one will climb (and risk falling) to open the door for the others. Thieves usually enter accompanied in order to cover themselves if there are people inside the house.
Whether they're committing a burglary or they're trying to get in their own home I'd say they're both pretty dumb and haven't considered the consequences.
I used to write graffiti, and I can tell you without a doubt that backpack is full of spraypaint and these guys are graffiti artists. Just my .2c
They're gonna graffiti inside that apartment?
Yope.
SpaHa
I thought they were going to do some graff but the streeview shows none.
The next night some free-climbing graffiti-removing vigilantes struck and scrubbed it all off. Of course.
I'm gonna guess that they are probably taggers trying to find a hard to reach spot on that building. Admittedly, from the streetview image, there don't seem to be that many great spots for graffiti, but those large beige chunks of building make it look like they have painted over vandalism before so perhaps they were trying to reclaim a spot that they lost.
Hey, HEY! You're stealing my thunder buddy. What are you basing that on, I assume because they're BLACK?!
Racist.
$6.50 for a pack of Marlboros......
More like 12 bucks
yeah it's like 10.50 for Camels in NY
Key Food, ohh the memories.
You sir, are lying! In the photo it's a deli, now it's an American & Asian mini mart!
Clearly there is no way both those business could have been in the same location.
That would have been right when I moved there. Fucking zoo that place is. Glad I got out.
Were they coming or going?
Is it just me or is it yellow in street view, and green on your camera? The canvas overhang that is.
On second thought, I guess streetview images are usually dated.
His picture was taken 4-5 years ago.
You promised a Street View link but all I got was a stinking spreadsheet :(
STOP.
It's hammer time already?
Stupidest novelty account ever.
"coming back home i saw this semi-precious stone"
Yes please. There are a couple of obvious scenarios (locked out, burglary), but the people looking out the window mess them up...
Definetly escaping their gf's parents, or running from the cops, or they are outnumbered by a rival graph crew.
maybe graffiti artists?
Nope, there are girls looking out the window for chrissake! They are leaving a booty call with their teenage girlfriends, obviously, and don't want her parents to catch them.
this was my first guess. I had a buddy who would climb on the sides of bridges and other really dangerous things to tag highway signs.
happy one-year!
Happy Birthday.
A little additional context that debunks a lot of commentors' idea that this photo is from the Big Bad Bronx. I'm also from this neighborhood (Brady Court). The neighborhood is a solid, working class, family-oriented place with very little crime or tagging. It's a mix of aging Jews and Italians with plenty of South Asians, Albanians, and Dominicans (among others). The next neighborhood over is dominated by Italians and the zoo is on the other side.
I'm going to throw my weight behind the hypothesis that they just wanted to see if they could do it. It looks to me like stupid things I did as a teenager.
The Party can happen anywhere maaannnnnnn.

Zero Punctuation reference, very nice.
Next time, call the cops BEFORE posting to reddit.
The cops know better than to go to the Bronx after 2am.
I live in the Bronx, and this is true.
I dunno, I lived in Yonkers by the Mt Vernon West station. I would sometimes go for a walk over to the 241st station on the number 2 line late at night. I think I was the only white bread person wandering around. Never got mugged. Some 'hunh' stares but generally people ignored me. I think the latest I was out and about in that area was about 1 am. I am actually kind of missing the energy of the place.
That's one scary neighborhood there. I drove a sitter home there one night, and it made me think twice about staying out late with the wife.
Ah, Wakefield. I love that area. People are intimidating, but will not confront you unless you try to start something.
Hipsteritis hasn't spread that far yet?
Nope, and damn proud of it. They've tried, but it hasn't taken so far. It won't happen for a while.
Why do you say that? What stop gap measures are there to prevent rich folks from moving and taking over? Rampant violence?
NYC is general is relatively crime free. Per capita, you are more likely to have a crime committed against you in the subburbs than in the poorest areas of nyc.
Where is took place is not one of the poorer areas. Its a middle class area.
got lost trying to get out of NYC once and ended up there once at around 1AM. scared shitless even when I was looking at the map in my car. never again....
edit: grammar
once
He said he took the pic 4-5 years ago...
I lived in the Bronx from 1993 to 2000 (from 9 yo to 16). It gets a worse reputation than how it actually is. I only got mugged once, and it was a Halloween mask, some assholes just ran behind me and ripped it out of my head (and lightly punched me in the head first). I also almost-got-mugged maybe 3 or 4 times, it mostly consisted of some random sketchy people asking me to lend them some money, and I said I didn't have any.
My favorite memories are playing basketball on the sidewalk. Our hoop would be a metal bar nailed across a 90-degree tree branch (so the hoop would be a triangle). We'd just take up the sidewalk and play until nighttime. Also rollerblading with some girls I liked (maybe that was my problem) all over the Bronx, sneaking into Bronx Science campus at night to play truth-or-dare. Lots of good memories. Boogie down represent.
It's very doubtful these people are going up a wall to go stealing, it is too conspicuous and inefficient, they're probably just tagging the place.
It always start with "yo, you have a dollar?" There's no right answer, except to run.
no "hey can I borrow your phone?"
Best attempt I have ever heard, "hey could I look at your phone" (UK not US)
I fell for this.
One time about two years ago, I had just gotten a new phone. A fancy smartphone, first phone i had in years. I went out drinking that night with a few friends, somewhere in the city centre. This group of tinted persons come up, wanting to smoke some weed with us. we decline, they light up anyway. a small black guy runs up to them and pushes the leader of the group. they fight and the black guy gets his ass kid en masse.
later we see the same group, we're pretty hammered by now. the guy who fought says he tore his sweater in the fight and wants to buy mine for 30 euros. i think, wth. so i say sure. he says i only got 50. i tell him lets go get some change at the place where cabs wait to pickup people. this is in between loads of nightclubs, pretty safe and open.
he hollers at the cab people in turkish or whatever. they dont comply to his request. so we keep on walking.
before i know it we're smoking and sharing lifestories. he was a convicted murderer (self defense) who only recently was released. his body was riddled with scars and whatnot.
fast forward, we still need the money. by now im far removed from anywhere i know that i just stick with him. shit gets hazy here. i end up in a car with a bunch of black men i dont know and that dont look safe. its 4am.
the guy im with walks out of the car, borrows my phone to call a friend to pick us up so he can drop me back into civilization. i get thrown out of the car im in.
im like, wtf. my phones gone and im stuck here. i wait. the dude comes back, tells me sorry im late man.
so we walk to his friends house (he says). here he wants to borrow my phone again, i comply. tells me to wait out of sight, i do. but i peek to see if hes still there with my phone.
he says, dude if i wanted to rob or stab you i couldve done so a long time ago many times. thhis made sense to me.
then he disappeared.
i went to the cops, but the station was closed. walked further to another station, filed my report. called my phone, dude said he'd pick me up at the station. he didnt.
phone gone and im still stuck on my expensive 2 year plan.
That's the oddest robbery ever.
Lesson learned: never trust a nigger.
most thugs "know" that phones are tracking devices and that cops will be busting down there door if they steal one.
at least around the area where I live
Lol one of my coworkers had a kid ask them this on the street coming to work one day. Since it was broad daylight, on a fairly busy street, I guess he didn't think it would be too bad an idea (the kid was probably 13.) He says he heard something about 'Just keep going we'll meet back at the house there are cops everywhere now'. Little did he know that the kid was with a group of other kids that had just stolen our bosses' boat off the dock below the restaurant =p
Huh. I've been asked that same question in the hood many a time (in fact, it seems to be people's favorite thing to ask me), without being mugged.
They use it as a gauge, to see how vulnerable you are. If I am asked, for instance. I don't even look at the person, and I just keep walking.
From all appearance, people usually ask me for money cuz they want money.
It is from my personal experience, so I guess it goes different in different places. I live in Queens, though not known to be dangerous still has its own dangerous neighborhood. May I ask where do you live?
I got mugged once in queens, in flushing no less, by an asian guy and a few friends, and that started out, Do you have a Cig, which turned into, do you have a dollar, your right.
Walking around early in the morning in corona I prevented a few muggings by saying I wasn’t stupid enough to carry money, and trying to make the guy laugh, I think it worked
I lived in Brooklyn for a while. On the way home from the train once an old white guy asked "do you speak English?!". It threw me off just long enough for him to ask for money.
I think that same guy hangs out next Weill Cornell/Memorial Sloan.
That or someone else has figured out the secret...
...tell me you're trolling.
Actually a very good friend of mine had his jaw broken in 2 places and spent 3 days in a hospital cause some guy says "Yo u got a dollar or 2 bud?" and he says no and 3 punks come running from a few feet away and kick the shit out of him, and then when they open his wallet and it has no cash in it they say "why the fuck are you so poor" and kick the shit out of him again.
This happened in a cross walk and he was left there when the light changed and a couple cars drove around him until finally someone stopped to help.
Growing up in Philadelphia I had several friends who had their faces broken without warning or question when riding on the el train. Some of you older cats probably remember such antics being called wildin'. My point being that everybody has a friend that's been fucked with and anecdotal stories about how so-and-so caught a fist is no way to base an argument. Especially when it's more likely that he was going to get jumped period and those dudes were looking for a way to get him to stop walking. Asking for a dollar has nothing to do with it.
Mah cuz lives in the Bronx and has been legit mugged 3 times. The Bronx is fucking ridiculous for that. I'd feel way safer pretty much anywhere in Manhattan.
As opposed to fake mugged?
It's funny how the City thinks it's a great idea to basically make it impossible to own a CCW, let alone own a target permit...When the criminals are the only ones who have access to firearms, how the hell are we supposed to feel "safe"? The NYPD can't be fucking everywhere at once.
well when I'm out at 2 in the morning and some asshole comes up to me and says, "yo, you have a dollar?" I just say, do you think I'm stupid enough to be walking around at this time of night with money in my pocket? I was mugged just last month by some guy, anyway, I'm sorry, if you hit me up during the day I would have given you a buck my friend, but I stopped walking around with cash at this time of night
Its worked for at least 2 people who I knew were going to mug me, though where I was usually waiting for the bus, that area had about 3-4 bums who would ask everyone for a dollar or a quarter, I had to learn who they were quickly, because if I pulled that line on them, they actually would try to hit me up during the day.
I say, "Yea, quite a few of them in fact!"... then I put my thumb in the pocket with my knife.

Ever see a crackhead breastfeed a rat?
Can't see a thin ass Nike basketball bag as good replacement for a bookbag full of Krylon's... imagine how much noise it would make in that thin bag, plus the fact that the cans will be fuckin' ya back up. I think their trying to get into a friends apartment, underage style.
Some buildings have perfect spots to climb up from.
ripped it out of my head
That's one hell of a mask.
It gets a worse reputation than how it actually is. I only got mugged once

Unrelated, but I find myself saying that in my head whenever I see an attractive woman.

i get it! because theyre black!
Judging by the hair and the skin glow from the light of the bottom guy, it seems more likely he is of Latin descent.
However, the top guy, judging by the shoes, basketball shorts-- I have no fucking clue.
Nice to see some thieves with an actual work ethic and some cultivated skill. Too many amateurs nowadays think all you have to do is wave a gun around and the money will steal itself.
True enough. I wouldn't feel quite as bad if a thief robbed me by scaling a wall several stories... at least they put effort into it.
Heh. Got robbed once by someone who jumped from my fire escape (where the windows are barred) to my bedroom window (which isn't). I was too impressed to be mad.
OMAR COMIN', YO!
Just because it's the Bronx does not mean that these fine young men are up to trouble. Oh wait.
Why's my TV floating?
I am trying to teach myself to be politically correct, so I shouldn't laugh at that.. but dammit it made me crack up completely (picks self off floor)
Amazing, this photo must have been taken by a tourist as nobody looks up in New York.
Hm, he probably has pieces of the codex in that backpack. If you try to get them from him though, watch out for his hidden blades.
Sneaking out for a night on the town.

No, Amber Lamps is a racial slur. Amba Lamps is more politically correct.
I was under the impression that while Amba Lamps was once the generally accepted term, more progressive folks are moving towards simply Amb-Lamps.
That "P" throws things off though, and has been further reduced to Amb-Lams
Yes. Merriam-Webster defines it as Amber-Lamps, while a common literary form has become Amba-Lamps. Recently some novelists and critics have started skipping "p" and now Amba-Lams is a more common form.
I'm so progressive I just remain quiet and everyone knows what I mean.
wait, wasnt Amber Lamps something like the Green Lanterns but with higher heriarchy?
And a more mercurial personality.
Or the Beebot as my friend calls them.
The word is ambulance.
and you don't call Amber Lamps, you bring Amber Lamps
Came here looking for the AC reference. It looks almost perfect.
Damn I'm old. In my mind AC abbreviates Asheron's Call, not Assassin's Creed. This also happens when MW abbreviates Modern Warfare instead of Mechwarrior.
Anal Cunt.
AC abbreviates Animal Collective and Air Conditioning where I come from... can someone help me understand this picture?
AC technicians night working in NY.
Assassin's Creed is a video game where you play as a guy that kills a bunch of people and you can climb on buildings.
I'm 24 and AC is still Asheron's Call. Harvestgain (I think that was the name) and Wintersebb FTW.
Wintersebb was fun. There was something fun about being forced to play with awful equipment and having to start the "economy" from scratch. Totally made teamwork i.e. the allegiance system critical.
I played on Leafcull. It was awesome. Kinda wish I'd rolled on Wintersebb for the experience you described.
Harvestgain ftw.
I'm so old AC means "alternating current" on first glance. Actually, I'm only 18.
AC is also the abbreviation for the bus system the "ambalamps" episode took place on. It's called AC transit.
I'm old too, AC2 is just what I'm playing today.

No, thug people. I live amongst them, and they come in the white variety as well.
Oh, so they’re thugs? You should write captions for the AP.
Your point would have been made if they had been the same picture. I see two different stories.

How is this possibly being downvoted?
Edit: I don't understand reddit anymore.
I think people are just clicking the downvote button. It's the button that looks like a downward facing arrow.
The upside down up arrow? So that's what that does.

I see it seems like a bad idea to make nemesis jokes in this thread. So consider this as a not-nemesis-not-joke.
