Yes we're sure unfortunately. He's by far more physically gifted than Brady or Manning ever where, but damn near just as gifted in the football IQ department as those two. Injuries might begin to take their toll sooner than Manning or Brady but I doubt he's going to to have a serious regression anytime soon barring some catastrophic injury.
Sounds about right. Possibly the most "talented" QB of all time. But not the best of all time. Top 10 for sure: Brady, Montana, Elway, Manning, and Unitas are all above him.
Certainly too early to say this is the case now... but if Mahomes keeps playing like he did last year he’s going to be the most “talented” in the fairly near future.
Rodgers absolutely has him beat in the accuracy and athleticism department though, right? I mean Mahomes is on a completely stacked offense in the most QB-friendly scheme in football. Yes, he deserves praise for maximizing his situation and for having an arm that NASA's looking into for their Mars missions, but Rodgers has been dragging terrible teams in a horrible scheme into the playoffs year after year.
Accuracy, sure. Athleticism, not a chance. Mahomes has him beat there by a longshot.
RODGERS CAN'T THROW LEFT
I think the Packers are mostly going to be a middle-of-the-pack (no pun intended) team that wins some games they probably shouldn't, but to question whether Rodgers is still elite or not is absurd. Dude is still a top 3 QB in the league and frankly might be number one, let's not be silly
He’s the most talented QB in the league. Period. And that’s just the way I like it, no excuses when the Bears inevitably sweep the Packers this year.
Don’t bring the bad juju
I really hesitate to question Rodgers' greatness. The Packers made a lot of changes that were due, signed some good players (albeit for a lot of money), and I am worried that Rodgers with a chip on his shoulder will rock the NFL.
The second half of the article basically explains it and how the new system could bring him back to his better statistical performances. I hope it all blows up.
Only the biggest and most delusional meatball fans would say he isn't.
he still elite
Like Flacco?
exactly
Elite at crying!!
Are we sure 538 is as reliable as it gets made out to be. The Hillary 2016 campaign would like a word
They had the race very close:
Hillary’s lead is shrinking and Don’t Ignore The Polls — Clinton Leads, But It’s A Close Race
Trump is Just a Normal Polling Error Behind Clinton
Comey takes Clinton from 81% chance of winning down to 65%
There’s a scenario by which Clinton loses a state like Michigan or Pennsylvania if enough white voters without college degrees turn out for Trump
Yes, no question. Hes still top 5.
yes, dudes fucking nuts. people talking shit on him last year need to realize that he played half the year on one leg and the whole team was just a mess.
any bears fan who doesnt fear rodgers must be a new fan
r/chibears, where Rodgers isn't elite but Trubisky is
I don't buy him as a top-3 QB in the league anymore. A top 10 for sure, but I just don't really see it.
He hasn't been healthy in two years, he's 35, and his style of play requires a lot of running around. Every time he gets hurt, it takes him that much longer to recover and he's that much slower afterwards. It's not an issue if you're Tom Brady who finds and throws to a receiver before an edge rusher even gets close to him. But when you're Aaron Rodgers and the signature thing that makes you great is your immunity to pocket collapses due to your mobility, what happens when that mobility gets hindered?
Why are we asking this? He absolutely is. He played most of last year with a messed up knee and still played pretty damn good.
We seem very quick to forget week 1 of last season. The guy is still elite.
For the life of me I cannot understand why they didnot trade Aaron for 2 first rounders. Jags, Titans, Dolphins, Raiders probably would have coughed it up. Then the new coach can come in with a clean slate, install the offense they wanted, and have 3-4 first round picks to do it with.
And do not tell me Aaron is "too good" to trade or some shit. Montana went to the Chiefs, Manning went to the Broncos, Favre went to the Jets.
If you have a top 15 QB, you don't trade them.
Rodgers is top 8 at worst, top 3 at best. He's untouchable, unless you're a damn moron. Trade Rodgers and the Packers are worse than the Cardinals.
Rodgers is an overrated piece of trash. Guy makes the impossible throws routine and routine throws impossible. Throws screens into the dirt and out routes at the ground. He's made a living off of broken plays that turn to touchdowns. I will never admit he's an elite quarterback
I will never admit he's an elite quarterback
Please limit who you talk to, then, because you'll make Bears fans look like petty idiots.
Lol I wouldn't even classify him as a top five quarterback. If he stays healthy for an entire season then we'll talk, but he just can't do it. He always has an excuse as to why he's elite "he was hurt for x amount of games" "he doesn't have the receivers that he needs" "he doesn't have the right coaching" at what point is it the fact that Erin just isn't the god we all think he is
Aaron is literally the only reason why the Packers are consistently playoff contenders, especially since their defense went to shit. You take him away and that team barely gets 5 wins.
Also, you're just objectively wrong. Out of the 11 seasons hes been a starter, hes played a full season 7 times, and 15 games twice. The only other 2 seasons he was out for more than half the year were due to injuries that would sideline virtually any player.
If you're gonna have bad opinions at least be factual. Othereise you just sound like an ass.
Past four years Packers are 33-30-1. That's less than 2 percent above .500. they need him because they have a trash backup. Throw Philip rivers or Russel Wilson in that offense and they would do better. Rodgers has finished with a qbr less than 100 three times in the past four seasons. At one time he may have been "elite" at some point, but he's overrated and occasionally remarkable in primetime games.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, he is nothing more than a system QB that started to absolutely suck once the system started getting exposed
Week 1 last year should answer that question for us.
If Kyle Fuller catches that ball that hit him in the chest, that game goes down as one of the worst games of Rodger's career. Not just the gravity of the loss at home, but that adds an interception and subtracts TWO tds from his statline that night.
I know it's a hypothetical... but if you give mulligans to professional qbs in the nfl like that, they end up looking like they are all world.
If Kwitkowski isn’t on the Bears roster, the Bears blow Green Bay out.
Or if Ro doesn’t hold out, or or or...
Exactly. Imagine the Bears had Tom Brady and we were the evil empire everyone hated
Indeed. Any team in the league would cut off a finger to have him so I’d say yea, he’s still elite.
That magic was gone in the 2nd matchup. I don't think he leads the comeback if Roquan was standing where Nick was Week 1 last year.
But that all was last year and this year is this year. Both teams are quite different leading in to Sept 5.
Was expecting some crazy homer reply as the #1. I'm glad there's still sense here lol. Like it or not #12 is one of the greatest to do it.
