There’s more truth to that last statement than I was ready for 😂😂

Thank you! I would love to read it aloud at some point. I can see the repetition you mean, I think that comes from just being mad, you keep asking the same thing expecting a different answer.

I’m an amateur, but this is my take. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem. The rhythm was especially noteworthy imo, this poem would sound amazing spoken aloud.

The line

>It wasn’t what you said it was the words you used

Was genius to me.

>Was it worth it?
>>
>>>Did you get what you wanted?

I’m 50/50 on these lines. I’m curious as to why you added the second question, which I felt was a little repetitive. On the other hand, it reads fine and fits the rhythm well. Either way, fantastic poem.

Thank you for your feedback I am flattered

With the socks line I was more so trying to convey the feeling of being unimportant and what it means to be in the rotation and less so used and tossed.

You used "connotation of rotation", and honestly it's one of the best - what do you call it - Stanza finisher I've encountered. As someone who have had such friends in the past, like the guy you described, getting a first hand reaction from the female after finding out "the rotation" is exotic, and the description takes me back to that time, and make me feel really pissed at those friends.

I am no expert, but

> Socks in your drawer

Shouldn't it be more like a first class bus ride, for example? He's glorifying his vile act, and, while socks does give the "use and throw" impression, it's not something one can show off. Other than that, WOW!

I love the comparison between speaking, and meaning. Hand in hand with comparison between listening and understanding. World of difference

the line “it’s not what you said it’s the words that you used” is definitely one i hold close to heart and i think you portrayed very raw emotion in this poem. i think it’s very clear that you had a certain thought i mind when writing it.
i prefer poems that you can imagine in your own way, but i definitely think this is a poem with a strong message that is good on it’s own x

kudos to you. i really felt this guy treating the girl like a straightup piece of meat. i also loved your planet metaphor! i’m not a critic but i felt hate for this asshole as i finished reading. good job!!

I like how you used the idea of rotation in two opposite ways, and even the phrase "connotation of rotation" with its triple rhyme. In the first use, I picture the guy almost sitting in front of an imaginary round conveyor belt with the girls on it as it moves, he takes one, uses her, puts her back, and moves on to the next, and repeats the process. While in the second, I picture the guy and the girl like the Earth and the Sun, one rotating around the other, especially as you mention gravity. Both the imagery and the words made me utterly enjoy this poem, and I could visualize the interactions between both parties.

Did my photo impress your friends?

Did you show them your favorite features of my body?

Did you tell them I was a smooth ride, that the test drive was easy?

It’s not what you said it was the words that you used.

The connotation of rotation

One of many, easily replaced

An object for your pleasure

Not a person, Not a partner

Nothing more to you than the socks in your drawers.

Was it worth it?

Did you get what you wanted?

You could have been the center of my universe.

I could have been in your “rotation”

The gravity of you pulling me in

The sun in my sky,

an orbital revolution

Star trails in my eyes

But you won’t get to see me glow
