Brawl decks severely allocated in the US
Just a heads up to those that have preordered or plan on picking up release weekend and haven't- I just got off the phone with my Southern Hobby rep and of my preorder of 40 displays (320 decks), we are only getting 2 (16 decks). According to him, that is the most of any of his accounts, and after checking with some other store owners, this seems to be the case across the nation.
We routinely order 120+ boxes between prerelease and release and usually around 250-300 prereelase kits each set, so we aren't a really small or new account, which I would maybe then understand.
Also, to confirm the earlier post, they do not include the 2 ELD packs as accidentally shown in early product pictures.
TL;DR- do not be surprised if your preorders get cancelled, however, do not expect to walk into your LGS day of release and pick these up either.

If these are not widely circulated then brawl is dead on arrival. It will be an arena only format.
Going according to plan then probably.
It would be in wizards best interest for this to be more than an arena thing. They want people buying standard sets.
Not only that, but people would rather play EDH than Brawl. A big allure of EDH is that cards never rotate.
I wish Wizards would stop pushing Brawl so hard. Yes, we get it. We know you want to push selling packs and Standard sets that become useless after a year due to rotation. But the players don't want that. They want their cards to be playable forever.
Yea I don't see what the issue with brawl is. It's basically standard vs legacy.
Legacy will always be better but standard is easier to get into. Same can be said for EDH and Brawl. I don't plan to play brawl at all but I can see why they are doing it. All it means for us is that they print more cool EDH cards in standard set.
However if they are gonna make cards like arcane signet they better fucking print a ton of these precons. Otherwise they are just making the problem worse.
I love Brawl precisely because it’s not a giant Legacy-sized card pool. It’s a frigging casual format and should be treated as such.
If I really want to show off my wallet competitively, I’d rather do it right with Legacy and Modern rather than a casual based format like Commander or Brawl.
It seems like a great format for people who like to draft every week. This could be like a free format for those who draft every week and don't mind trading a little bit.
What's the problem in supporting a format you don't like, if you are someone that doesn't want to buy many new cards anyway?
What do you want WotC to do? Print 4 standard set/year and that's it?

These two things are not mutually exclusive
Seeing "Return to Zendikar For Real This Time, Guys", I'm guessing this year's Brawl decks include Shocks, Scrylands from Core2020. Next year's could include Allied Scrylands from "Return of the Elspeth" and enemy fetchlands from Zendikar. That would certainly be a reprint that would keep them going.
Why is everyone so insistent on a fetchland reprint in Zendikar?

The last time Fetches were reprinted in Standard, it was not a Zendikar set. The Battle for Zendikar set had a different cycle.
With Wizards penchant for coupling up premium topper packs and stuff, its likely we see fetch reprint in something in that context there, but those wont be standard legal.
Brawl was introduced as a format last March. My impression is that it has been more-or-less dead for 5 or 6 months.
It was not supported before this is their first real move at supporting it.
It died when they refused to ban Baral. This is an attempt to resurrect it.
Baral is banned
Yeah but the ban took too long, and the format died in that period.
Kinda the same as how Mirrodin-Kamigawa Standard was utterly ruined by the Affinity decks even though they were banned before Mirrodin rotated.
The bigger issue is if any of the unique cards see standard play, right?
For real. Not mass printing these like commander precons would be horrible for wotc.
It will only ever be an arena format and i doubt it will even be that popular on there.
Multiplayer games don't have much draw online, compare paper commander to commander on MTGO.
A huge part of the draw to multiplayer formats is the social interaction with the other players. That is severely restricted on MTGO, and non-existent on Arena. As long as you're limited to a handful of emotes, I can't see multiplayer ever taking off on Arena.
Heck, Arena still doesn't have a friends list!
Personally, I think a Friends List is an oversold feature. This isn't 2010 anymore. Most PC users have multiple launchers with a scattershot of friends spread through them, with Discord functioning as a unified friends list.
Beyond that, Arena is a strictly 1v1 game. It's not like you're looking for teammates in LoL or WoW or something. You don't need a readymade list of friends to get anything done in Arena.
