+1 for Acme. Pricy but sturdy and awesome.

I think I might end up getting the Acme ones, I really like how thick they are.

ACMEs are prime.

Alternatively, you could look at Loveramics. Similar design to the ACME, they use them at the Latte Art World Championships.

I purchased asked some Acme cups the other week and they came in a few days ago. Extremely happy with them, they're super solid and you can tell they're quality material. Very happy with my choice. I think next time I buy some cups I'll go with not neutral to see which I like more. The nice thing about Acme is you don't have the buy the saucers, they're separate. And more colors too, the red and light blue I especially like.

I catch the streams right from the spouts in my mouth, so no demitasse needed...

Acme Evos and some Libby Gibraltars

Most of my drinkware was influenced by what I've seen in trendy coffee shops around town:

  • 3, 8 & 10 oz Duralex Picardie glasses live up to their namesake of being impressively durable; I've dropped them from counter-height onto laminate floors, and they didn't even chip. Being handle-less, however, they can be a bit hot to hold.

  • notNeutral VERO cortado glass if you can't find the original 4.5oz Libbey Gibraltars. The VERO glass has quite a bit more heft - 350g!

  • notNeutral LINO ceramic cups (espresso, cappuccino, latte, & coffee mug) are the ones you see most frequently in specialty coffee shops. Their handles are really well designed for holding (for both the barista and consumer), and they have a simple - but recognizable - design. Ceramic is just the right thickness so it doesn't feel brittle, nor does it feel like you're sipping a mouthful of mug every time.

  • Cafelat espresso cups were recommended by CoffeeGeek, but the notNeutrals have definitely overtaken in popularity. Handles are a bit thinner but have a wider opening.

What some newer, trendy coffee shops I've seen using are Libbey Winchester rocks glasses. They're certainly eye-catching, but are prone to the same hot-potato issue as with any other handle-less drinking vessel. They seem to only be available from restaurant supply stores, though.

Honourable mention to the Fellow Monty and Joey tumblers. They don't have handles, but the dual-wall ceramic means better thermal insulation. I have a 4.5oz Monty. I had an espresso in a Joey demitasse once, but found the ceramic to be too thick for my preference. Can't comment on the larger sizes.

eightouncecoffee.com will be your go-to for the notNeutrals; I got the Duralexes from Amazon and the Cafelats from idrinkcoffee.com :)

Awesome, thanks!

+1 on Monty. I have the whole set of cortado/cappuccino/latte sizes and love them. Study, durable, functional, aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean. I think they're perfect if not a tad expensive.

A cheap standard glass, but I'm going to buy loveramics demitasses in gunpowder and granite, they are a beauty.

They really are!

I've been thinking about starting a line of eapresso glassware (cups, saucers, demis, shots). If you've been thinking same out there, PM me and perhaps we can kick something around.

I’m just starting on my espresso journey and by no means an expert! I might end up buying some from you though.

This was an invitation for others as well. :)

I used my points from buying my machine to get the Profitec cup set and love them. I use some generic gray IKEA mug for my lattes that has good color contrast.

3
Chimneydanger40OP•

That’s a good idea! I’ll keep that in mind when it’s time for me to upgrade.

Ooooo like those, I've had my Profitec a few years and never seen those.

I have a mixture of old ACF cups and newer ACME gen 1 and gen 2.

The new ACME cups are brilliant and I basically want to ditch my whole set to replace with those!

Loveramics in various colors

Chimneydanger40OP•

I was eyeing these ones actually but there doesn’t seem to be a good option (without customs charges) to buy from Canada unfortunately.

1

Yeah, in some places they seem hard to get. Here in Germany we had issues getting the right size without paying an arm and a leg for shipping.

Some double walled bodum glasses, i'm planning on replacing them with the Fellow Joey mugs.

Fellow Joey mug ..Those are nice but I still prefer the Bodum, making espresso for my peeps and they can see the layers, win win.

True, straight shot of Espresso on glasses looks amazing. It's only when you start adding milk it looks not so appetizing. I also prefer my tea in glasses.

Acme Evo (flatwhite and demitasse)
Not Neutral Vero (Cortado/Gibraltar)

4 Acme flatwhite cups and 3 Cortado glasses fit on top of the lelit bianca. I keep espresso cups room temp. My preference is a cooled down espresso.

Le Cruset espresso cups. Set of six, each a different colour. Volume is a little over 3oz. Love the quality and colours but find the volume to be a little large. I'm not sure if they make them.anymore. didn't see them on their website. They do sell sets of two espresso cups with saucers. The volume is around is a little over 2oz.
