Are there any motorway capable electric motorcycles being sold in New Zealand?

My motorcycle is needing replacement and I don't want to commit to a new petrol motorcycle.

I have been searching the internet but can't find dealerships that sell electric motorcycles. I have found UBCO and Lifan scooters but they are too small to use the motorway.

I did find Evoke motorcycles but no dealerships that sell them.

Have I missed something. Are there no electric motorcycles in NZ larger than a scooter?

Zero..

But I am unsure how you'd go about getting one in NZ ? They were in Australia for a time, but stopped, presumably due the no incentives from the Aus Government for electric vehicles and the terrible exchange rate.

I test rode one and wow.. fucking awesome :)

You could always go for the Arc Vector.

I wish we could get zero motorcycles here, wonder if they will be eligible for that government rebate. My bike will be up for replacement in the next 5 to 10 years so it would be good to have an electric option. Don't want to have to switch to a car.

Harley Davidson Livewire next year. About $30,000 USD though.

Plus, then you'd be riding a Harley

But what's the point if you can't convert fossil fuel to noise without the unnecessary and wasteful byproduct of horsepower?

Do Harley Davidsons make horse power? I thought it had only been measured in trace amounts

Most agricultural machines do.

Update: H-D has said the first releases need a fix if you want to charge at home (which you will).

I really wish there was a positive answere in this thread. If there were decent electric motorbikes in NZ I would totally finally get my motorbike licence and get one.

Are there still cheap FXR150's floating around? As long as you're not a large chap(ette) they are fantastic fun.

Ninja 250, Honda Rebel 250, Suzuki GN250, DR250. Pick whichever style you prefer. Second hand. Something smaller if you're not so good at picking bikes up.

I have done a lot of research on this myself. The only one I know of that actually has electric bikes in NZ that you can buy/test ride is these guys: https://www.evokemotorcycles.co.nz/

Price for the 2020 model is just under $15k NZD which is actually pretty reasonable (compared to importing your own).

Their website is sparse on detail. I have emailed them to ask when they are available.

I am going to avoid commenting on this post because I dislike the idea of losing petrol motorcycles and am not excited for electric motorbikes.

^(wait a minute)

Why?

Perhaps they like to sit there with the engine vibration rubbing through their body.

Easily replicated through use of an ass-vibrator.

Or enjoy annoying everybody because it's the only attention they get in their miserable existence.

"Becoz car that make brum brum make me feel like big boi."

This is the likely answer.

Just a huge fan of existing petrol motorcycles. I don't like the styling or design of any electric bikes so far, and I'm skeptical of change when it comes to something I love so much.

I'm well aware it's an indefensible position in the face of what will be a positive change, but that's just how I feel : )
