Tilley Still the Best?

Discussion

In the market for a new summer brimmed hat. The LTM6 was the gold standard but the Hiker seems nice. Some seem unhappy with the durability with the newer products. Any other brands I should consider before pulling the trigger?

I've been using an inexpensive kahki Einskey sun hat since July and like it so far. The price is right. It does not have the dark underbrim, but has not been bothersome even so. And a sharpie black marker would probably take care of that if you really wanted.

I've got several of these kinda floppy or even semi-rigid foldable fishing/sun hats, including a clownishly large super wide brim HLLMAN, which is kinda ridiculous outside of the Caribean or FL Keys. It's large enough to sometimes interfere with casting. Not to mention it becomes a sail with the slightest breeze and looks like Granny's gardening hat.

Still, no more biopsies, please, and I'd like to retire without being disfigured.

If anything Tilly wears out in any way, send it back and you will get a repaired hat or a brand new one. Like, even if a single stitch comes loose, it will be fixed or replaced and you will get a good Canadian 'Sorry'.

We have 3 Tilly Hats, totally 50+ hat years. The only issue with my main hat is sunscreen on the top of my ears has somewhat stained the brim of my hat. After 12 years, it is OK. Oh...and the duck cotton *can* get pretty funky if it is not cleaned and dried after a dunking.

Anyone who has an issue with the LTM6 is probably not cleaning it properly---hand wash with a combination of dish soap and ammonia---drip dry in direct sunlight.

Go Tilly. :)

I love my Tilley and wear it in all but the coldest weather. Practical an durable. For me it is the standard.
