I hope we hear more stuff about the Endeavor soon.

I know that this probably won't happen for an incredibly long time, but the Endeavor is an incredibly awesome concept. Does anyone know where I can find more info on it other than just the pledge page?

the profession of scientist not even being approached yet and the objects ect not even starting then a capital vessel as specialized will not be approached for a long time I think

The Sen is already in game, but yeah I figure science gameplay is probably low on the list of priorities.

building on this, after we have more science gameplay...

Once the Hull series has been completed, I expect they will have expanded enough on MISCs Capital sized ship ship assets that the bulk of the time actually building the endeavor will consist of creating ship modules for the already developed science gameplay

Endeavor will take a while, if not mistaken it was originally implied it would be one of the last ships they make for when SC goes "live" and will probably not even be ready for "live".

The HUGE amount of modules with bespoke 'endlevel' gameplay sort of forces it to be started after all those gameplay loops have been implemented.

When it's done though it will be a sight to behold.

i thought it was slated for after launch down the road.

star citizen isn't realistically going to either launch or wait to launch for all the stuff required for the endeavour to be in game. it's really post launch content, along with a fair bit of other stuff tied to ships.

i mean assuming they ever do an actual launch thing.

I’m personally ok with pledging for ships that are going to be in game for release (over $3k pledges so far), but collecting money for post release update content is crossing the line. With no actual deadline (at least with other ships the “release” is somewhat of a deadline, even if no actual date has been set), you could be waiting for years beyond the release of the game.

The Endeavor will not be ready until 2027 or later; that’s my guesstimate.

from 2016:

https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/4dxvl3/not_all_ships_to_be_completed_by_launch_from_rtv/

star citizen's business model viability relies primarily on them progressing development. regardless of what abritrary point is called launch at w/e point from now, that will not change, so working towards endeavour as an eventual goal is important to their business model. it's just that there's years of development between where we're at now with the game and endeavour, and we're probably closer to the arbitrary launch point than we are to the endeavour being flyable and functional.

which hopefully if anything once the endeavour is flyable it's various myriad functions will be not only in place but also nice and polished and interesting gameplay wise.

either way, ship sailed on collecting money for post launch ships and content a lonnnnnnnnng time ago.

Damn. I just looked at the stretch goals for the first time. (I didn’t get involved until about a year ago.)

CIG really got ahead of their selves with some of those. They were talking about having 80 systems with less than $50 million, and they have already burned through $200 million with less than one system completed. I can understand why so many people have gotten impatient and abandoned the project.

Theres a ton of speculation that the endover will not be ready until the PU enters beta, maybe even live state.

Lot of speculation says 1 year after live lol.

If anything, it might be the last ship to come out because of its complexity/modularity.

It's the most complicated ship in Star Citizen. And it needs a metric ton of tech that's not currently in the game before they can implement it. To add to the fun it's one of the early concept ships, where they didn't have the sizes for internal features, or bother with things like complete deck-plans. All we've got is some great art.

Other than (just now) the Hope module, none of them have any sort of gameplay implemented for them - so even if they made them, the odds of having to redo them entirely once they figured out what exactly the various professions they enable will do would be high.

You need ship-ship and ship-station docking, modular ships v2 (because it's the only ship that's not just replacing a fixed-size element of the ship. Vanguards, Cats, Carracks, even the Avenger if it ends up modular, "just" swap out same-sized blocks for something else.)

So I wouldn't be holding my breath for news on the Endeavor. It's a great concept, but I suspect it's going to be the very last concept ship CIG does - because for it to work right, they're going to need to have done most everything else to implement all the tech and gameplay it enables.

On the bright side, I suppose, every time any new tech for ships arrives, or any new profession mechanic shows up, it's essentially news about the Endeavor. Cutlass Red? News about the Hope module. 890 Jump? News about the hanger module. Ship-station docking? News about the Endeavor. Modules for the Vanguard or Cat? Ditto.

I own an endeavor. It’s not likely to come out until post release. The devs have said as much so I would not expect to hear anything about it this year or next tbh.

You have your priorities mixed up. To even mention that cutdown hammerhead in the same sentence as the mighty Endeavour.

Did you read the 3 Q and A's? https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/14982-Q-A-MISC-Endeavor-Part-I

I wouldn't worry about it, the longer they take on it the more ship development experience and development tools they'll have created. It should be the bastion of non-combat gameplay.

Personally I hope it gets a ship module or a ship that fits in gets that functionality somewhat so that it can become a full mini space station.
