The man who has it no longer wants it.

He who lacks it attempts to flaunt it.

Who is righteous, man one or man two?

The answer lies solely in his style of shoe.

Is it a trusty sneaker, tried and true?

Or a ragged boot, marching for the Red, White and Blue?

Maybe a worn out slipper, loved on saturdays?

Perhaps a muck boot for when the weather grays?

Or a lucky spiked cleat from back in his playing days?

Now a corporate-suit-man, does he tread in wingtips?

Or a loafer worn on modern sailing ships?

On a casual day he still wears Oxfords,

Afraid of looking cheap to the blue-collar mockers.

His conscience cool with his bank account full;

His former, poorer self now just a fool. . .

Hey, could you expand on your previous comments? As it currently is, your comment doesn't do much to help the author understand what is working or what isn't working within their poem. Why did that line work for you? What else did you enjoy about the poem; why? Second, was there anything you thought could be improved in the poem?
