If you've ever wanted to go to popular bars and restaurants in the city but are put off by crowds then now's a good time. Never seen the city so dead.

The Sky is Falling

Especially for a long wkend. The last 2 weeks when out on a Fri and Sat night mates and I have been shocked at how empty places are compared to normal. Patronage looked to be way down at almost all the bars and clubs we've been in. Even in places like Madam Brussels, Spice Market, Arbory, Cookie, Bar Margaux there didn't seem to be as many there as usual and had no trouble finding spots for a group of 4 or 5 to chill.

Just drink some heavy spirits to kill off any corona virus, only take pingas anally and wash your hands.

FYI a lot of people go away for long weekends, the city is usually quieter.

Yeh for sure man but this is quiet even by the standards of previous long wkends. Also last wkend as well seemed just as quiet.

I work in hospitality - so far, this weekends numbers have been right on par for Labour Day weekends past. No busier, no slower.

What sort of joint? A few mates who work in tabs and pubs reckon it's more or less the same too but they're more Fitzroy and Richmond.

Multiple; I’m in senior management. All venues are performing as projected.

There's other ways to take pingas?

The only limit is your imagination.

I just came from Arbory, it was packed. I usually only go there on a Sunday arvo for a quiet beer, but it only had (limited) standing room only so didn’t bother staying. Today was abnormally busy so not sure what you’re talking about.

That entire district is packed today, guessing it’s coz of Moomba + long weekend.

Maybe the fact the sun's been out today has drawn the masses back out. It was definitely quiet as fuck Fri and last wkend.

Got a good table upstairs at the Corner Hotel at 530 on Friday.

Wasn’t expecting that!!

You should see the airport. Parked out the front of the QANTAS terminal. Normally there are security trying to move you on if you are there for more than 2 minutes. I was there for 10 and saw 2 other cars.

Yeh dude the intetnational terminal must be a ghost town compared to normal. Domestic seems to be pretty much same old same old but.

I flew to Tokyo yesterday, the plane was about half full.

Yeah I love going out to bars and clubs when there is only three people, such a great vibe.

2
TimN90OP•

Unlucky for you there's always more than 3 ppl at popular places even during a quiet period.

Not including staff.

Went to Chadstone last Friday around 7:40pm and surprisingly struggled to find a car park in front of Woolworths (car park E). Went to eat at a noodle restaurant called Lanzhou Beef Noodle Bar. It was probably around 70% - 75% full of diners, so not too bad considering people are freaking out eating at Asian restaurants.

It's moved on to Italians now

I was there about 2 wks ago after they supposedly had a worker who was a confirmed case and I thought it was a bit quieter but only really near the luxury stores. Chaddy carpark always going to be a shitshow.

You talking about just generally during the day? Yesterday was definitely busier. It helped that the weather was nicer than Fri and Sat. Anyway general foot traffic shouldve been busier with the parade.

You've somehow misconstrued the pretty obvious message of 'places are quieter so take advantage if you're interested' into 'help these hospo places really need your business'. Well done idiot. Nobody is forcing you to do shit. If you can't afford it don't go out.
