Would you still go to an oil change appt?

I am looking for everybody's opinion. I have an oil change appt that I made weeks ago tomorrow. Would you still go or would you reschedule it? Its for 7 in the morning and donaldsons said they are still open. Would you reschedule due to the risk or would you go and just wait outside or something. I know it seems like a stupid question with an obvious cancel the appointment answer but its hard to get an appointment normally there and when this is all over they will be even more swamped then normal.

Support local business. If they are open go there.

Just wait outside, if you have gloves wear them as you hand over your payment card/cash or handle a pen to sign a receipt. If you don't have gloves just sanitize your hands and your payment card immediately. Disinfect your car keys when you get them back, give your steering wheel/gear shifter a wipe down also (maybe just go over the console/door handles too, any part of the interior someone may have touched) I know it sounds like a lot but it won't actually talk long to do. I'd consider an oil change a necessity as you never know when you'll need to take an unexpected long distance drive, especially these days.

Thanks this is what i will probably do. I am IT for a library and I am in limbo whether I am essential or not so I might be called on to go in .

Is it walking distance from your house? Wait at home.

My lease ends in April. Not sure what to do about that. I guess I’ll be careless until this is over?

No, cancel it.

You should not be driving to begin with, so no.

Driving? Haha. What's the exposure risk while sitting in your car?

I usually assume that people are driving for a reason.

Yeah, to get the hell out of the house. Never went for a drive to nowhere?

Exactly, sometimes you just need to get moving. I've been doing a lot of those nowhere drives, usually just on the Ocean parkway. Another thing is cars are not made to sit stationary. It's not good to let your car sit for too long so I want to make sure I'm circulating the oil, brake fluid, etc at least a few hours a week.

Not when the state is specifically trying to get everyone to stay home. I understand the sentiment, but think that if there ever was a time for an abundance of caution, now is it. Obviously most people on Long Island do not agree.

What if they’re essential?

I am IT for a library. I am in this weird limbo. we are closed and I am working from home but cuomos order lists a lot of IT as essential. We are considered a government building kinda. So I can be argued as essential and can be argued as non essential.

But you still need groceries and stuff eventually. I’d say car maintenance is essential.

If they are essential, then that sucks, but it probably is necessary.
